Why aren't beans allowed? I don't remember reading anythiong about it.

Bean sprouts are allowed, but some beans aren't good to eat raw. Mung beans, lentils, and alfalfa are edible sprouted, but not kidney beans or jequirity beans. And definitely not human beans.

It's not that they're not allowed. Some beans can safely be sprouted. Some can not. Some beans are poison unless they have been boiled first.
