From about 7:30 last night until now I ate about 1/2 of a 25 lb watermellon. I put some in a blender and drank it up before going for a run. I had more when I got back. More before I went to bed. More when I got up this morning and I made another 20oz watermelon smoothie and took it to work. I will have something different in the afternoon but for now all I want is watermelon.
Is is too much? What about the sugar? Yeah, I still worry about that

There is absolutely no such thing as too much watermelon. That's like saying there's too many cherries!!! Not even possible!!!
Enjoy! :D

Thats a good price! Mine was .69 lb at 25 lbs. At least it was organic, but I think the non-organic ones are pretty clean anyway so Ill go for that next time. It was worth every bite and sip and I still have 1/2 one left!

How I love watermelon--- always have. When we go down south (the country girl comes out) for family reunions guess who wins the watermelon eating contest? Yes- we actually had watermelon eating contest.
Barose- I have actually on many many ocassions taken out a watermelon in a day (this was way before raw). I remember my best friend and I used to go grocery shopping and we would buy two so that he could have one to himself and I could do likewise.:D
As a matter of fact, I have two nice big bowls of fruit that I had intended to take to a work picnic which I didn't make it to today and so now I guess I'll have to call my nieces and nephew and so that we can all enjoy the good watermelon.
It's so hydrating isn't it? I could go on and on about watermelon. When I eat watermelon, I don't have to drink much water which makes since of course....
Happy Watermelon Eating on this Fantastic Friday!

I actually had more endurance running yesterday after having the watermelon "smoothie" - almost like when I drink young coconut water and run. Mmmmmm

Question for you barose:
how are you able to drink right before you run? If I drink right before a run, midway through I would have to go to the bathroom!

I don’t know! I guess I sweat it out :o . I do try to go beforehand though. If I dont have enough fluids in me before going out, I usually get an awful stitch in my side.

Enjoy... some have fasted on watermelon. I know David Wolfe mentions it in his books. Alissa mentions it, I just read a blurb about it on her "watermelon soup" page in her book. Here's some more about it from Angela Stokes' website:
WATERMELON FASTING
I have just completed a spontaneous four-day watermelon fast and wanted to share a little about the experience. Up until about 10 days ago, I had never considered the idea of fasting on watermelon, but when it was mentioned to me, my whole being cried 'YES :)', so when the moment felt right, I went into it…and it has been joyous and unlike any other fast I've done before. My pattern tends to be that I get very low in energy when fasting and require a lot of rest. On this occasion, I have slowed down as usual, but to nowhere near the same degree as normal. I have found the whole experience so SATISFYING too – whenever I have the impulse to consume something, the delightful answer is 'watermelon' and it feels so sweet and yummy and easy :). Watermelon fasting is not generally recommended for more than four days and it is not for everyone ( e.g. those with diabetes/hypoglycemia), so do be cautious, however, it IS great for cleansing the blood, supporting the kidneys, healing cysts, canker sores and tissue inflammation, reducing hypertension and acting as a natural diuretic. http://www.rawreform.com/content/view/116/76/

This is a story to show the great benefit of the watermelon. About 4 mos. ago before going raw, I got stung by a scorpion (I live in Arizona). Was out for 24 hours, hand the runs for 4 days, had was numb for 2 weeks. Just last week I got stung again! Well, all I had that day and next morning was half of a huge watermelon. Just blend it up and drank the juice. Also had some mango. Did not get sick, did not have the runs, had was numb for a day and was fine the next. I remember thinking when I got stunged this time that I needed watermelon juice to flush out the toxins. Don't know where I got that in my head, but it worked!!! The moral of the story..........eat more watermelon;)
