As some of you may know I just completed a 21 day water fast and 7 days of refeeding at the Tanglewood Wellness Center.
I came across this article on the web which from my fasting experience I found to be true. I wanted to pass it on to everyone here in the fasting forum.
The premise is when you fast you are detoxifying and thus loosing weight. There comes a point in your fast (if you do a long enough fast) where you stop loosing weight. Traditional (natural hygenist) will tell you to keep on fasting; some will go so far as to tell you to keep on fasting until your tongue becomes clear (this is insane and potentially deadly). This article explains how once you stop loosing weight your body is no longer detoxifying (at least at a noticable rate). This article explains how eating can actually help speed up the detoxification process.
Here are some stats from my personal experience. I started out at 162 pounds. In the first two weeks I went down to 140 pounds. The third week I didn't loose any weight at all. Within the first two days of refeeding (mind you it was only two ounces of watermelon 5 times a day) I lost 6 more pounds.
