Okay, so my loved one and myself are going to a vaction! We want to go some centeralized area that is super raw-food friendly! A place that has a couple raw food resturaunts and/or a market with other fun stuff to do. We figured a place like this existed in California (we've never been) but then I got to thinking that other states might have super-friendly raw areas, also. Any Ideas?:p

I don't know much. But I know NYC has a ton of raw options. More importantly (for practical, not commercial reasons), Alissa lists a TON of places - broken down by state - as an appendix to her book!

There's a list of raw restaurants right on this site I believe. Not looked at it so don't really know how many are listed or where they are.

Might also consider a raw retreat: http://www.therawretreat.com/

New York is a fantastic place to be raw!

In NYC, the area around Union Square is a mecca of raw living. You have a Whole Foods, a green market, Lifetyme market, Pure Food and Wine, Quintessence, Live Live, Trade Joes, tons of smaller health food stores, vegan restaurants and smoothie places... on and on!

On the island, there are some fantastic wineries and farms. One of the most glorious summer activities is a drive out to the hamptons for a tour of the vinyards and farmstands.

Upstate there are loads of great farms and apiaries. The Stone Barns organic restaurant and farm is especially fantastic.

San Francisco has a couple raw restaurants and some amazing farmers markets. The saturday farmers market at the ferry building even has 3 or so raw booths. And plenty of sights to see. San Diego also has a couple restaurants (and plenty more in orange county)...and is more vacationy if you ask me. SF is a great place to visit, but keep in mind our summers can be mighty cold.
