Ive been trying to switch up my greens in my smoothies, and I recently bought a bunch of mustard greens. My goodness are they ever spicy to me...they taste exactly like chinese hot mustard to my taste buds (the only difference being they dont cause my eyes to water and my nose to run..just my mouth to become hot).

Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can add to my smoothie to help neutralize the spiciness? I probably wont buy them again, but Id like to salvage what Ive already purchased

Thanks

I don't know if this would work, having never tried it, but how about skipping the smoothie version altogether? Instead of using those mustard greens you have left in a drink, could you make them into chips? Some nama shoyu and seasonings and dehydrate until crispy? I would think the spiciness of them could be capitalized upon in this way, instead of trying to mask it. Teriyaki or something?

Broc, I wouldn't use them in smoothies. I would wilt them and put them in a stir-unfry. Say edible podded peas, bean sprouts, etc., maybe swiss chard, asparagues, whatever, and an asian type sauce, wilted in the dehydrator. If you slightly sweeten your sauce it would help too.
