I was so dedicated to eating raw food, then I started listening to my best friend who works for Jenny Craig and she pushed me to start doing the program in order to lose weight and I'm sick again!!! I've lost only 5lbs in a month and I work out everyday an hour to hour and a half. I am a recent breast cancer survivor at the age of 29 and Know better than to put chemicals and perservatives in my body but I am so despret to lose the weight i was willing to do anything and now I am battling being ill all the time! How do I tell my best friend i am done eating boxed food, because she thinks she knows better.

Don't compromise your health just because of peer pressure! You don't have to tell your friend anything, your health is YOUR responsability! Don't wait, take care of your body NOW you've seen what happens when you don't, now watch what happens when you do. ;)

Just tell her, "Dr. Alissa's orders."
lol.
Your friends will respect your right to your own convictions. :)

Jenny Craig is a good program, but not for a raw foodist! They suggest a lot of fresh fruits and vegtables to go with their outrageously priced meals.(all processed food) I started my weight loss journey by doing 6 weeks of JC. and I lost 8-10 lbs and spent about 400.00 plus dollars. It did get me off my sugar rollercoaster, but I could of saved some money and just ate some raw foods.:D I still eat at 8:00, 10:00, 12:00, 2:00, 5:00, and 8:00! I like a regular eating schedule, but if I feel hungry I eat! Raw of course!

Victoria Boutenko suggests saying at least 3 sentences that emphasize how you appreciate your friend's effort, then being firm on your decision and then presenting an alternative.
For example:
You are so nice to be concerned about my health. I really appreciate your efforts to help me eat a healthy diet. It's great to have friends who care.
But I know that the best diet for me is raw foods and I'm going to stay on that.
So maybe some time you can come over and taste some of the great foods I get to eat.
(Haven't used it yet myself, but seemed to make sense).
Best and be well,

I don't really know anything about the Jenny Craig other than knowing they are processed dinners. I think your body will benefit from the live foods - since it is healing and transitioning from the cancer.

I just got the best reminded of why raw food is awesome. My mom had slacked off and she went from being a vibrant superwoman on raw to a tired and CRANKY woman  She went back to raw with green smoothies and lemonade and she's feeling awesome and full of energy again.
Having once been 300lbs and constantly on various diet, I can tell you - she *never* had the vitality that she does now Ten even fifteen years ago on all those Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig plans, she never had the energy to do more than go to work and come home. Now she teaches college, tutors, goes to seminars and workshops every day. I don't even have the energy that she does!
I think the planet and nature know how to help people lose weight versus someone who packages processed pancakes and meat loaf destined for a microwave.

I know you will be vibrant and radiating beautiful GLOWING HEALTH again very soon! I survived a recent cookout by taking my own food. I fixed myself the spicy tacos recipe that was shared on the RFT site. When I walked in - everyone thought I had brought some yummy appetizer to share... (I did bring enough so that I could hand out a few 'small' tastes! ;) ) But I love that recipe so I didn't feel like I was 'missing out' on anything. I also made sure to eat b4 I left the house so I wasn't ravenous when I got to the cookout. When we're dealing with our health ... it's alot easier to make those changes in social situations than I thought it would be. I worried for days - and then it all turned out so easy and stress free! Blessings! you'll do fine! ;) :D

StarFire gave good advice and I'll add based on taking my picnic to a concert Saturday night. Think about what other people are going to have that will mak you most jealous and then take something at least as good. It could be similar, like a mock meat, or it could be something totally different like really yummy fruit salad.
My mistake was not thinking this through in advance. So I made a cole slaw, which no matter how good was never going to compete in my head with the typical cooked picnic fare.
Happy ending though. Because I've been almost 100% since May 1, even though I felt bad about what I wasn't having I did not have that wild ravenous need to get some of it on the way home! Also, last night I went to a cooked vegan restaurant and was surprisingly un-envious of what was around me.
Good luck!

I've made some dishes while raw that actually taste so much like meat that I was turned off... search around (or email me) and you can find the cookout fix. One trick? Bring a watermelon - nothing more raw, delicious, and FILLING. =)
On a different note, I'm in awe of your strength and courage in confronting and beating breast cancer. If you can do that, what the heck chance does a grilled hot dog stand? You GO girl.

i find the more i talk about raw food lifestyle the more critisizm i draw towards me so i find not talking about it all unless someone is really interested seems to be the best way for me. I dont need any negativity in my life lol
ive also resorted to outright lying and feigning food allergies lol to people that *PUSH* the issues :)
... jenny craig made meals ..oh yea ..i think i had an allergic reaction to those once
