I don't have Alissa's book yet "it's in the mail" but I was wondering if anyone is eating raw milk cheeses and/or if the are okay. I read somewhere that they were. I guess that depends on how you feel about dairy. Anyway I was just wondering.

There are some raw fooders who are not vegan or vegetarian and they incorporate raw dairy, and other raw animal products into their raw foods diet. You can do a search on the Paleo Diet for more on that. But this is a raw vegan/vegetarian forum so we don't get into that here. That's not what Alissa advocates in her book either, as you'll see once it arrives.

So, let's try and keep it vegan/vegetarian please! :) Thanks!

I would feel the majority of the folks here do not as this is a diary-free, animal-free forum.
Nut cheezes, yes, but dairy, no.

Raw dairy is not good for you since there is a higher possibility of contracting campylobact. which can be deadly. That is why nut and seed mylk is good for you, you won't die from it. peace

Obviously I haven't received my book yet. I haven't tried any raw cheeses since going raw but I was curious. Just fruits and veggies so far. Thanks for the info. I'll leave cows in the pasture where they belong.

I may have to check out the nut cheeses. Sounds weird but the whole raw thing sounded weird just a few weeks ago and here I am knee deep in it. :D

145ish - it's only as weird as one tends to make it. It totally makes sense and you will realize that once you have read Alissa's book and watch her DVD and listen to her. It is really the simplest or very complex (again, your call). It's Earth's diet, if you will. It now makes no sense and is weird that folks eat SAD/CRAP to me.
You will enjoy. It's fun, colorful, healthy and soooo good for you!

Hey 145ish, don't worry! You will get the hang of it all. The book and DVD answer a lot but there is also a lot of raw information out there in the "ether" on line and lots of books all over the place.
There are many different philosophies on raw so don't be afraid to ask. We all have our ideas of what raw is so just do your best to make it your own. This should be a safe environment for you to get your questions answered. With opinions, true, but some answers non the less. Congrats on going raw.

Oh and by the way, the nut cheeses are amazing. Just experiment. Add flavors you like. I like to add jalapenos. It gives the cheeses some heat!!

In peace!

I think it tastes absolutely delicious and understand it's supposed to be a lot healthier to digest 'cause it still has it's natural enzymes. supposed to.....Problem is, I still get a God-awful mucuous response to it. Have you omitted all dairy for an extended period of time to see how you feel?

dairy, raw or processed, is still not meant for our digestive tract.

If a cow was out back, as a grown human adult would you go back and latch on to it's udder, to nurse? If not, then you have no business using the milk in any other form, either. It is that unnatural and will still cause problems.

Milk is for baby cows. :-)
