Hi to everybody..I am new here and I have Alissa's book.I have already tasted many delicious recipes from that. The promplem is that some of the ingredients are unknown for me. Could you please light me about ''bragg liquid aminos'' and ''nutritional yeast''? and if I can't find them here in Greece which ingredients can replace them? thank you for your help.

Hi Flora and welcome to the forum.
Bragg's Liquid Amino's are usually found in a plastic bottle with a red and yellow label in a health food store or health section at a supermarket.
Some people use nama shoyu or Celtic Sea Salt instead for the salty flavor.

Nutritional yeast I dont know of a replacement for. I see it in the bulk food section at my grocery store.

Good luck!

Both Bragg's and nutritional yeast are mostly to give the recipe a flavor something like the SAD recipe for the foodstuff.

What SweetG said about substituting for Bragg's will work. I don't much like the taste of Bragg's myself and rarely use it, just leave it out or use a bit of organic tamari (which is not raw but I use so little that I don't count that as "not 100%.")

Nutritional yeast gives a cheese-like flavor to things that would contain Parmesan cheese in recipes I've read, so you could easily do without that unless you're wanting a recipe to taste something like the SAD food.

ground dehydrated red bell pepper provides the cheesy taste the nutrional yeast does.

Sweet lips, when you dehydrate red bell peppers, do you first rub them with oil? Or do you just slice and throw them on dry?

I never thought about adding oil, I just grind them up in the f.p. and then put them on the dehydrator and let dry and then grind them into a flour so to speak; never thought this, but perhaps I will do as you brought up and then grind up after coming off of dehydrator - save a step -

Thanks for provoking my thoughts - we are in this together aren't we!

Have a wonderful evening.

yes, agree about the braggs...can use nama shoyu, which i would highly suggest over braggs which is a very questionable substance based on many different sources.

I was on the hunt all over Austin for Nama Shoyu yesterday. I found regular "Organic" but it was brewed.

Anyone know where to get it in Austin? Tried Central Mkt, Whole Foods and HEB.

In case it helps anyone.... Shoyu is actually the Japanese word for "soysauce". Might help new rawbies remember. ;)
