Where is the new location? I've never been there, but my parents have. They were there about a year ago to pick up a special allergen free vegan cake from the bakery that was next door. They did say that the location at that time was tough to get to given the lack of parking. They said the restaurant was very nice though and allowed them to bring in a pastry from next door and eat it there. I've never been tempted to go there given their limited menu and my food allergies. Looks like there are almonds in most of their food and if not that, then gluten and soy. The food does look good though.

I just checked out their new menu, the location is on 50th and 12th in the University District. It is actually located very close to where I grew up (many years ago!).

I've not been there yet, but I hoped to make it over sometime this summer. I live over in Kitsap County so I am a ferry ride away (Bainbridge to downtown Seattle). If I make it over I'll post what I think, what was it that you didn't like? I'm curious what menu items you tried.

I thought it was good, not gourmet, but good and affordable.

I started off with their Really Really green smoothie and it was fantastic! Perfect taste and texture, mmmm
My sister-in-law and I went together with my two boys and shared, so we got to try 2 dishes each, the pizza (Pizza Margherita) and lasagna. This was our first taste of both dishes (I have never made a pizza or lasagna) and we found them to be delicious! I have been gazing at the pics of ppls creations online for so long I wished that the pizza had more varied toppings on it, and the lasagna was not very fancy (not 12 layers like yours Carmella ) but all in all it was very good, all dishes were under $10, beautifully presented with lots of greens, tomatoes, sprouts etc., and the portions were great, not too big or small.
My sweet son had a side dish of avocado and some Carob pudding that was very rich and amazing!! (We bought 3 total to take some home to share )
For dessert I had a slice of carrot cake with icing and it was very good, nicely spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and cardimon?
A very good place to eat, my in-laws are not raw but she blogged about it and said we will have to go back and take our husbands! Yay!!

I've been here more times than my finger and toe combined. I've tried pretty much all the raw creations. I really like the smoothies- a little smaller than other places but thicker and not syrupy like Jamba Juice and stuff. The juice is good but a little pricey. All the nut based entrees are hard for me to digest so I don't eat them anymore. I did like the pizza- they swich the toppings though from time to time- I think it was garlic lovers pizza that was my fav. :) My favorite thing to get there is there raw basil lemonade and the chocolate carob pie. :D

Probably the worst thing for me was the cheesecake. I didn't really like it and didn't feel it was worth my $6.00 for a slice.

I would say Chaco is hardcore. I would NOT take anyone skeptical about raw there.

I've had the lasagna... thai thing.. raspberry tart... carob tart... pizza. The pizza & desserts were probably the best. One dish had a side salad with a nice salad dressing. The lasagna was disgusting, basically shredded zucchini & sundrided tomatoes. The worst raw dish I've ever tasted in my life.

They use a lot of raw "offendors." Tons of almond butter, most of the desserts have cashews, and nama shoyu. So I don't go often....

I agree. A few years ago, I didn't really know a lot about raw food and I was interested in how eating out would taste. My brother and I went to Chaco and both split a few entrees. Eekkk.....I didn't look back to raw food for quite some time. I am not big on the entrees at all. Don't like them.
I do love their salads. They have the best greens and their dressings are amazing. On the vegan side, I have had non-vegan friends order and love the basil pesto melt. Definately a fav! :)

sheesh...I am going to have to start getting used to this kind of criticism. I am going to start selling my cheesecakes this wednesday...Possibly tomorrow. I have given samples out to my customers and everyone loves it. Even keep asking me (constantly) when I am going to start selling them.

So the time is here that I can start selling them...

Also, this week I am selling Cinnamon Rolls & Fudge Balls rolled in coconut.

Once I have perfected my entrees I will start selling them too.

I finally hired someone to make the smoothies so I can concentrate on making the food.

We are a juice bar in Snohomish, WA...'bout 20 minutes from Seattle. we also sell Green Smoothies. Our juices aren't organic yet..but our food will be. (My leafy greens for the smoothies are organic though.)

Don't be scared! Most people (including me) love raw desserts and smoothies!!! :) Yes, sometime entrees are contraversal but I wouldn't worry about negativity towards sweets! Who can resist?? :p

Well...I made up 10 cheesecakes and sold 3 so far. I make 7" personal cakes and sell them for 10 bucks. They are quite tasty, I must say. :p

It's not just the raw customers..it's the ones who don't or can't do dairy too.

I sold out of my cheesecakes quick. I made Coconut Fudge Balls today. I am working on Cinnamon Rolls today too. I think I might go for a Raw Bakery type thing..until I can perfect my entrees.

The cheesecake you make sounds good zella, all you can do is try and people can be rude i know how you feel, but go for it if your gut tells you to. Along the way you will get feedback on wot people like, want and prefer too.


As for Chaco I am not trying to be mean. I had the salad nicole or sumthn like that once and the thai grinder which looked as thu someone had put the nut filling in a tuna can and plopped it on the cabbbage salad~ the tangy miso glaze was delicious thou.


They were looking for help the last time I was there, but i don't live in town or i sure would of applied. The place has much potential.

The new place is rather cold and impersonal looking compared with the cozy warmth of the other location that had the added bonus of being next to the flying apron.

i think they made a mistake when they moved. They should of stayed put..... but wot do i know?
