So I am a nanny and I am out of my house from 8am-5pm. One of the little girls is allergic to peanuts. For the past 6 months we just don't give her nuts and just wash our hands/brush teeth/clean messes if we eat them as she is not highly allergic. My employer approached me the other day about just hoping to keep nuts and anything possibly manufactured on equipment that processes nuts out of the house.

I agreed to this but am finding this hard to do as I often have nuts in my lunch (or a lara bar etc) as I crave something heavier midmorning-afternoon. I am not 100% raw but some vegan options (that are quick to nuk) are made on equipment that possibly has tree nuts etc. Currently I have juice and fruit, or a smoothie in the morning.

Any suggestions on what to bring that's a heavier, heartier item for lunches?

How about something like a hummus and tabuleh on romaine lettuce leaves? you can make taco like rolls with this and it is down right delish!! The hummus makes it pretty hardy and it is made with chickpeas. Not a nut in site. :D
You could also do stuffed avocados....stuffed with chopped tomatoes and onions, spices.

How about a pseudo trail mix, minus the nuts? You can do rasins, dates cut up, raw shelled sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds.

You can even take some cut up fruit for desert.

Just a few suggestions.
Good Luck!:)

The refried beans made out of sunflower seeds (posted on this forum). I also bring large garden salads to work for food as well. I agree with jeannieh99 - hummus is also very filling.

Substitute seeds in your recipes: pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, flax seeds :)
