We will be leaving for a two-month long motorhome trip from Illinois (our home) to the West Coast and back. I have the square Excaliber Dehydrator to make my favorite Flax Seed Crackers among other things. This dehydrator is too big to take with us and I'm wondering whether to make 8 weeks worth of crackers and freeze them to have with us, or would it be better to get a smaller, less expensive dehydrator to take with us and use while we travel. I've seen a round one that appears to stack and then collapses for storage at "Bed, Bath and Beyond." However, I am concerned about the thermostate being low enough for Raw Food. I've been considering getting it. but have been wondering what those of you who freeze your crackers think about the crackers once they are defrosted. Once defrosted, are they still as delicious as fresh? And, what about they're texture? Anything special you have to do with them once defrosted before eating them? Thanks for any help you can give me in making this decision. :)

Do you have any crackers already made? Freeze a couple, then decide. RAWvolution's Famous Onion Bread freezes well. Not sure about the flax crackers. I'd say have at it and then decide...

My experience with any cracker and crispy bread is once it thaws, its no longer crispy or even once its been out in the air or put in a plastic bag or tub its no longer crispy. I find I have to eat mine within a few hours of making it. I dont have the raw magic touch yet so I dunno :p

No reason to freeze them if you dry them to a crisp.

I have had crackers for months and they were still crispy. They were one that I did not like very much so I always ate the fresher ones first but they did not go off.
