I went to a raw food workshop and a gal there I know - I asked her where her husband was (he usually attends the workshops with her). She said he is recovering from surgery. they both went 100% raw a couple of years ago - and AFTER he went RAW - he began to form lumps on his body.... one behind his neck, one on his cheek, one on his back... (apparently there were about 5 or so lumps and I didn't ask where the rest were!). When he had them checked the dr said they were fatty deposits. Since they just kept growing larger he finally had them all removed. Isn't that ODD?? HAS ANYONE ELSE HEARD OF SUCH A THING? I asked her how eating 100% RAW could be blamed for 'SURE'... and she said that was the ONLY thing her husband changed was his diet - and that's what the dr told them caused it... (i'd like to believe the dr was CRACKED...  !)

I've heard of subaceous cysts (not sure if that is the correct spelling), but they are fat deposits from hair folicles. In fact I've had several removed from my scalp. Is he hair (do you know?), well, maybe he doesn't even need to be hairy to have them. Some textbook cases people have had thousands on their scalps. That is the usual place for them, but they can grow on other parts of the body. A hair shaft produces oil. Sometimes the oil does not travel down the hair shaft and builds up. This is what my surgeon told me. I had one ever since I was a little girl up until about 20 years ago on my scalp, the size of a walnut! My hair was long and I could cover it pretty well. I had that one removed - OUCH it hurt - stitches and all and where it had sat on my scalp, the bone had an indentation, which eventually rounded out. I look at the jar when I was changing where the cyst was and it looks like a clump of fat. Then last year I had 3 more smaller ones removed. One doesn't realize how much you use your scalp muscles until one has stitches. Even to raise your eyebrows.
So that's what I'm thinking they were.
Yeah, eating raw may have caused it because it could have been even a type of detox. But yeah, I think the doc blaming it on raw was a bit whack. Did the doc ever use the words subaceous cysts?
Here's a quick google explanation:
SUBACEOUS CYSTS
Subaceous cysts are slow-growing bumps containing dead skin, skin excretions, and other skin particles. These may be tiny and can appear anywhere, most commonly of the scalp, ears, face, back or scrotum. They tend to be firm and easy to move within the skin. Usually, they aren’t painful. When punctured, a cheesy, greasy material comes out. They can become infected. A doctor will very often remove this type of cyst

 Scrotum... owieee!! good thing I didn't ask where the rest of the bumps were!! thanks Vegan4Life- I'll bet that's what they were. He doesn't have much hair on his head - not bald - but very thin hair - no facial hair to speak of ... not hairy arms either. His wife was the one who used the term 'fatty deposits'...
The ones I could see that were on his neck and cheek - were pretty large - like a big walnut - but weird thing is - I saw it - but it wasn't like "horrible gotta stare at it" ... it was just something that was there... didn't phase me much...
But okay - that it explains it... thanks!

I bet I know what you're talking about! I had what my doc said was a sort of fatty tumor on my left side a few years ago. He said some people are just prone to get them sometimes. Y'know how mine started? As a knot from someone pinching me! Yeah, nothing to be worried about...until I started realizing it was growing instead of going away like normal knots. I think I had it for about 2, maybe 2 and 1/2 years before I finally got to a dr. to take it out. And what started as probably about a lump the size of a walnut, by the time I got it out, was about the size of a football. It didn't look that big on the outside though, but the doc said it went around my back and was almost to my spine. I shudder to think what kinds of problems I could have had trying to get it removed if I'd waited till after it'd reached my spine. And it wasn't malignant. Just a big, hard, fat filled lump. The technical term he used was "lipoma". It may not be the same thing, but what you said sure sounds close :)

Haha, mine was the starin' kind ;). Seriously, it was on my left side, just above my hip...stuck out pretty far, especially compared to my right side. And I LOVED getting squeamish friends to press on it...just to hear them squeal... lol:D
