Hi,

I am new to the board. I have been lurking for a few weeks and this is my first post. I am switching to 100% raw when I fininsh a 10 day master cleanse. The cleanse will be done on 6/11/2007. I have several raw cook books including Alissa's.

I am not going totally organic as my limited budget will not allow it. I will be getting most of my fresh fruits and veggies from farmer's markets and my local grocery store.

If I by frozen fruit such as blueberries for smoothies, is it considered raw? I can pay $4.00 for about a cup of non-organic fresh blueberries, or I can pay $3.00 for a 2 pound bag of frozen.

Most frozen fruits are not blanched or anything - berries are usually fine. I buy the huge bag of frozen strawberries from Costco for like $7.99 and it goes a long time cause it's so...huge!

But it's been said that when you can, freeze your own. So, if fresh berries ever go on a GOOD sale, stock up on 'em, have some of 'em fresh and freeze the rest! Otherwise, don't sweat it if you buy frozen fruit. I think peaches may be blanched before frozen, though.

Yes they are raw if not blanced (fuits normally are not)

just look at the ingredients and make sure they are JUST the fruit.

I store all my nuts and seeds in the freezer and they sprout just fine!

PS I also play Zul JIn server (wimpy blue)

to keep this related to the post- i too use a lot of frozen fruits. if i can buy fruit in bulk, like strawberries, i wash and dry them and then lay them in a single layer on a cookie sheet and pop them in the freezer. the next morning i have perfectly frozen strawberries and i store then in a ziploc. works like a charm.
