Hi,

I just started the RAW food diet a week ago. I would say i've been 90% RAW the entire time. I just got introduced to green smoothies yummm. Though I've been adding whey into them... which brings me to my concern.

I have always been health concious and fit. I actually thought about personal training and being a nutritionist. However, I just stopped college and got a full time job in the the entertainment industry. I noticed the job kept me stressed and I didn't have time to be as health concious as I was before I had the job. I noticed I was spending so much time thinking about how I was still going to get a workout in and what time and what I should eat. Kinda hard to get better at my job and still be a full time athlete. So I stopped worrying about what I was going to eat and tried to get a workout in here and there but I felt horrible. Drinking coffee all day to stay up, bloated, lazy. I had gained a few pounds (which most people would call vanity pounds since I am pretty small to begin with) and it didn't feel comfortable.

That's when I decided to start RAW. This whole week has been pretty good. I have a lot of energy but I can feel the detox at times. I get some headaches and acheness. I have been sleeping a whole lot better and my mind feels clearer. I posted earlier about having loose stool every morning and being concerned about it. People told me it was detox and that it's normal. My main concern loosing a lot of weight. Maybe 1 or 2 lbs but no more than that. I like to work out but I'm wondering if I do i'll loose a lot of weight. That's why i've been incorporating whey protein in my smoothies. I like having muscle. Should I hold off working out during detox? Begin up again once my body gets used to RAW?

Lose the whey and get some hemp powder...super lean protein! Just be sure to eat enough! This is the most nutritious food on earth and your body will thrive. It's the bulky SAD diet that leaves people malnourished inside of a toxic fat suit!

If you eat plenty of lean protein (Spirulina, hemp)- get a few fats in your avos and a couple handfuls of nuts, weight train and do short, intense cardio (HIIT) , you will stay healthy, w/o losing muscle mass.

Your body will reach its ideal weight and level off with a nutritious and COMPLETE diet such as this. I have had NO problem with staying muscular and strong with this plan, other than a little lethargy while detoxing in the first couple of weeks. Then...I got an amazing surge of energy that has remained. It rocks!

I read from another raw fooder (Jinjee & Storm) that to add/maintain weight they eat alot of celery - especially their kids. They chop it up popcorn size and sprinkle sea salt on it. It's hard to believe that celery will hep maintain your weight - but they say it does.

Hey there! Welcome!
I second the post about losing the whey. It's a milk by-product. It's nasty stuff. You gotta remember dairy, whatever form is a BIG MONEY MAKING BUSINESS! What other species drinks the milk from another? None! Us and they make money off of us. Sorry, enough of that.
I agree about the hemp. Not THAT is good stuff. I don't know about the celery, but I trust Storm and Jinjee's judgement. Just look at them and their kids. They are living proof of health.
Yes - start adding avo's, nuts, coconut oil into your diet. These are GOOD fats. Your body will use them.
Yes - take it easy working out while detoxing. You'll know. Listen to your body.
And incorporate green smoothies - these magical drinks RAWK! They are very filling and yum-oh!
Once again - welcome!
