Hi,

I have been a lurker for about 2 months. I went 90% raw for 10 days and then got really sick. Once that cleared up I went back to around 50% raw. Over the course of the last 10 days we have had to attend so many end year school events and eat SAD food that by last night my gut looked like I was 6 mos. preggers. Just my gut - and I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago. I had horrible gas and cramps (sorry so graphic). My weight has slowly krept up almost 20 lbs from this time last year. My skin looks awful (although poisen ivy didn't help either). I have no energy, sex drive, suffer from depression for which I am medicated and would like to get off of, etc.

SO - I now have Alissa's book along with a few others and I am taking the plunge!! I will be here every day for support.

I will be slowly incorporating through the weekend as we have more grad parties to attend (and where I will make better choices) - Monday will be the official start.

I am a coffee drinker - mornings only - but I am going cold turkey starting tomorrow morning. It was quite liberating being at Barnes and Noble today and NOT going up to get a frappacino. I picked up two more books. I still need a dehydrator and juicer. Going to order those ASAP. I would love to wait for Alissa's but I need to get going. I do have double convection ovens that lower down to 135 degrees but not sure if that will work.

I guess before and afters would help with motivation - ick! :( Should I journal?

I will check back every day and hope to talk to many of you. Thanks

Dawn

welcome and good luck. Take it one day at a time and start today. This minute tell yourself that you will continue no matter what. Read Alissa's book and just eat all the raw food...fruits ....veggies..that you can.. have fun.

Good for you! I'm new to raw, only a couple months, and only part of that 100%, but it seems to me that you might have had a bit of detox when you got sick at 90%. How were you feeling?
As for journaling, it's totally up to you! Some do it, some don't. It's your decision. Good luck on your journey.

Baylianmom - I'm a newbie too. 100% for three days only. We can do this, I believe, with the support and help of everyone here. I was a lurker for quite a while and resisted starting because quite a few years ago I went raw and got sick, quit and never came back. I agree with Rastadawta, just eat all the raw foods you can, you might find that you don't need all the SAD temptations associated with the graduation parties. I understand, though, we had graduation last week and I put off starting until Monday. Good luck to you and I hope to see more of you on the boards.

Hey Dawn! Welcome! I agree, slow down a bit. You're diving in and the water is a tad bit shallow there. Don't get me wrong -yay for all your enthusiasm, but if you want to wait for Alissa's dehydrator, do it. Meanwhile incorporate green smoothies into your diet - THEY will really help with cravings. Keep it simple in the beginning. Good luck with all of this and we're here to help you! YAY YOU!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone for your replies. I jumped out of bed this morning and took the dog for a hike in the park. It's going to be 90 here in Michigan today - yeah!!!! Then I came home and did yoga and just made a smoothie. Can't get to the grocery until tomorrow so then I will start trying green smoothies.
This morning's smoothies was almond milk, ice cubes, stevia, flax oil, ground flax seeds, apple, mango and some avacado. I was hesitant on the avacado but was this Delish!!!!

NO COFFEE THIS MORNNG EITHER!!!

I will just keep trying to incorporate raw as I go along this weekend.

I feel very calm and ready to tackle my homework. I am in pre-nursing.

I did have one glitch this morning - I missed a green star juicer on ebay by about 5 mins.

I will keep looking and will look for everyone on the boards.
