Lattes, specifically. I really enjoyed those for the last ten years or so.

I'm 11 days as 100% raw, just gave up coffee cold turkey (as well as everything else). Thought I'd get a headache, never did. Not even a little headache, and I'm coming off of no less than four Venti soya lattes a day, PLUS two cups of regular coffee. No idea why I haven't experienced any physical symptoms of quitting caffeine overnight?

Anyway, for those who love and miss coffee, what do you use? I like the lattes for the milky taste and love the taste of soy, as rotten as that is for mind and body.

I was a latte and Diet Coke addict and I also went cold turkey. I've tried before being raw, but it never stuck more than a couple of days. I don't know why I was able to do it this time!

It has helped that I froth up my smoothie to give me some of the same foam tops as my lattes. I don't do almond milk, but I bet that would help too.

Very good quesiton, Muse! I haven't figured out the answer yet. Nothing has been a good subsitute for me and believe me, I have tried everything! I must admit, I still indulge in coffee/lattes a couple times/week even though with everything else I am pretty much all raw.

I am filled with justification and have never been able to get past my huge addiction/comfort with my coffee. It was like one of the biggest joys in my life! That, and a glass of red wine with dinner (which I pretty much have given up).

Good luck! and if you fnd the answer, PRETTY PLEASE do share!!

Try cold pressed coffee w/nut milk. You can get an aeropress.

Coffee is acidity with metals so when you make it cold press, it is less addictive and less headache.

I'd probably get annoyed if someone told me this....but I'm getting myself going with exercise in the morning instead of coffee. I just recently quit myself. I'm using coffee extract in banana smoothies to treat myself to the taste.
I'm happy for you that you quit though:)

Check out the thread: I finally found something to cure my need for coffee. Looks like an awesome drink recipe.

Meat and water of 1 young coconut
Brazil nut milk
frozen bananas
vanilla extract
raw cacao

blend together (ingredient amounts depend on your taste)

It's not real coffee, but it tastes like a coffee-like frappachino. :)

Im usually pretty satisfied with almond mylk latte
1/2 cup soaked almonds
1 1/2 cup water (I use warm water)
2-3 dates
1 tsp carob
small piece of vanilla bean or vanilla or almond extract.
a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg or spices of your choice

For a frozen version just add ice or a frozen banana

These two recipes sound delish! I was going to try adding alcohol free 'coffee' flavor I got for a Black Forest Cheesecake posted here; then I'm going to one of these days try 'teecino' http://www.teeccino.com/recipeindex.aspx using the nut milks. Also I'v been using a zucchini for milk (posted here) and it works great !

I've tried that same (or similar) recipe RawVee posted. It is seriously yummy and I would think it would help with that craving!

Do you make or buy BN milk? ANd how do you get the meat out of a coconut (what is young?). Okay, I am a newbie . . . i know nothing! I finally chopped through a hairy little coconut, and though the meat was good, I don't know an easy way to separate it from the shell. And the coconuts like in the Alissa vidoe, are they the kind we need?

Anyway, I just went cold turkey. Large coffees, throughout the day, always high kickin' caffeine. I miss the ritual more than anything else, or going somewhere and buying a cup and studying. But beyond that, I don't even think of coffee anymore. It was murder for the first week or so.

The recipe above sounds great, if I can learn to make it.

D&B,

I take a strong cleaver, shave down the pointy side of the coconut until the white part is gone, and then with the bottom sharp edge of the cleaver, give it a couple of whacks around the perimeter until I have made a little "lid" to pop off. Then I pour the water out and scoop out the meat. If the meat is firmer, I whack the coconut in half and scoop it out.

Do a search on here; there are a ton of threads about opening young coconuts, and even links to videos showing various ways to do it. :)

For the Brazil nut milk, yes, I make my own. Usually 1 part nuts to 2 parts pure water, blend thoroughly, and strain. I bought paint strainer bags at Home Depot for a couple dollars, threw them in the washing machine, and they work perfectly. Brazil nut milk has a very coffee-ish taste to me.

thanks, rawvee. I will have to try that. The coconut I have had a problem with is too hard, even the meat (it had no water in it, either). the Thai coconut, or whatever it's called, that Alissa has on the DVD is a much different taste, IMO. I guess there are different kinds. I don't know a lot about CoCoNuts
