Hey,
I was reading the thread on the amount of calories when eating veggies and when eating fruits, and an interesting point caught my attention.
Elle_murphy mentioned that she was fine when on just veggies and didnt fall off the wagon but when switching to fruits, she ended up straying from raw.
When I was trying raw last time, I was eating mainly fruit and dried fruit and nuts, and found it actually very hard to stay raw. How is this? Especially and you get more calories from fruit and nuts?
Anyone got any ideas on this they could share with me please? Id really like to succeed this time, but if I go the same direction as I did last time I can't see that happening! I seem to go crazy on high sugar foods, be it raw or non-raw.
What do you eat if you dont eat much or any fruit?
I'd really like to hear some views on this :)

Maybe you have an addiction to carbs or sweet foods? Just a guess. I don't particularly like fruit and I generally don't eat any at all. By fruit I mean sweet fruit. I do eat things like peppers and tomatoes. I might eat the occasional grapefruit and I do eat some cherries, strawberries, apples or pears from our garden when they are in season. But not necceasarily because I really like them. Just because they are there.

Thanks for your reply Julie! Yes I am almost certain that I have an addiction to carbs! Not so sure about sweet foods - I cut out refined sugar 2 and a half years ago, so its not stuff like chocolate or anything, but I do find it difficult to go without bread or muesli or some kind of grain.
Its interesting to note that a lot of the people on this site that have lasted some time eat mainly veggies/ savoury foods.. Im thinking that maybe thats why I didnt get along so smoothly on my last attempt
So what do you guys eat for meals? Or do you snack throughout the day? Can you give an example of a typical day of high veggie to fruit proportion?
Thanks in advance!!

That is an interesting concept! It is confusing but I know that for me, since going Raw, I have found I am addicted to dried fruits and nuts and it's NOT good!!! Alot of raw foodies say to eat whatever you want as long as it's raw but I think you have to listen to your body... I have an addiction to dried fruits and it just makes me crave more and more of it and 95% of the time I never feel good after eating it, just bloated and crampy. I need to add more fresh fruits and veggies and stop with all the snacks!!!

Maybe fruits spike your sugar levels so you then crae them due to a sensitiity?

I don't have a problem with whole fruits, but when when i juice them I am juiced. I always have to add some greens or I am flying! I think it is better to eat fruits earlier in the day when you are usually more active. I love fruit though and it really keeps me away from unraw processed sweets. I had a book with the list of fruits and thier GI count, but I loaned it to a friend. I bet you could find one online.

BritanieFaith - Thats exactly my problem! When I last tried to go raw I snacked ALL DAY on dried fruit and nuts, but it never satisfied me! It made me feel bloated but I still wanted more! Id get through nearly a whole pack of cashews, and loads of EXPENSIVE medjool dates a day :o
Dreamrawalwz - You're right I think thats must be it - Im sure Im highly sensitive to sugar and the fruit probably just makes me crave carbs. I seem to snack on lots of sugary fruit, then I need something savoury to bring me down and vegetables just dont cut it! I'll have to try and eat mainly veggies this time
DJ 247 - That is a good idea to have fruits earlier in the day coz i cant imagine having veggies for breakfast just yet!
Thanks all for your input! You've helped me a lot :D
