View Full Version : Ice Cream Maker

I just bought an ice cream maker. The ice cream so far comes out like custard. I would think I could freeze it for two hours, then put it in a vitamix instead.
Did anyone have any good results with the ice cream maker? Do you all put it back in the freezer to firm up?

Just a suggestion: leave your icecream mix in the fridge overnight, so it will thicken, then put through your icecream maker.
Icecream is frozen custard. Most good frozen icecreams have a creme anglaise or custard base.

Yes, mine comes out like the soft-serve kind. I just put it into another container and put it back in the freezer and then it's just like ice cream.

Would it come out the same to use the vitamix, and place it in a regular bowl?

I want to get an ice cream maker but what ones are worth looking at? Anyone have suggestions. We have one but it requires ice and rock salt and I just don't have the patience! ;)

Hey Weezie! I have a 1.5 Rival ice cream maker. It's easy, simple to clean and was reasonable. I think like $25-30? Think I got it about 4 years ago at Target. It works great. Yeah, I couldn't do the rock salt and all, that's too much work :p
