Hey everyone, I have been raw for a couple of months now and I just ran my first 10k ever! I did it in 1 hour 1 minute and 29 seconds. Not bad for my first time!:D

The race started at 9am this morning. I drank two big glasses of water at 6:30am and I ate 3 ripe bananas at about 7:20am.
I was perfectly hydrated and full of raw nutrition! I didn't even need to drink at any of the water stations! And I was passing people left and right and sprinted to the finish line! And after I finished, while everyone was stuffing their faces with bagels, I wasn't even thinking about food! All I had was a green lemonade and that was 2 hours after I finished running. Running Raw Rocks!:p

The race was in Central Park here in New York City. We started out in the street and then eventually headed into the park around mile 1. It was pretty hilly but none of the hills were steep, they were all pretty gradual with some downhill reliefs added in there too. I liked the course alot.
When we got to mile 6, I was like "OMG!" And then when I saw the finish line in the distance, the adrenaline was just flowing like crazy and I sprinted like I was running for my life!
I "almost" cried a few times because I never thought I could ever do anything remotely athletic and this being my first race, it was borderline emotional. My goal was to finish in about 62 minutes and I totally did so I am so stoked right now!

Thanks everyone! I treated myself to dinner at a raw restau (Italian "sausage" pizza and corn tostada with guac, salsa and sour "cream"), carob nut milk for dessert and a movie!

I went to Quintessence for the pizza and the corn tostada. And then I went to Jubb's longevity for the carob nut milk. I only go to raw restaus as a "treat" because they are pretty pricey IMO!

Hey, that's really great, RawNubian! I still remember the first time I ever ran a race, three years ago and like you, I never considered myself an athlete. So I can totally relate to your accomplishment -- it's an awesome feeling!

I'm in training for my next race (15k), but I hurt my knee last week and now I've got to take a break from running. Reading about your success made me want to go out and run, but alas, I can't yet. Maybe next week! :)
