I am trying to increase my cucumber juice intake b/c I'm hoping it will help clear up my skin. I know the peel is the best part for helping the skin. So I am wondering if it matters if I use normal organic cucumbers or the english ones? I usually eat the english ones b/c I don't like the skin and those have a thinner/tastier skin. But I am wondering if the regular ones with the thicker skin would have more nutrients? Anyone know? Thanks!

I don't know, but I'd go with the conventional, thicker ones.
Fasting helps skin.
as does oil-pulling
and my old best friend uses flax oil. I believe udo's oils or whatever would help it just the same, if not better. :-)

I meant regular as in the shorter, fatter ones (both kinds are organic). The english ones are long and thin and usually come wrapped in saran wrap. I haven't tried cucumbers in a green smoothie before. But I made a glass of the juice last night - 1 regular and 1/2 of a long english one and it tasted fine to me. Sort of refreshing. Tonight I think I might add a bit of apple to it. Thanks guys. I think I'll stick to the regular ones. :)

Right now I use the regular (shorter and thicker ones)..I had been buying organic (2 for $3 here) but I am hoping to find some at the local farmer's market this weekend...not receiving a paycheck over the next two months has forced me to modify my food spending... I havent tried the English ones yet... I imagine they'd both be great...

I'm really enjoying the long cucumber's. I think they have a more delicate taste. I love to juice them with cayenne pepper and lime.....mmmmgoood.

I only know of one kind of cucumber and I juice a half one every morning with about 5 sticks of celery and lots of green leaves (and a little aleo vera)

Sport - that sounds like the perfect juice for the skin! How does it taste?? Do you juice the aloe vera leaves whole or just scoop the goo into the juice?

It tastes surprisingly pleasant regardless of what leaves I use. Today it was mostly kale and Bok Choy.
I only started scraping the aleo for the past 2 days. Do not know why I changed. I think that maybe I like the mess. Like playing in mud when you were a kid.

So you just scoop the goo in? Do you blend it up after or anything? I've never dealt with aloe before but it's on my list to get at the store today. Is the aloe sweet?

I just put the goo on top of the bowl of greens which I then feed in to the juicer.
You have to cut the celery in about 1 inch lengths because the stringy bits could clog up the juicer if you leave them longer.
I find that the best thing to do is have a bowl of chopped cucumber and celery and a seperate bowl of chopped greens.
Put in some chunks of the veg and then a small handfull of greens. The veg gets through easy and the rest follows.
I have difficulty forcing a shutefull of greens down on their own.
