I am just wondering why you are raw? To be honest I am doing it for health and not humane issues, I understand how the "humane" people think but I dont think that way. I love to fish and my husband loves to eat fish. ;)

Just wondering why YOU went raw?

I did it for health issues. Having PCOS, endometriosis, infertility, hypothyroid, insulin resistance and intolerant to gluten, dairy and allergic to soy really makes me think about my food choices. :)

Health. Food allergies basically led me to this path. I felt there was no other option. I'm so glad I made this choice.

I'm doing it for health and beauty...about 9 months ago I went to a party where everyone was raw and had the 'glow'...these were some beautiful people...I'd been raw before (two years) yet didn't have enough knowledge to keep me going...

Now, thanks to this forum I know I'm not alone and I learn new things everyday.

I get told I'm calmer and that my skin looks great (first time in my life it's been blemish free) and my energy level is very high.

I just did it by choice after:
a. I read 'Natural Cures' by Kevin Trudeau
b. Read about BARF (for dogs) on www.boxerworld.com and how that diet helps cure many ailments that are so common in dogs

I never really had any health problems; I always thought I was healthy. But until I read Kevin's book, I never realized that it is not normal to have a common cold every once in a while; or to have any body odor or bad breath; or to have oily hair or acne even as an adult.
I don't even remember how I came across this website, but the information available to me here confirmed everything that I could see wrong with other people. My grandmother, my parents, my sister, her kids...my ex's. So even though I felt I was healthy, it was my choice to go RAW because it makes sense.

My reasons are in my screen name!:D Specifically cholesterol and pre-diabetes. Turns out it also took care of many other things, including allergies.

I wonder how many of us are here! In the short time I've been raw, its really improved all of my symptoms more than anything else I've ever tried.

I went vegan over 7 years ago for ethical reasons, and I went raw over a month ago for health reasons. If I can prevent cancer - I'm down! :D

My mother at the ripe age of 72 had 1/2 her colon removed last year due to cancer. It scared the beejeebee's out of all of us. On my last visit she was on an organic kick so the whole week we ate orgainic and I noticed that I felt better when I got home (earlier this month). I continued to do organic then I started reading more about eating raw and I just could not stop reading. Within a week I had so many fruits and veggies in the fridge I wasn't sure if there was still a light bulb in there. I did my first raw day on 5/26/07.

I have high cholesterol, I'm past chunky I'm plain old fat, and with my mother going through what she did in such a heroic way there was no way I could say no to raw. I looking forward to being healthier and making her proud.

I read Leslie Kenton's "Raw Energy" and realized that there was no reason to keep eating bad food. It took a half year to journey to all raw, but now rawdom is a fantastic experience. :D

ENERGY reasons. When I eat traditional pasta, which I love, as well as other cooked foods, I feel sluggish. It's actually quite noticeable to my children, as well as to me.

Right now the count is 3 raw cysters! I am sure there are more out there, lurking... Being raw has definately helped my symptoms.

health reasons...chronic fatique, fibromyalgia, bipolar and food allergies as well as cat allergies and I love my cat...now I have two and no problems. It seems like a no brainer to me. Eat raw foods and feel great and be med free or eat all that other junk with a handful of pills everymorning and feel like crap. I'd much rather have a green smoothie in the morning over a handful of meds any day.

I think people go vegan more often for animal cruelty reasons than raw vegan. There are no cruelty arguments to eat raw food as opposed to vegan food, only health arguments. Most vegans take a whole life approach to veganism, not wearing leather/ wool/ etc.. or purchasing beauty products with animal ingredients, and not eating honey. I have not read much about how raw vegan's feel about these issues, but raw vegans seem to be more vegan food oriented (except for honey I have noticed). For those coming from SAD who are having a hard time giving up animal products, cruelty issues might be a good angle to push them to give them up.

I went raw in the beginning for health reasons and stayed raw for ethical/environmental reasons. It's all connected, the way I see it!

:) :) I went raw primarily for health reasons - I just wanted to feel better and I knew the weight loss would come so I didn't focus on that. Boy did I get bonuses! Like serenity, boundless energy, better sleep, clarity of mind, loss of depressing thoughts, more patience with my children....and on and on!!!;) :p

HA HA HA hell yes, me too! Well that and for health reasons. I went vegetarian and then vegan for ethical reasons but this switch is like a combo of it all. Health, ethical, environmental and bringing sexy back reasons.

I initially was drawn to raw because of a weight loss story I read. But my reasons for choosing it and now choosing to stay on it was 1) To feel/be healthy so I can be a better wife and mother, and 2) To hopefully lose weight.

I echo the weight loss/health reasons. I went raw with my daughter as she also has weight issues and I know I have contributed to that. We are doing it together to be beautiful. We were already vegan for health and ethical reasons. This was the next step for us.

Health. I was at my wit's end. It was either this, or (and I was seriously thinking of this), going to the next level. i.e. leaving this circle called Earth. I wasn't living, I was (barely) existing. Living with pain every day. In case you haven't read how I've healed myself of pain from migraines and a non-functioning thyroid - check this out:

http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=26306

Oh, and I'm so glad I didn't need to take that other trip! This one is way more fun! I'm finally living!!! YAY!!!!

health, with some weight transformation issues on the side, and also, I *love* fruit!

Ok, also, I totally like food that doesn't require** that you do anything fancy to it. Just the way creation made it.

** fancy recipes are also nice from time to time, but the less time I have to spend on a recipe, the more time I can spend doing other things too ;)

I went vegan first, for ethical reasons.

Then into raw, for health reasons.

I still think vegan is more important - doesn't matter how raw you are with no water, trees or ocean. Plus, supporting animal cruelty is toxic energetically.
