My mother has had thyroid issues her whole life. When she was a kid the doctor's had her swallow radioactive iodine. I know she had a pneumonia when she was around 19 and was really sick for a while there. Not sure of the whole story I'll have to ask her.

To get to the question. I'm always offering help to my mother to improve her health. She is very strong-minded and thick headed (heh, just like me:) ). After some years she is coming around and making better choices in her diet. She is unhappy with the way she feels and knows part of the issue is due to her diet. She asked me what she could do to improve her condition. Of course I believe that eating raw could possibly heal her but I know she is not ready for that and is very set in her ways. She is in her fifties and is realizing that she needs to make some major changes. Maybe she will be interested in raw later on down the road but not at this moment. What could she do/eat to help? Do you have any basic tips or things that are not too time involved? She is aware of the goitrogens, white flours, refined sugars, meat, etc. I always tell her to incorporate more raw foods such as salads, fruits and veggies. Also green smoothies. Besides this do any of you that have had this issue such as VeganforLife suggest anything? I saw the link about sea veggies and how that helped too. Thanks

I think that if she had to choose only one thing to do it should be ither green juice or green smoothies but every step she makes will be a step in the right direction.
