Heaven in a Coconut

Hey Everyone and School of Rawk in particular-

Hey Erica- I sent you an e-mail but saw that you're on-line right now and am hoping to catch your attention.

I got carried away and bought a whole case of those cute baby coconuts. Some of them have some green mold up on the tip and I'm wondering if they could still be good on the inside.
I was wondering if you'd share the kefir recipe for coconuts.

That may not be mold. Young coconuts start with a green shell around them, which is then shaved off to reveal the white husk. Sometimes, there are bits of green left on the husk that are remainders of the original green shell.

Is the bottom really soft and spongy, and is there purple mold on it? If so, it's moldy. But if the green on the tip is the only stuff you see, it's probably not mold. :) Enjoy!!! I made a peach/coconut/frozen banana smoothie for breakfast this morning. Yum.

it IS mold.
it is cause they are wrapped in plastic & "sweat"
they coconut inside is fine.
i have had MANY w/mold starting on the outside.
the white part isn't exactly food....just the protective covering of the shell.
the outer green shell has been removed,therefore left vulnerable!

I agree, that some young coconuts have mold on them. I was just trying to point out that some also have the remainder of the green husk on them in places, and it can look like mold, but is just from where they didn't shave the green part down all the way. :)

coconut is heaven sent! its my fav smell, fav taste and fav texture.. its just my fav. woot! YAY for coconut!!! lol :p
