Just curious. If it does, does it have less than say - coffee? Or is it different?

Actually, I am in Costa Rica right now, and yest. I spent ALL day in an organic Cacao plantation. I can tell you that the Cacoa is composed of at least 12% caffeine. You can eat the fruit that surrounds the seed (the actual "chocolate part"), but when you eat the seeds, you will get a caffeine high.. I just happened to witness about 20 other people telling me how STRONG the bean was, that it was almost too bitter to eat, that it was addicting, and how they felt their pulses racing. Plus, usually, the fruit is not even eaten by humans...monkeys and other birds get to it before it becomes ripe enough to cut.
This experience completely changed my opinion about eating raw cacao...especially when you realize how difficult it is to eat raw without using machinery to isolate and extract/ make it nice and edible in the way it's packed.
Not trying to dis it here, but just thought I would share my experience.

Yeah, I read something lately that says that raw choc. is bad for our bodies. It is toxic to most animals which should tell us something. If anyone is interested, I will see if I can find the article.

Hi Vandy, now you are in the middle of cacao: do you have any sight on the topic whether raw chocolate is indeed being processed according to "raw standards/temperatures"?

Wait, All Caca isn't from Costa Rica!!
The source I get mine from have actually visited the places as well, and all is well and raw. My experience has been no problems with Cacao, but when I drank sodas when raw, I felt the effects. But thas just me, had to mention before the cacao squad comes with pitchforks ready to burn it at the stake. * insert smile here*
And after being at this raw food thing for sometime, You can find many articles to support every and any theory. How do I know, I read them all, and curled up into the fetal position with Pizza Hut's number on speed dial, seconds away for dialing, hands shaking, in a state of confusional(?)-detox --- ahhh but alas, I stayed raw.
