Hi guys,
I just wanted to say something I feel extremely important for all you youngins out there starting on the road to raw or just thinking about adopting this wonderful lifestyle. There is A LOT of information out there on the world wide web of ours and you'll find, like I did, that there are an aweful lot of conflcting opinions and advice out there on this forum and whenever you Google something. You can find support, scientific evidence, statistics to prove virtually any view point out there and to be honest it can be very, very confusing...at least it was for me!! I started and stayed raw, not because of statistics, facts, opinions of others etc, but becuase it just made sense to me and from personal experience i.e. when I ditched all the SAD food for salads, green smoothies (now exclusively), superfoods etc I felt great, energised, vibrant and experienced health I never thought possible. I learnt from experience, LISTENING TO MY BODY and finding what worked FOR ME and was optimal. We are all unique and we are priviledged with one of the greatest nutrional gurus of all...our bodies...so listen to that first and foremost before someone on the web!! For example, I remember the first time I got some cocoa powder and started reading about it on the net...I found articles saying it was a miracle food but then I found poeple saying that it was toxic, that it dangerous due to the caffiene in it, completely unhealthy, made people sick, kept them up all night etc. Quite honestly after an hour of being on the net the FEAR OF GOD had been put in me (and that's an understatement) but at the same time I was confused becuase there were a lot of people who seemed to be thriving on it. One day, I decided just to ignore all these OPINIONS (very important...not facts but OPINIONS) and try some for myself...and what happened...I felt great, my skin showed significant benefits, I wasn't over stimulated, headaches went (probably due to its incredible magnesium content) and I certainly didn't have any adverse effects. Now that isn't to say that the people having bad reactions didn't or were lying...I believe them completely...but it shows you that we ARE ALL DIFFERENT IN OUR NUTRITIONAL NEEDS, REACT TO THINGS DIFFERENTLY and must finds what works FOR US...I've done this not by listening to others but LISTENING TO MY BODY. So, please of course read, learn, be inspired by others but remember that this lifestyle is one of SELF discovery as much as anything else and there are very few universal rules, rights or wrongs when it comes to our raw lifestyle. For more thoughts and words of inspiraton along these lines you can read the following post of mine http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=28068&highlight=consideration.
All the best and hope these words are of help...any questions or comments please write.
