I've made a couple of green smoothies and found that every time my blood sugars spikes way out of control. Is there any way around this? (I used one bunch of spinach, 1 cup of water, 1 cup of blueberries, 2 bananas today, drank about 16 ounces of this mixture) and one hour after drinking it my blood sugar was 265!!!:(

U need to add some fat into your smoothie...like avocado or an oil...it will slow down your sugar intake:D

Add some fat.. Avo, Coconut Oil, etc. It will slow it down. 1 or 2 tablespoons of oil... Try it and see. Or One avo, or half of one. And add more greens, whatever u added put a lil more in. Try and see... I wish u luck!

Maybe stick with less-sweet fruits such as Granny Smith apples, berries, maybe cut it down to one banana. You can also add a little nut milk or even just a small handful of nuts or seeds of some sort to it too.
I've known quite a few diabetics who drink green smoothies (even with sweet fruit) and the green themselves keep the blood sugar from spiking...so not sure why this is happening with you. But yeah, try maybe adding less banana (or none at all) and see what happens. You might have to just drink them with a lot more greens and a lot less fruit until things get all worked out internally!

kill the banana
add some fat
add some cinnamon (known to help balance blood sugar)
sweeten with stevia plus, widely regarded as the best and safest for those with blood sugar issues like diabetes as it is the ONLY sweetener with a glycemic index of ZERO. (Stevia Plus not just "any" stevia. The key is in the fiber)

I have found that adding the juice of the cucumber will ease the sugar spike. I have also discovered that one only has to employ this method for about a week or less because the body will adjust to the amount of natural sugar you are putting into it and you will discover that the cucumber juice is no longer necessary.

cinnamon is known to help regulate blood sugar... maybe try adding a teaspoon of that.
