I wake up everyday at 5 a.m. and have to be at work by 7:30 a.m. and I've been trying to workout when I wake up but it's so hard for me, my energy absolutely sucks and it takes forever for me just to do my Pilates DVD's. I really want to start doing the treadmill first thing in the morning that way after work, I wont have to worry about working out because it will all be taken care of already! anyone have any tips on what I could take to help boost some energy? certain foods, supplements, etc??

thanks!

Hey! I know I sound like a broken record, but Green Smoothies are amazing, miracle drinks. I do add Alissa's green food powder and spirulina in mine. I've also added hemp powder and maca powder once in a while too. Are you 100% raw? Haven't you been having some weird issues, like mercury poisoning and stuff? Your body is going through a lot. Maybe you need to just concentrate on eating right for a bit and fore-going the workout for a week or two and instead take a walk first think in the morning. Feeling exhausted is a sign from your body - listen to it.

Thank you! and yes, I've been 100% raw for 18 days now and I am going through alot... mercury and candida issues... so maybe I shouldnt focus on working out? I've been so exhausted, literally sleeping all day and I don't know whether or not to go with the tiredness or to push myself...

I did order some green powder from sunfoodnutrition so maybe that'll help.

I use banana's any time Im going to jogg or go to the gym or even go on a trip and I need something to keep my going for a few hours... Banana's are my friend. An orange sometimes helps too but Banana's work perfect.

in terms of getting energized, upon rising I always do my cobra position and deep breathing exercises, bending exercises for the liver and then a brief meditation.

During sleep, some of the energy pathways can get blocked for various reasons so I always begin with breaking those barriers.

liquid chlorophyl I'm told is great for this....
or any juice should do it. some mix juice with a superfood (vitamineral green, etc) and experience the energy.

I envy all you guys who are morning people. I try sooo hard to workout in the morning so I would have no excuses in the evening, but nope. Can't do it. Now I have been pretty faithful of my night routine. For me, I like that I had a day's worth of nutrition in my body and I don't like to eat right before I exercise.
I am doing upper body weights and a 3 mile run starting around 7 pm. so it's going to be a late night.

I find i have a lot of energy in the morning if I don't eat too late the night before. also, being very well hydrated is important for energy.

If you're dealing with candida and mercury, it's normal you're tired. I would say go with your body and workout as much as feels good. There was a period of detox I went through where I was so tired it felt painful and nauseating to walk, do yoga, or a pilates dvd. So i rested. if you feel up to it, I would keep doing light exercise :)

I feel a big boost in the afternoon after having a green smoothie. This may work too if done in the morning. I just love my fruit smoothies with flax and nuts too much to give them up in the morning!:D

I would take it easy because it does sound like you are going through a lot right now. But, you still need to get some exercise in! Maybe some light exercise like walking outside or some light rebounding. Rebounding is good to help get things moving!

I find that 2 bananas is what will keep me going through an exercise session.

Hi Britaniefaith:

It sounds like we share many of the same health issues: mercury poisoning, candida, fatigue... and I am also new to raw.

I am still figuring out how to get energy also, but my suggestions to you:

1) I am a yoga teacher and specialize in pranayama which consists of breathwork to get more prana (or energy) flowing in the body. The best energizing breaths are kapalbhati, bhastrika, or breath or fire. You can google them to find out more, or I would suggest finding a yoga teacher in your area who teaches pranayama. These exercises are really easy to learn, but are best if they are demonstrated in a class. Once learned you can do them at home upon awakening. even one or 2 minutes does wonders.

2) also head stand (the yoga pose sirsanana) is wonderful upon awakening because it rushes fresh oxygenated blood to the torso, head, and brain. its like have a cup of coffee, but much healthier! if you dont know the posture, this also can be taught by any yoga teacher (I don't know, do they do headstand in pilates?)

2) Boost your Immune system: I really believe the #1 factor to recover your health and getting over those infections/ poisoning is to strengthen your immune system so it can do its job and push all those invaders out. the raw diet is doing this, but it might be helpful to add some super-immune boosting supplements. I have tried many, but the best ones I have found are: thymic protein and maitake mushroom extract, both are a bit expensive, but worth it!

3) Also, even though its not convenient, I would exercise when you are naturally the most energetic even if it is after work, you will get more out of it and enjoy it. As you continue to heal and strengthen- your energy will return and you can get back to your morning exercise routine. And, of course, I recommend yoga- it is great for supporting detoxification, is energizing, the list goes on and on....

more sleep!
more water!
less fat and/or hard to digest foods/combos.
open windows when you sleep so you get more o2. o2 is energy!

im an ultra endurance cyclist that has fallen asleep whilst riding..am always looking at drug free ways to get the best out of my body without thrashing my adrenals and falling in a heap down the track..

ive found the above tips to be most helpful. if we aint urinating clear and ever 2 hoursish..we are dehydrated.

learning how to drink enough, turned me into a morning person..im up at 3am to go training sometimes..

eating a light dinner helps too..
