what do you use as a base?
Is it water or juice? I've been using orange juice.
I'm wondering what else i could use.

You can use anything you want ~ if you feel to juice it. Celery juice, apple juice... water, whatevah!

I've actually got a whole book on it and there are hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of recipes here. THOUSANDS!!! :p

Lately I've been using nut mylk and spinach juice. But yes, the possibilities are endless!

Coconut mylk
Water
OJ
Pineapple juice
Apple juice

I often use pineapple juice for the digestive enzymes and because of the way it tends to blend so well with the flavors of the greens.

Use whatever tastes good to you. I sometimes use coconut water, orange juice, or just water.:)

I'm too lazy - just use spring water; pulverize three handful of greens; then add my frozen fruit and blend. ~ Cathy

Oh - I also incorporate Spirulina and Alissa's green food powder into every smoothie.

I only use water.

2 cups of water
2 bananas
frozen blueberries, cherries, raspberries or peaches
some cacao, maca or mesquite
1 T coconut butter
about 3 handfuls of greens, usually spinach or kale

I do most of the time, BUT, you should try nut mylk. It really makes it taste totally different.

I'm lazy, I use all kinds of green, but just filtered water and banana to sweeten it.

I agree about the nut milk. I haven't bee using nut milk per se, but I have been adding a small handful of nuts to my green smoothies lately along with the water, and they have been DELICIOUS!

I use coconut water for fruit/green based smoothies.

I use brazil nut milk for creamier raw chocolate types :)

My frozen fruits have been enough for a base. If I want it more liquidy, I just add ice or some kind of fruit juice if it isn't sweet enough.

I just use water, the various fruits I use make the smoothie sweet and refreshing.

I've only ever had time for water, 2 cups greens, 1-2 bananas, and 1/4 pinapple/ 2 apples/pears/oranges, or whatever else I have.
My freezer is outside about 150 feet away, so with 2 little boys to watch I use fresh all the time :)

I put three for four green apples through my juicer and use that for my base supplemented with ice and water. But that gives me enough energy to go do many hours of challenging physical labor- I'm landscaping and housecleaning. So, I say I get my money's worth out of my green smoothies!

In the past I have used both but I tend to like water best. It's easier and doesn't require having to clean the juicer AND blender. I like to keep everything simple....well actually I just hate doing dishes, I can't lie =)
