I thought this worthy of sharing with my RFT family:
I have, after more than two years, overcome the temptations of unhealthy cooked foods. I didn't realize my addiction to cooked foods until I started eating raw. More recently, temptations have just been really bugging me. I can't say exactly what turned the switch except for this: Last night we went to a Mexican place for dinner. I usually order a vegetarian version of their taco salad and eat very little of it. Well last night I asked for a custom salad with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado and any other fresh veggies they had. I put a little salsa (more than likely cooked), and it was wonderful. As I looked around the table at the other people eating with me, all I could see was grease and fat and fried chips, and ruined cooked veggies. It was so LIBERATING! I wasn't tempted, I didn't want it, and I felt wonderful when we left. I have carried that feeling with me all day, and I feel great!
I don't know if it's reading all the threads here, working on the magazine, playing with new fun summer fruits and veggies, or what. I don't really care how - just that I am officially raw! Can I get an AMEN SISTER?!!!:D
Love to you all,
Anna

That is so wonderful. Congratulations!
It is amazing how your view of food changes after eating Raw. I used to love Oreos when I was a kid. As I watched an Oreo commercial the other day, all I saw was toxic chemicals shaped into a cookie. And those pizza commercials, don't get me started.
You have crossed over into the light:)

Glad to see Rawkinlocs gave you the Amen, and now I will add to it "SISTER"!
AMEN SISTER!
But we can not match the matchless enthusiasm of Starfire's AMEN SISTA!
I am not there yet. I am faithfully raw but still tempted. I watched as the rest of the family ate at Cracker Barrel and I have resisted Pizza and other goodies (is that like cursing here? lol)
It is nice, isn't eat, to turn that corner. I have in other things. All the best!

Way to go!!!:D
That is incredible! It is a sign this truely is a lifestyle change for you! I know when I was fasting all I could think about was wanting a yummy salad when I came off the fast. So I can relate with you. However, I am not over desiring all SAD food yet. So for me it will still take some time to totally be cured.

Thank you all so much.
I was thinking it must sound strange to some (especially those more new to the idea of eating uncooked foods) - "so, what's the big deal - you eat raw, fine," you might say. It's not really that simple.
I live in a cooked-food world. We all do. But more close to home, my entire family likes the idea of raw food, and can appreciate a few recipes, but chooses cooked for the most part. So I am tempted with literally every single meal of every day, as I am the chief chef in the house.
My liberation came while looking across a table at a Mexican food restaurant - again, I have no explantion for the timing. It was as if I had made the transition, finally. It is no longer just a different and more healthy way to eat for me, it is my choice through and through. It's who I am.
I AM RAW!!

Congrats and thanks for sharing, Anna! It's really helpful to hear from folks who've struggled and then turned the corner. Gives hope to those of us still struggling.
Best,

I'd like to add one thing I've noticed this past week. It may be completely psychological, but my physiology around mealtime has also changed. After eating, I feel clean and rejuvenated. I remember this feeling from when I first went raw a few years ago, but haven't experienced it again since. I believe it's a state of mind that allows me to feel the full impact of my food choices. Again, this goes way beyond what I choose to eat...hard to explain.
Rawmney, the reason I posted this was to share my excitement of this transition, but also to encourage others. I know of people this has happened to, but didn't think it would happen to me. I thought it was only for single folks that live in Costa Rica and drink rain water, and attend a daily farmers market, and don't have any electrical appliances in their homes, etc...well, I am living proof it is not!

I always feel so good when I can skip the temptation! I know I've caved recently, but I'm back...and ANNA, you are truly an inspiration!! I always feel victorious when I don't cave, and I can hear others grumbling about their stomach hurting after a large meal!
You gotta love raw!!
Congratulations....waiting to cross over myself!!

I thought they probably used stewed tomatoes - but maybe not. Don't see why anyone would, really...
