I'm just beginning this way of eating and I'm still trying to rid myself of the diet mentality but I can't help but think that if I start adding dehydrated items that it will hinder weight loss. Will it?

It is pertinant that in the beginning you allow yourself to become adjusted to eating raw. If this means having the occasional (or more or less often) dehdydrated item(s) in order to help you stay the course, then so be it.

Some may say that it will/could hinder weight loss and for some, this may be true as with eating one too many nuts - but many...I mean MANY people have had successful weightloss simply following Alissa's plan as outlined in her book and DVD and this means pretty much eating raw...period.

I'd say to have the items if you need them and monitor yourself - you don't have to eat them daily or for every meal but they are sometimes nice to have when you just want something a little "more" in addition to fresh fruit and veggies.

I'd say only add dehydrated foods as a last resort to keep you raw

I actually think its a great addition to RAW. So far I've only really used it to dehydrate fruits, veggies, and sprouted buckwheat, but it's helped in transitioning. ;)

Yeah, I agree with everyone. If I hadn't incorporated some dehydrated crackers and veggie chips after my first raw journey I would have fallen off. Eating some dehydrated foods really helps keep the raw journey interesting. I make sure I don't go overboard though by eating a lot of dehydrated foods. Plus I find even after adding the dehy. foods I'm more drawn to fresh produce, like salads and fruit.

lots and lots of opinons! B/c everyones experience and journey is different.

I followed the 30 day plan layed out by Alissa in her book. It was easy - simple to follow and since I had no idea what I was doing - it helped me stay on track! Some days I just couldn't eat everything cuz I was just so full! but - all in all - I followed that plan until my 3rd week - then I started exploring a bit and started adding dehydrated foods .. which is when Alissa begins to incorporate the dehydrated foods anyway.

of course - Alissa's 30 day plan is just an idea - you can change it - eat different recipes - whatever.

Following Alissas plan - I lost 30 pounds in the April 2007 30 day challenge. it was a miracle - and a blessing.

good luck! If you don't already have Alissa's book AND DVD - I would HIGHLY recommend it -- no way could I have made it through without it! It was the BEST gift I have ever given myself!:D

I don't do dehydrated because I don't feel my best on them, however, that doesn't mean it won't work for you. Just going raw you may feel you need or prefer dehydrated foods or complex meals until you get used to the raw. Don't worry about weight too much.
