View Full Version : Weight Loss
Hi!
I Just Started Raw (about 2 Weeks) So I'd Like To Know What To Expect. I Felt That Natural High By The 2nd Day, But I Rarely Feel It Now. Any Suggestions? How Soon Can You Expect Weight Loss? How Much? Anyone Like To Share Their Success?

I started loosing weight immediatly. I have lost 15lbs in 5 weeks. One of the weeks I was less raw than the rest due to a kidney stone and being in the hospital. I just read today that somepeople lose alot at first if they are really over weight and that some people might not start loosing right away if they haven't got far to go in loosing weight. Everyone is different. Keep it up and you will reap the rewards. ;)

I didn't go raw to lose weight, but I ended up losing 15lbs. pretty quickly and have maintained that for about 3 months (from 130 to 115).
I would just concentrate on eating healthily, drinking plenty of water and last but not least exercise, and the weight will definitely come off.

I have maybe 10 pounds to lose. I lost three pounds right off the bat the first week, and not one pound in the three months since. But I don't think that's too unusual. Nora (of www.rawschool.com ) went 8 months, I think, before she started losing weight.
Thanks For Your Advice. I'll Be Drinking More Water And Hope For A Change. What About My Energy Level ? Does Food Combining Have Anything To Do W/ Losing That Natural High I Felt The First Few Days?

Usually I have TONS of energy -I sleep VERY little and always feel refreshed!Unless I am detoxing-which can feel yucky ,but fantastic afterwards......

...and losing touch with what your own unique body wants and needs.

What about it? Do you mean you're wondering if there's something you can do to have more energy? If you're eating enough that you feel satisfied, exercising, doing stress reduction techniques as needed, taking some time for fun things, getting enough sleep...you know, all that common sense stuff, you're taking care of the basics just fine. I've cycled back and forth from days I felt great to days (sometimes parts of a day) when I felt just rotten and could tell my body was working off something, so there aren't any guarantees that feeling great is going to last all that long when you're first adjusting to raw eating.

Maybe, maybe not. If you've been doing that and it doesn't seem to be helping, quit it and see if that makes a difference. For me, if I eat too many nuts or seeds, I don't feel as well and don't seem to have as much energy as when I get my protein from avocados and green, leafy things. (Actually, that may just be a convenient excuse for eating more avocados which I LOVE! :p ) So, try eating a bit differently and see what that does.
Personally, I don't pay much attention to what some formula says I should do, like how much water I "should" drink per movie I've seen in the last year or so. ;) But then, I'm familiar enough with how my skin looks when I'm well hydrated that I can look at my hands and see when I need to drink more water.
Drinking more water is great if you feel you need more water; it's not necessarily great if you load up on the water because somebody says you ought to. Drinking more water hoping to lose weight faster may not do that much if your body is currently focused on clearing out toxins, although it likely will help that process along.
You're unique, and how your body adjusts to eating raw will be unlike anyone else's experience, so try some different things and see what seems to work for you.

Rawpriestess that is AWESOME!
I have lost another pound I'm down 16lbs now. AND to top that I just started my peroid(sorry guys) in which I usually gain 5-6lbs of water. And I'm DOWN a lb. SO COOL! Eating this way is really effortless to me. Before I had to count, measure, worry about what went into my mouth. No more of that! I Just grab and go. Simple!
I'm not a big water drinker either, I try but I don't always get the amount in that people tell you you 'should' be drinking. I do drink a coule large glasses of herbel tea a day so that helps with fluid intake.
Keep up the great work everyone!
Love,
Angie
