I went raw yesterday but I'm reading so much about how it's very important to go on a cleanse before starting. Is this true? If so, what fast/cleanse do you recommend is the best? Thanks alot!

It may help to go on a juice fast for a few days to clean the colon or if you have good habits, try adding molasses, lime, and water in the morning.

Eating raw is a cleansing way to better health - really no need to fast beforehand ~ Cathy

No, but I'm going to do some sort of fast and cololnic in a few months (raw 2 months already). Its not required to do it at all, but I have "special needs". Just go raw and see how you feel in the next few months.

I'll be 19 months raw...tomorrow :)
All I can say is that I've never done any fasting or cleansing, etc. in my entire life. Since being raw, my body has naturally detoxed...I've gone through cycles of detoxification here and there, but it's been very gentle for me. I have an autoimmune condition so I don't want to put stress on my organs by intentionally cleansing...It would flare me up too much IMHO :)

For me, I did a 30 day cleanse before raw. But this was before the Green Smoothie rage ( which Im a rager of) I think the foods are cleansing enough... But it's a personal choice. Certainly will only help ya either way. When I did my 30 day cleanse, after it was done I was soooo hungry for anytype of food that the first week or so of eatin raw was a breeze, cuz I just wanted soooommme food lol!

Most go raw first...
Then, you can incorporate some cleanses if you wish. But raw at first is enough of a cleanse, yes.

I agree. Be a long-time raw food person first....at the level/goal that YOU have chosen....THEN decide if you want to take it to the next level.

I agree with what most have said, go raw first. Why? Most likely you will have detox symptoms from going raw. If you incorporate a fast with that then the detox will be even greater.
Go raw, take it one step at a time and if you feel the need to do a cleanse after you've been raw for a while (at least 6 months) then do so but I personally wouldn't try it before hand. Also, as others have said, going raw is a cleanse.
