I tried cilantro in a green smoothie for the first time. It was good, it was okay. I ordered a six-pack of cilantro from the hfs to do some heavy-metal cleansing, so I got a lot to play around with this week.
I was just thinking that I bet certain fruit would complement it and was wondering if anyone has any favorites to go with this very strong tasting green herb.
Oh, it was actually very, very complementary to a green lemonade drink.

I find that it blends very nicely in a smoothie with pineapple juice, apple, banana, avocado, parsley, cilantro and spinach or kale.

 I am one of the few raw fooders who despises cilantro! So, one day I got the bright idea to add some to a smoothie 'cause I know of the benefits it offers as far as being a blood purifier, etc. But that cilantro absolutely RUINED my otherwise luscious green smoothie!
But maybe one of the suggestions given here may help along (the recipe Tirza gave sounds really good) with adding LESS cilantro. I don't know...I'm almost scared to even try again. However, I DO love parsley in my smoothies! Does parsley have the same benefits as cilantro? If so, I'll just stick with that! :p

Cool thread. I can't use parsley and have been thinking of adding cilantro to my smoothies. I think I'll skip it...I have no problem jsut eating it! The slaw sounds like a winner.

It's funny how a few people cannot even go near cilantro! I'm the opposite...

As a heavy metal chelator, chorlella powder (sp?) would be a good substitute. I used gobs of it after my mercury fillings came out.

For some reason cilantro works really well with apples--fuji are my favorite.
Apples, cilantro, kale, and lemon makes a good green smoothie.

I also can't do cilantro in smoothies or other recipes (unless it is in the most tiny amount!). But parsley is fine as long as I don't use too much of it, I guess the stronger greens just aren't my favorites flavor wise!

I heart cilantro!
Cilantro is my new favorite. Never knew I like it. But I love it and love the smell of it! Yes it goes good in fresh made salsa and guacamole!
