Well, I think I have it another milestone with my health, diet, and lifestyle. Not sure how to explain it, but I can just feel it inside. I am finally comfortable to do green smoothies, but I have a few questions/comments.

1) Is it better for digestion to do basically 1 type of fruit and greens or is a combination of a bunch of fruits ok? Probably not optimal is it?

2) Ever heard of Microgreens? I think they're a step up from sprouts (i mean, a little older than sprouts). I got them at TJ's today.

3) Maybe this is just me. Let's say I have 3 apples in a sitting. That doesn't get me nearly as full as applesauce does with 3 apples. I don't know if it's because it's more "digested" or something. When I eat I tend not to chew as much as I should. The same happens with green smoothies. It lasts me about 5 hours or more for 12oz of green smoothie. I fourced myself to finish all that I made that day though and I felt SO full all day. It was a different "full" than I've ever felt before. SHould I listen to my body and not fource myself to finish it all?

4) Having a little green smoothie every few hours would be the same metabolism wise as eating every few hours, correct?

i'll answer the few i can:

1. i mix more than one fruit w/ greens & feel just fine
2. nope, never heard of microgreens -- but will look it up.
3. listen to your body, why force? is there a medical reason? if not, just listen to your body.
4. yes, eating or drinking something caloric every few hours (green smoothie or whatever) will keep your metabolism humming right along

milestones are good :)

here's my take:
1) my smoothies consist of 1 type of greens and 2 fruits, i think with the green smoothies the benefit outweigh the cost of ingesting 2 types of fruit
2)never heard of microgreens- google might though!
3)i wouldn't force yourself to finish it all, i usually make a ginormous amount but get so full drinking it that i leave about an inch each time, i think it's better to be full but comfortable than popping at the seams.
i think the reason applesauce fills you up more than raw apples is because of volume- liquid (applesauce) takes up some space ya know?

Hi!
Green smoothies are a pool I'm slowly dipping my big toe into...or big spoon.:p But I can tell you that in some of my gardening magazines, microgreens are considered regular lettuces or types of greens but cut from the stalk when they are really young and small. Hope that helps! OH! and one more thing, my favorite green smoothie of choice right now is mango and spinach in a 1:1 ratio - one mango to one good handful of greens. That's a good recipe for your one fruit/one veg. combo's!
