I started drinking green smoothies today..and I am trying to do a smoothie fast/diet for this entire week..and maybe longer..I ran into a few problems today and I've figured out my answers to most of them..but there's one I still don't have an answer for..

By the end of the day I was SERIOUSLY craving salt by the end of the day...so I don't think i got any or enough..here is what I had in my smoothies today...apples, bananas, spinach, parsely, grapes, oranges, & avocado...basically I need to know if there is a veggie or fruit with some sodium in it so that I can get enough salt for the day?

Also..has anyone ever put any kind of seaweed in their smoothies b4?..and how did it taste?..I am trying to figure out how to get some B12 in my smoothie..if anyone has any other suggestion about what to put in my smoothie to get enough B12 that would be great:D

Try celery! That has a lot of sodium (and water).

I second the celery. I went through the exact same cravings after a period of green smoothies, and adding a couple stalks of celery to the green smoothies was the cure.

again, celery!

Also, you can vary your smoothie intake and make some that are more savory than sweet.

A virgin mary would be an easy, comfortingly familiar place to start (tomater, celery, a little sea salt, maybe some nama shoyu, cayenne, maybe some hot peppers, possibly some horseradish, greens of choice- I recommend cilantro or parsley- cuke spear or lime for a garnish)

Spirulina:
Organic Spirulina (Raw, ocean water grown) 16 oz

This is the most nutrient-rich blue-green algae in the world. This algae is grown in ponds filled with diluted ocean water drawn from a pipeline that plunges 2000 feet into the sea. Oceanographers state that this water has been below the surface since Old Testament times. This pipeline brings this ultra-pure, mineral rich water to supplement the Spirulina's growing environment with calcium, magnesium, and all the essential trace elements. No other Spirulina is grown with such a rich source of naturally occurring nutrients and minerals. This allows the plant to reach its maximum mineral capacity.

A cool ocean breeze drying method protects phytonutrients and enzymes. This product is packaged in brown glass with oxygen absorbers and sealing caps to protect the nutrients resulting in a high level of antioxidant quality when you receive it.

This Hawaiian Spirulina delivers:
• Antioxidant Vegetable Nutrition - Nature’s richest source of carotenoids
• B-Complex Vitamins - Supplies Thiamin, Riboflavin and Vitamin B-12• Iron - A daily dose provides more iron than two cups of spinach
• A complete protein - Richest source by weight in the plant and animal world
• GLA - Building block for nature’s anti-inflammatory healing, an essential fatty acid.
• Contains many other phytonutrients and food co-factors like Super Oxide Dismutase (SOD)

Hawaiian Spirulina is packed with nutrition:
300% more calcium than milk
2300% more iron than spinach
3900% more beta carotene then carrots
375% more protein than tofu

As a result, Spirulina is important for anyone needing additional nourishment including dieters, athletes, convalescents and the elderly. Just six tablets a day (3 grams) will help supply the nutrients lacking in most of our diets.

I put 1/2-1 teaspoon of kelp powder in some of my smoothies. You can get it in the smaller bulk sections of the health food store. And again for like the fifth time on here, celery for the natural sodium.
