I am a black woman that appreciates hips, breast and back on my body. Although on the SAD diet I would have to force myself to eat because the food didn't make me feel right, I have horrible eczema, bad skin, dry hair etc.
I do not want to lose too much weight on the raw diet because I am already thin I'm only 5'2 and 105 pounds. I was in the process of gaining weight on the SAD diet but could not go threw with it for obvious reasons stated above.
I made a menu plan for myself that totals to about 2700 calories a day to sustain and gain weight. I would have to eat a considerable amount of nuts along with fruits and Vegetables, Avocados etc, to reach that goal daily. I have gathered recipes that require atleast a cup of nuts per recipe which is about 700 calories per meal.
Does anyone have experience with eating about 2 cups of nuts daily. Is this is a bad way to approach it. I want to gain 10 pounds, I also do some weight training but I don't want a body like a guy. Any Advice?
My daily diet:
Pre-Breakfast
water with lemon
Apple 50 calories
Breakfast
Breakfast Scramble (almonds) 1272 calories
Snack
Orange 100 calories
Lunch
Avocado Soup 678 calories
Side Salad w/tomato/Olives 125 calories
Snack
Green Smoothie w/banana,berries etc 125
Dinner
Cashew Nori Rolls 750 Calories
Desert Donut Holes 1382
Total Calories: 4482 Am I eating too many calories?
Any Feedback is welcome

I think you might prefer avocados to nuts but its totally up to you. Also, a lot of sweet fruits have a lot of calories too and dates. 4000 calories is a lot and I'm not sure if you'll feel hungry enough to eat that much, unless you're used to it. You could probably eat a little more than half of that and keep your weight and maybe gain. Good luck!

Calorie Counting, makes me feel dizzy.:D
And on a personal note, I appreciate you wanting to keep your curves as well. Holllaaaaa! haha
What I do know from my own experience is that if your body doesnt want it, or if it's made from toxic stuff it will get rid of it. I went thru it. Until my body released enuff junk. Then the body rebuilds itself. That has been my experience anyway.
Looking at the menu, I would say add more greens, to balance things out. Make more green smoothies, just get those greens in there. I think eating 2 cups of nuts a day shouldnt be a problem, if it's balanced with the raw food triangle greens especially.... Other than nuts coconut oil in green smoothies can boost the caloric element. Also oils in salad dressings ( alissas gourmet Cesaer is a staple of mine) But I always balance it out with greens, always. Large bananas are good with the calories in smoothies as well, theres a lot to choose from other than nuts. But to create a internal balance, green it up...
Test out and see...

LMBO! Well, I know precisely where you're coming from...I've always had a big booty...not a "ba-DONK-adonk", but it was plenty there. ;)
When I first went raw, as I "shed my false body" (as Alissa calls it), the booty did start to dissipate; HOWEVER, once my body began to rebuild, it came back...not with a vengeance and not AS big as it was, but...well, I'll just say, dh ain't complainin'! LOL
But yeah, I don't do the calorie-counting thing, I just EAT. I don't limit my fat intake or anything like that and I stay pretty stablized at the weight range that seems to be what is right for MY 5'4" frame since I've maintained the same range for the past 3 years (except when I started back eating cooked for a little while, I gained some lbs.) but once back to raw, I got back to that same weight range.
I eat a lot of fruit and green smoothies - I don't really eat a lot of nuts by the handful but I DO drink banana AND cashew-based vanilla shakes, eat chocolate pudding made with either avocados or cashews, eat ice cream that is banana-cashew-based and stuff like that. Some never lose it, though...I think it just all depends! You can also do fanny-flattering (rather than flattening) exercises such as those "donkey-kick leg raises" (don't know the correct term for that exercise), etc.
But all-in-all...my BEST advice to you is to really try to moreso focus on the benefits you will get from eating raw FIRST and foremost and the vanity portion of it latter-most. I know we sista's like to keep what our mamas gave us...but it's a fair trade for better health and well being in all honesty!

LOL! I must be the odd one out because I never wanted "junk". A nice toned bum...YES, but I don't want anything to "shake". The less weight, the better. Sad, I know, but true.

I love having curves too! I really love my body with some extra padding on it rather then bony.
Unfortunatly when I went raw I lost so much weight that I was soooo skinny. I lost my butt, breasts and all the fat on me (for some that is a great thing). I ate tons of nuts, avocaodes and oils but I was still stick thin. Perhaps I didn't give it long enough to lose my 'false body' and regain a new one but I couldn't stand being that thin (among other things) so I am now about 50% raw and I have all my curves back and feel great!

If you strength train you can gain weight with muscle. Not sure what it'll do to your shape, but I know you'll gain muscle weight and tone up.

I have heard Doug Graham say that too much fats inhibit absorbsion of nutrients and that sometimes people have found that by seriously reducing the fats has caused them to gain weight.

You can be lean and curvy if you put on muscle. And I personally don't have the typical bubble butt that some women of color are known for. But I do want to still have a butt that is firm and high. It's getting there. I am a size 8 now and hopefully will be able to eventually get into a 4 or 6. Curves rule!
LOL@barose! Does anyone REALLY want their body to be able to shake or jiggle?

I've known a few people. :D
I know what you mean about the lack of a bubble butt. I live around a lot of hills and hiking trails and they have been great with rounding out my bum. A good pair of jeans and tailoring help too! Actually, jeans and pants can make or break you.

You know when I first started eating raw I lost a lot of weight. I was a little upset at first that all the "good stuff" was melting away along with all the bad stuff. But when I started thinking about all that unhealthy fat crowding around my body's organs I wasn't quite as upset. That was what that fat around my middle was doing! I am still a little skinny looking, but when I start lifting weights like I know I should, I believe that things will all come together nicely. Also I felt pretty good when my husband said that my body looks a lot like it did back in high school when we were dating! I am 44 years old, and he said my body looks a lot like it did when I was in high school!!! As I remember he thought I looked pretty hot back then!!! Yeah, the raw life is good!:p

WOW! Now that I think about it I guess the whole "bootylicious"( a term Snoop Dogg came up with years ago before Destiny's Child put out that song) thing and "I don't think you're ready for this jelly" highlights some people's desire to be "thick".
But I digress, I like to run so when I am going up hills I think about how awesome my behind is going to look if I continue to power up the hill to the top! It's my motivation! Also when I am not running, walking on a incline on the treadmill is very effective too.
I have been doing strength training and conditioning 3 times a week because I don't want to be "skinny fat".
I think anyone looking to GAIN weight should just make sure they are eating calorie dense foods and incorporate some serious weight training into their fitness routine.
