I had three job interviews in 2 days (plus my full-time job) and I'm not sure how to handle the "food thing" while I continue to interview - hopefully, something I want will come through. The problem is, midway through the morning (10:00, 11:00, etc) I start to feel REALLY hungry. I'm not usually done until 12:00 or 1:00 so by the time I'm done, I have a headache, dizzy, stomach pain low blood sugar crash and cranky. That’s 5 hours w/o food and I never go more than 2-3 hours w/o eating.

This morning I had a huge green smoothie at around 7:00 and was hungry at around 9:30. Normally I'm at work so I can eat, but I it’s harder when I'm out and have to keep what I bring to a bare minimum. I can’t really bring anything with me because I'm going to interviews and already have a portfolio and small purse with me. I can’t go in with a huge tote bag of food. I'm in the city so I don’t have my car with me (public transit).

Does anyone have an ideas of something I can bring that is small enough to fit into a purse, but that wont get crushed such as fruit. Nuts alone just don’t do it for me unfortunately.

What if you made like some wholesome grawnola (or if not that, a trail mix) with things such as hemp and other seeds, raisins, goji berries, etc. added? Or, what if you had some of your favorite raw crackers and then you did like "Mom" used to do by spreading almond (instead of peanut) butter on one, top with another cracker and had those? Those might get crushed, though, huh? Ummm...maybe some fudge balls or brownie balls??

Just how small is your small purse?

oat groats seem to be filling whenever i do eat them; can't remember if you have a dehydrator or not, if so you can just take about cup or cup and a half of ground up oat groats, some raisins and some nuts and mix them together with just enough agave until the dough comes together, you can also add some shakes of cinnamon, you can dehydrate these overnight and break them up into pieces to be used as granola or you can hand roll them into little balls or something and refrigerate, I have eaten this both ways (i shaped them into bars, and put them in the fridge) might need a wet napkin or something but i was just thinking that this seems to satisfy me.... I don't really measure, well I measure visually and so I use about
1 1/2 oat groats
1 cup raisins
1 cup nuts (chopped up)
agave (just enough to bind)
cinnamon (or not)

The raw gronola seems like a good idea. I also like the crackers and nut butter idea too - even if they get crushed. :p

I cant have oats becuase of a gluten intolerance but I wonder if I could use something else...

Some fruits aren't quite as fragile as others. Like, I can't get pears home without them getting cut/squished in my bag, but what about apples? Oh, and drinking more water might keep you from feeling quite as hungry.

Good luck in your interviews!

How about Lara bars? I know people debate them here, but they're tiny, packaged, and you can relax and focus on what's important - acing your interview, without worrying about crushed food in your purse.

barose, one thing i was thinking was that you could use nuts like cashews for instance and grind into a "flour" and then add another type of nut with the raisins... you could probably do it with flax maybe...

I can try it with flax or sprouted buckwheat...:)

Good idea! My SO just brought a box home - I think he did it with me in mind because he can get so many other things I cant (refuse) eat.:p
