View Full Version : Jumping June Exercise Challenge
Ok summer will be here officially this month! This means swimsuits, shorts, t-shirts etc. We all want to look good don't we! And it is never to late to start on the journey to look better! So with this being said who is with me for June for committing to get regular exercise in. You can define your own goals but the key is to get it off the couch and get your body moving! This could mean, walking, running, biking, aerobic exercise, rebounding, swimming, rollerblading, yoga, weight training, etc., - anything that is physical and within your means to do. Now this thread is pretty easy - Define your goals and report back to us as a group when and what you do for the week. It could be daily or just whenever you exercise. It depends on your goals.
My goals are to up my exercise goals from at least 3 days to 4 or 5 days a week.
So who is with me for June! I am giving you a few days to think about it. Come on No more excuses - Do this for yourself! You know you will feel better when you do!:)

I know what you mean I am trying to find a bathing suit right now myself. There is nothing more humbling than shopping for a bathing suit. I haven't purchased one yet cause I haven't found one that looks decent on me.:(
Jeannieh99 - Good for you. Those are really good tangible realistic goals. In now time at all I think you will be off those meds. I was almost the weight you are now when I joined the exercise challenge thread last October. Slowly but surely the weight is coming off. It just takes time. We didn't put it on overnight and it will take time to take it off.
Water aerobics sounds like fun! I also like your parking/stair idea. I think we sometimes forget about these practical things in our fast paced society that we can still do even if we can't find an extra 1/2 hour to exercise during the day. Good suggestions!:D
SchoolofRAwk, AlifeGift, jeannieh99, Beanmonkee & Morn - Yeah for all of US! Let June be the month we make some ground!

I am from Denmark
I have been raw for 15 days now. And every summer I wish that I would loose the extra weight and work out more, so I could dare to go to the beach in a bikini. Well, I have never felt more better than now that I have gone raw, and I am very optimistic. My goal is to work out 4 times a week. At my work I can use the small gym for free :) I have done it 3 times this week, since the fourth day I was out of town. Next week I am out of town again for two of those days, but then I will just make sure to walk a lot :D
Please count me in !!!!
I still need to loose about 10 pounds... I have until end of july, where I am going to US to visit a good friend ... :D;)
Btw. the weather here is not hot ! Here summer comes late, so we have chilly and windy weather right now...

The type of workout that I do really seperate men from the boys. What you see in my picture is two 52 pounder kettlebells that I am racking. After a layoff from my training injury, it would about time to get back in the workout game.

I'm in too, thankfully daily exercise is one of my most favorite things to do, now if I can get on track with staying 100% raw for an entire month too!
I go to the health club almost everyday, and have cardio equipment at home including a treadmill, elliptical, exercise bike, stair climber, and rowing machine. Also free weights. So no excuses for me! Ha!
My goal is a minimum of 1 hour a day of cardio but I prefer 2 hours, mix in stretching, yoga a few times a week, strength training (classes and on my own) and I hope by the end of the month to see some additional firmness to this body and more tone to the tummy! At almost 50 years old that might be a tall order, but nothing is impossible!

- Increase my gym participation by a day or an extra hour per night.

I know what you mean about time getting away from you and feeling fab and strong and then frumpy to weak. I think a lot of it is in the head but I know I really do feel better on the days that I exercise. I am more relaxed, can sleep better and I feel more toned up. Will look forward to hearing your goals!

Happy Friday All!
I am going to post my specifics later tonight. Today, I focus on the upper body.
I have also made a goal for myself - I will exercise every single day this month (except Sundays) and on those days that I know I am pressed for time and will not be able to do my scheduled workout I will refer to my portfolio.
I have a collection of exercise articles and inspirational fitness stories that I put together in a binder. They're from magazines and the internet. Here is one that offers 20 minute full body workouts:
http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art30859.asp
Sometimes, I want some variety; want to do something more challenging, or can't do things outside due to the weather. My biggest challenge is time; a lot of times I will run out of time and have to cut my workout short of skip it; but my goal is not to skip no matter what. I just refer to something in my exercise portfolio....
Check in later.......

just wanted to add another article.... I don't have time to do my planned upper body workout and so I will try this upper body workout that I got out off the internet (in my portfolio):
http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art28998.asp
I hope you guys don't mind me posting these articles. Those "8 count body builders" will be a fun challenge. About to do them now....
Ok I wasn't going to mention it but I didn't want you guys to worry about me. I know I was a little vague in my blog yesterday about what was ailing me. But I didn't want anyone to think my health condition had anything to do with my eating raw. So here it is. Today I went to a specialist to get my hemorrhoid removed. I begged them to get an appointment since I was still in a lot of pain today and couldn’t sit or exercise. So they did an emergency appointment and got me in. Thank God! So now I am in pain from the laser surgery and hopefully it will feel better and heal well over the next week. I am not going to push myself with the exercise. I will just have to take it a little easy over the next few days. Oh and another thing I forgot was I officially hit a new low today and am down to 160 which is officially at the 70 pound weight loss mark. Yeah for RAW! Oh and my husband finally updated my website and posted my 8 month raw pictures.

glad to hear that all is well with your health...........and again, congratulations on your newest weight loss success:)
we had some bad news in the family today which altered my workout plan(my sister and law and twin brother lost the baby-had just found out they were pregnant a few weeks ago after and had been trying since they married in '03... but I know that God is going to bless them yet);
but thank goodness i have this portfolio to help keep me accountable
Lavender J - thanks for the encouragement.
Take care of your brother and sister in law - that is whats most important at this time. Exercising will always be there for you to do later.

Ok, Morn, you talked me into it. I posted her a couple of months ago, just got to lazy to post my exercise, as I felt it was insignificant in comparison to others -- I know -- dumb!
Anyway, I'm back, still doing mini trampoline every morning for 20 minutes, then crunch ball workout every other day. I'd love to add more and may soon. In my head, I wanna do more. But, my self gets in the way and it does not happen.
After reading all this thread, I am surprised to not see a post from nfrunner, is she okay? Or just disapperared like me?
As mentioned earlier, for each day of exercise I get a red heart on my calender. And if I do two kinds of exercise, I get two red hearts. It makes quite a colorful calender, especially since I'm now adding colorful smiley faces for doing 100% raw. Thinking of adding something green for a green smoothie. ???
Until tomorrow. . .
Bdraw - Yeah thanks to you I have started rebounding too. I had never heard of it before you! Didn't know there were so many health benefits with rebounding.
NFRawrunner ran into a conflict between her health and wanting to try new things in her diet that conflicted with the raw diet so I think after some debates with I don't know who she was deleted from RFT. If you look her up the last I saw she was a guest - no longer a member. Her daughter emailed me and was very upset. NFrawrunner also asked if I could continue this thread and nurture it since she had to leave. I was so bummed out. Now I tried to figure out what happened myself but the posts got deleted. As you know she was struggling with a hosts of health issues and was very faithful to raw for a long time. I miss her. She is really the spirit behind this thread! We all need to make her proud!

Okay so I just finished the routine I posted above. I did two complete circuits and I decided to time myself. I'm timing myself because with the transition into raw I have lost most of my muscle.. which I believe is to be expected as it seems that the old muscle was broken down (even with all the strength training, when I first started raw I was strength training 6 days per week) and now my body is rebuilding with a healthier leaner muscle I think. So needless to say, lately, I've become a weakling.. So my goal is rebuild the muscle and my strength. So anyway, I timed myself and this routine took me exactly 30:58 according to my stopwatch. I think that this particular routine should have taken about half of this time to complete 2 circuits. I decided to try to use this routine the rest of the month and if I need to do extra stuff (like the chest presses) I will. I going back to the 5lb weights for the next 10 days...it's so strange, it seems like I'm going backwards but my body must be transitioning with the weight and muscle loss; I've turned into a weakling... when I do those 8 count thingies on the link, I feel like I'm moving in slow motion

Sorry to hear about NFrawrunner. I think I may still have her e-mail address, I'll try to contact. Can't imagine anything bad enough to delete her.
Everyone -- keep up the good work.

Okay I'm posting the results... I finished the lower body blast with a time of 11:58 according to the stop watch... I used my weighted bar (18lb)instead of the dumbells that are shown in the link... oh I did use the dumbbells for the lunges with the ball. I did two circuits. I think I am going to make some changes. I will do 3 circuits instead because they were fairly easy and I will eliminate the one-legged deadlift. I also did this with 10 reps. I will move on up to the 16 reps on Thursday and see if this makes a difference. I think in place of the one-legged dead lifts I will insert some walking lunges with the dumbells

Does this mean I'm officially welcomed into the group/thread? We just got back from TKD a few minutes ago. I nearly puked! I think maybe I got overheated or something. I felt "green" and the instructor said he was surprised I made it the whole class, cause apparently I looked it. But I drank tons of water after my cardio, so I don't know what was going on. I drank lots of water when we were done and I feel fine now. Two really good sweats worked up in one day! Not too shabby if I do say so myself.
Now I'm about to down some fresh squeezed oj!
Have a great one!
Welcome Shine 72 - YES, YES, YES! IT IS SO NICE TO SEE A FAMILAR FACE AND GETTING FIT together. I keep seeing your progress on the weighins and You are doing awesome! Sorry you weren't feeling so good today - but way to push yourself and stick it out. Just be careful to listen to your body - sometimes these things backfire and then we can't exercise at all! I know a girl at work this happened too and then she was out a whole month not being able to exercise at all because of her hip. But WELCOME! Just post when you work out and what you do and the time you worked out.

LavendarJ - I hope you're feeling better!
Okay, so I did a few minutes on the fitness trampoline and then did my BFL lower body workout. I was at a slight disadvantage as my gluteus maximus was already sore from the cardio and then TKD yesterday. But that's okay, I got it done and am VERY happy with my workout. Found out I underestimated calves, need to add more to them next week, and that all the crunches we've been doing at TKD have REALLY paid off in the ab area. I knocked them out like they were nothing today! Cool!
So today was 0500:
Warm up on the trampoline
Quads - two different kinds of squats
Hamstrings - Straight-Leg Dead Lifts and Walking Lunges
Calves - Two different heel raises
Abs - Crunches and Obliques
Hope everyone has a GREAT workout today!:D

I hear you Shine... we have to listen to our bodies.... I never got a chance to report my time from the upper body workout yesterday because I didn't get to work out.... I was really disappointed... but oh well, more important duties called yesterday and I didn't back in the house until 10 p.m.
The issue with my twin and his wife (losing he baby) has really got him down; I had to take my sis-in-law to the hospital for the D & C procedure and he is really down--I guess it sort of "finalizes" everything. I can feel his energy and it bothers me that I can't help him more....it makes me not want to move... but I am going to move..
Whoops.... this is not the area for this so I'll be quiet now... back to exercise... I am going to run some errands and then commit myself to the doing the lower body stuff at around 3 today. I hope so.

I'm just sitting here trying to get motivated but I feel so low today....I feel kind of bad because I know I didn't personally suffer the loss of this and so why am I sitting here .... gotta push myself today... I can really see myself just doing a pigout... these feeling have brought back memories of past coping habits... stomach is still out of whack from those darn almonds and i'm bloated... i can look at my body and just tell that i've gained weight and I am hardly eating... I know it's partly due to being bloated and stress (thinking about my brother and sis)

I just wanted to ask a favor...if you can find that link to the running program can you please post it..As you can probably tell, I love keeping a collection of exercise articles...I am working on a starting up a womens' group in the area and health of course, is going to be one the main focuses and I want to have copies of articles and exercise tips available for those who are not blessed with the opportunity or time to have a gym membership.

ThnkYouJesus-
thanks for posting the link
Had to work today and stopped at the gym on the way home from work. They measured my Body Fat percentage and I was at 37% body fat and on the high end of the overweight category and almost tipping into the obsese category. Very depressing! I lost 70 pounds and I am still in the overweight/obese category. Wow! When I got home my husband looked up height and weight scales as BMI. If I lose another 6 pounds I will be within a normal BMI category so that at least gives me a little hope.
Today’s workout: 1 ˝ hours
30 minutes stairmaster
30 minutes treadmill (10 minutes walking 20 minutes running)
Seated leg press 100 reps at 110 pounds
Chest presses 50 reps at 50 pounds
Inner thighs 50 reps at 100 pounds
Outer thights 50 reps at 90 pounds
Abdominal floor work
Buns floor work

Good Morning...
Wow.. ThnkYouJesus....You were right; that article provides all kinds of info.... I'm feeling so bloated right now but I'm going to tackle this upper body workout and ab work anyway.....it looks like it's going to rain:eek: .. there is a short hallway in the house that I sometime run back and forth in.. I may do that and incorporate some other exercises like jumping jacks and power jumps or something....

Good Morning Everyone!
Lavendar - I'm glad you liked the link...I really liked it too. :)
Morn - You truly are an inspiration...thank you for starting this thread :)
Well yesterday didn't go so well excercise-wise...I think I may still be in detox mode, because I am EXHAUSTED when I get home. It's kind of frustrating because I have these grandiose plans during the day that I am excited about, but then don't get to bring them to fruition. (sigh)
I decided this morning, though, that I will focus on being patient with myself and really listen to my body.
Well...I wish everyone a Happy...Healthy...and RAW Friday!!!
Liserpiece
06-08-2007, 11:32 AM
I'm a little late to join, ugh! But better late than never! I've been raw for a little over three weeks and I just got through detoxing, for the most part... I hope! I was pretty weak and ran a fever, so I took it easy. But now I feel much better and would like to start moving! I've written in another thread that I was thin before going raw and now my skin is hanging off me. I lost about ten pounds of "false body", so I look mighy rough! I feeling so much better and now I want to rebuild my new, healthy self!
My Goal:
Jazzercise 4X per week, Mon, Teus, Wed, Thurs. This includes weights, toning excercises, aerobic exercises.
30 minute walk on Friday (With 2 little girls in the stoller getting really heavy going up the hills!!!)
Thanks for the thread, I need the motivation!!!

Does anyone eat anything in particular before their exercise routine? I would be curious to hear what you all eat to help boost the energy before hand.
Have a great day and I will be sweating up those hills!

For me, if it's solid foods, I need to have eaten about an hour or two before working out; but if it's juices. I can drink some juice right before and still work out okay... otherwise, I feel weighted down... though with raw it isn't as extreme.. before when I ate whatever I wanted in my SAD eating days, I would need at least 3-4 after eating before I could workout... If I tried to workout after eating something like fries and a sandwich, I would get sick and feel like I was going to vomit
Today's Exercise:
Rebounding 25+ minutes
Abs of steel 12 minutes
WELCOME Liserpiece! Your right is is better late than never! Your body will adjust over time especially with the strength training as LavenderJ said. Sometimes I exercise on an empty stomach if it is early in the day but if at the end of my day I like to have something a little more substantial in me a few hours before or a handful of nuts right before and it gives me all I need.
Marie - Yeah sometimes we need to listen to our bodies and just rest. My biggest problem right now is finding the time to squeeze the exercise into my day. My husband said today that I thought you like exercising I said I do its just I feel so stressed for time and I have so many demands on my schedule.
Liserpiece
06-09-2007, 11:09 AM
AHHHH! I feel the "no time for exercise" too! I have 3 children, 13yrs,(homeschooled) 3yrs and 1.5yrs and my husband puts in 12 hour days, thank you US Army!! I know in the past this has been my excuse for not doing anything. So many evenings, when I could go to class I think, "Boy, I'd really just like to stay home, relax and spend time with my family" I so often feel selfish. My class starts at 5:45, so I get dinner ready before I go, make sure all is in order so my husband isn't "inconvienienced" by my leaving. I laugh at myself for feeling guilty, for Pete's Sake, I'm just taking an hour and a half out of the day for me. It really is silly, but at times, like yesterday *UGH* those feelings of guilt win! I KNOW that I feel sooooo much better when I take this time, the break I get provides me with a renewed energy I need. So really I'm a better Mom and sometimes a nicer wife  when I go. It's just so dang easy to talk myself out of it!
Hope every one is having a great weekend!
Elissa
Todays exercise:
25+ minutes of rebounding
10 minutes of abs of steel
Liserpiece - I know what you mean about the guilt thing that is why I do most of my exercising at home.

I still haven't started my running routine yet...I was planning to run with my 15 year old daughter...but she hurt herself quadding yesterday :(
I'm still going to do it though. I did, however, get a workout from quadding...oddly enough. My upper body hurts hurts hurts! I think from trying to steer the quad.

It's amazing how kids can just run and run... :) We all came in and made a huge salad, spent our evening eating and laughing, it was an awesome day!
Not sure what I'm going to do today, but tomorrow it's back to Jazzercise!

Okay so, I am going to be doing the same
upperbody work
ab work

just finished the upper body work.. it was a sluggish go at it but i finished it; since i'm timing myself throughout the month i should post it here also; my time was 20:40 which doesn't surprise me-- (did two circuits of 15 reps for each)
on to ab work....

Oh MY GOODNESS!!! I just followed your link, Morn! WOW! I am blown away! I got goosebumps looking at your transformation and your journal entries! YOU ARE TRUELY INSPIRING!
Today I start my second month Raw! YEA! I'm still a little tired, even after sleeping 9 hours last night... but I'm looking forward to my hour of Jazzercise tonight! I talked about the whole guilt thing with my husband yesterday and he was very supportive. He encouraged my to stop worring so much, that he liked being "in charge" when I was out for that hour, said it made him feel like he was participating. He said with him being gone so much of the day, he feels a little out of the loop. So... NO MORE WORRING! (And no more excuses!) :o
Monday, 6/11- 1 hour Jazzercise circut training (weights, toning, aerobic and stretching)
Have a great Monday everyone!

Finally finished the ab workout for today...according to the link, this is a 15 minute ab routine... i don't know if that's two circuits of it in 15 minutes or not.....but I only did 1 and I had to stop the exercise with my stability ball short; only did about 3 reps instead of the 10:eek: ... my energy levels are a bit sluggish... so anyway, I finished everything else with a time of 10:15..
Liserpiece- I think that's GREAT that hubby is so supportive..so go ahead and enoy that workout:)

Liserpiece - Wow that is so sweet of the hubby! My husband told me the other day that when he came in from cutting the grass and I was rebounding he had to tell himself not to get mad since part of my job is looking beautiful and I was taking the time out of my schedule to exercise and work on that. So now we both have our husband's buyin. But it does directly benefit them too!:)

Morn- HA! "Looking beautiful" is our job!! I soooo agree, although it may sound a bit old fashioned. It is a challenge, the whole "given birth 3 times body" (where did all that extra skin around my middle come from and will it ever go away?), splattered shirt (exciting lunch), crazy hair (my youngest likes to "comb" it), neglected face (make-up, what is that?), furrowed brow (a face for quieting ugly temper tantrums) and distracted mind (what are they doing in the living room with those colored pencils?) makes this job a full timer! I have the exta bonus of being 12 years older than my husband. So I fell obligated to look good, okay, truth be told... young for as long as I can. :o ! THANK YOU RAW! :D
Jazzercise was great last night, so much energy! I look forward to it tonight!

Hey Lavendar,
Sounds really nice, a walk with the family! Have fun and breath some nice fresh air for me!
Jazzercise is both cardio and strength training along with some nice yoga postures for stretching. I love it! It's all women (for the most part, although men accasionally attempt it :D ) and we are all different shapes, sizes and ability levels. The instructors are great at demonstrating different levels. It's all set to fun, upbeat music. I've been doing it for about 10 years and it's the only exercise routine I return to and really enjoy... even look forward to!
Have a great time on your outting!

It is funny because I was surprised at how out of breath I was in the beginning of my swim. But 1/2 way threw it seemed to get easier. It truely is a great way to exercise but I just need the time to do it. It was also nice because I had the pool all to myself as my girls are with their grandma and my DH is at the movies. dreamrawalwz you are a tree! Congratulations! Also walking 4 miles a day Wow! Are you walking to work or something?
Nope! I walk 3 miles in 40 minutes before school or work and then when I get home (around 8) I walk 1 more mile. Haha, if I walked to work it would take me a day ;). It takes me 30 min. to drive there.
Stretching isn't consistant yet :( I was SOOO flexible in my past from gymnastics, now my MOM is more flexible in some areas than I am. Thats sad!!
Welcome Melissa72! Good for you for doing something postive for you to change your life! I am glad you are with us!
dreamrawalwz - I know what you mean about the flexibility. I too used to be in gymnastics (years ago) but for several years afterward I remained pretty flexible. And then I went into Karate and regained a lot of flexibility. Now that I don't stretch on a consistent basis I am losing a lot again which is a bummer. I need to include this into my exercise time.
Misslinda - I haven't seen it yet I will have to go and take a peek.

UGH! I did soooo little this weekend! It didn't go as planned on Friday evening. I spent the whole night on the phone whith my hysterical daughter... she couldn't get into the Weird Al concert and at 13, this is devestating! Yesterday was my "first date with my husband" anniversary, so we had a nice day. Today, however, there may be hope for exercise. For Father's day, my husband wants to go on a family bike ride. :)
Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

MissLinda- For our date we went to see Fantastic 4, not the greatest, but fun! The next day was awesome though! With all 3 girls in tow for our bike ride, Q literally pulls the little girls in a trailer, I'm not sure how romantic it was! :D BUT! The girls made him a t-shirt for Father's Day. They used fabric paint and made their hand prints all over it. It is a bright, happy explosion! When Q opened it up he was thrilled and put it on. When we were out at the store, the check out lady commented and he told her with a big grin, "It's my Dad Shirt, my girls made it for me". I do believe a proud, happy Dad is quiet romantic!!!
Off to Jazzecise tonight!!

Yikes- it's getting close to 7:30 p.m. here and I haven't got a chance to walk... I really wanted to walk.. I'm going to try to make this happen somehow...just been ripping and running all day it seems...

Okay, Okay, I did not get my lower body workout in...I'm noticing a familiar pattern developing...so I'm putting an end to it...It seems that whenever I get busy ripping and running and doing other things for other people I just don't get the workout completed in the evening. 10:30 came along and then another hour...I thought 'I can still do it; I'll just throw on some billy blanks'..next thing you know I woke up and it was 12:40 a.m.:D
So, now I missed my lower body stuff and so I'm going to improvise a bit with my workout. I've got to take my nieces and nephew to summer school and then after that I'm going to come home and make myself do my working out before cleaning or prepping whatever my soup of the day will be- before anything...
I'll be back to post what I came up with to do since I missed out on some good lower body work yesterday...

Jazz was great last night... really worked hard, but felt good. Our instructor was this tiny little thing, at (maybe) 80 lbs, it must be easy to jump like a jumping bean! :D
Lavendar- I can identify... Life has a way of rearranging your tasks for the day! I think that sometimes the biggest challenge is fitting those seemingly "Oh, I can wait on that" things into my routine. Soooo often it feels like there are more important things to take care of. :)
MissLilly- How long and what type of fast are you doing for summer soltice?
Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Okay...back again...
So I'm about to do my upper body stuff in just a second and I'm also going to do the ab work...later, I would like to walk...no later, I am going to walk -even if it's just 30 minutes...the weather is milder together (the humidity is not beating us up yet)...
Liserpiece-
Now that's the best feeling to me...a good workout and sometimes, I miss the environment of a group..your surrounded by people who are there for one reason - to work it out....In the fall, I hope to be able to do some workout classes. I'll be continuing education and I will have access to the gym (included in tuition).
So anyway...I guess I better get to it
Today’s exercise: 53 minutes
25 minutes of rebounding
28 minutes of thighs of steel & stretching – focusing on inner/outer thighs & buns

Hi ladies - I'm new to this board, but could I join you?
I have tons of workout videos and am currently doing p90x. I am working my way toward a vegan/raw diet but am not there yet.
Here's what I ate yesterday:
Bfast - Hemp protein shake (almond milk, cocoa powder, hemp protein powder, banana)
Snack - raisens and raw sunflower seeds
Lunch - Chipotle (lettuce, black beans, mild salsa, guacamole)
Snack - Apple, Carrots
Dinner - 2 veggie burger patties (no bread), carros, red peppers
Snack - Protein bar (SHAME!) Think Thin brand - sold by Whole foods, might be vegan, but certainly not raw.
I also have a terrible Diet Coke attachment that I'm trying to shake. Otherwise I drink a lot of green tea and water.
I'm 5'9" and weigh 152. I'd like to get to the 140's and build muscle so I'm a little concerned about how to best do that with a raw/vegan diet. I have The Thrive Diet and am reading it and will try some of his recipes.
Any advice, comments would be appreciated!

Hi there Cindi1-
Nice to meet you!
Give yourself lots of hugs and keep doing what you said you were doing - working on it. I think that if you don't have Alissa's book yet, it is a great source of info and inspiration. Take your time and remember this is your journey; you define it and just be aware of why you are doing it.
By the way, what is p09x? - just curious:)
As for me, I'm doing my usual-
Lower body strength training
Ab work
Walking outside on trail with sister
Stopped at the gym tonight on the way home from work and worked out for an hour!
cardio kickboxing – 35 minutes
floor work – abdominals, inner thighs & buns
Leg presses – 100 at 90 pounds
Chest presses – 50 at 50 pounds
Cindi1 - Welcome to our group! We would love the company!
If you ever get the chance you should check out Frutiarians blog. He is extremely buff and eats only Fruit. So I think you will be ok trying to build muscle but eating vegan and raw!

Yes Morn,
You are right, frutarian does look nice; by the way, how long have you been doing the leg presses in reps of 100 at 90 pounds and have you noticed any changes

Thanks for the welcome ladies!
I do have Alissa's book and a few other raw books. I also took raw foods class about 2 years ago and that was helpful. I'll check out Frutarian too. The hemp protein shakes really help (IMHO).
P90X is a set of exercise videos that incorporate weight training and cardio. Here's a link: http://www.beachbody.com/jump.jsp?itemType=GATEWAY&itemID=63
Last night I did Back and Biceps - about an hour of working back and biceps. Also did 15 minutes of ab work.
I also do a lot of FIRM workouts (I have a good sized video collection) and practice two styles of martial arts.
So as you can imagine having strength and energy are really important!

Thanks for posting the thread Cindi1-
I'm wishing everyone a Fantastic Friday today...
It's all about the upper body and doing some ab work today. I'm changing my routine though...I've been experimenting with different types of workouts. I need something that's going to really push me and motivate me... I am thinking that what I will do is going back to something I used to do a long time ago (when still eating standard american diet)- I'm going back to a total body workout on strength training for 3 days per week versus alternating 6 days per week with upper and lower body... I remember a trainer recommended this for my body type and so I'm going to see what happens. I this way I will be able to be reestablish some consistency with pilates and yoga again. We'll see!
Yes Morn,
You are right, frutarian does look nice; by the way, how long have you been doing the leg presses in reps of 100 at 90 pounds and have you noticed any changes
I have been doing them for at least a few months (only once a week although I should be doing weights more for getting real results) The personal trainer at my club said to really improve in the body fat percentage thingy that I should be doing weight training at least 3 times a week. I am having a hard enough time to even squeeze in the exercise that I do let alone more. Plus I like to mix things up. I get bored doing the same old stuff over and over again.
Anyway I usually do 110 pounds but I was a little tired after the kickboxing class so I decided to go a little easier on myself. Oh and as far a changes I don't really know because I just look at myself and My legs just still look fat. I am trying to get rid of the cellulite on the back of my legs and it is still there. I have always had pretty good lower body strenth. It is my upper body that I am really whimpy on.
Exercise: Approximately 1 hour & 100 laps in my 40 foot pool under the stars! Was awesome and then came out and sat by a fire! A fabulous night!
Cindi1 - what martial arts styles do you practice? I too used to be in Karate a few years back before my 2nd daughter was born. I am thinking about possibly getting back into it. I have lost a lot of flexibility and strength since quitting Karate.
Oh I I love the firm workout videos. I have some of there workouts too. THey are challenging!
Ok here is the scoop for today. Beautiful day outside so I decided to go for a bike ride. I did about a 40 minute bike ride. I am very sore for the last couple of days of exercise and needed something easier on my muscles.:) I still may do some more laps in the pool later.

Getting geared up for the July challenge and working on ways to achieve better time management when it comes to my workouts. I am going back to doing a total body strength training 3 days per week vs. what I've been doing this month (upper/lower body strength training alternating days for 6 days per week)
Ending the week of June -I cannot believe that we are at the half-way point for 2007- with my modified routine. I think this one will help me to incorporate and maintain pilates and other things I want to do but am not doing consistently at the moment:
Total Body Workout M-W-F:
http://exercise.about.com/library/blbeginnerstrength3.htm
Ab work (starting to see some results with these- I think):
http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art6530.asp
T-TH Cardio:
(I decided to give myself choices so that I don't get so disappointed when my planned workouts don't happen)
Choice A - 1 hour kickboxing
Choice B - 1 hour tae bo fat burn/boot camp
Choice C - Wing it (maybe some intervals of walking lunges/jumping rope)
Pilates for abs & legs and thighs
Saturday:
free choice day, maybe something fun like a mini hike, bike ride (if I get another bike -stolen) skating
So this the new modified routine for the rest of this week and for July. I hope to one day not have to rely on weights and just use my body for resistance training...this will help me for the days that I am on the go

Hi! I got the new FIRm workouts on Friday and ended up trying them all out this weekend - except for the core workouts. I really enjoyed them all!
I practice Kung Fu (norther Shaolin style) and have been for about 3.5 years. I also practice Tae Kwon Do which I started about 7 months ago.
My husband and children also practice both styles.

Cindi-
those Firm workouts are good
Lavender J - wow your workouts look really good. I need to incorporate some of those abs in my ab routines. That is so cool you found websites on the internet with graphics that move. Too cool! With doing those routines you should be looking extra fine in no time!;) Hey would you think about being our team leader for July and opening that thread. You are way more qualified and knowledgeable than me. Plus I think you have the gift of encouragement!
Cindi1 - you did all the workouts over the weekend - wow you are ambitious!
Those firm workouts can be hard!

Aw Morn what a nice thing to say about someone like me...I don't think I have your exercise stamina but I'll do my best. Thanks:) I'm determined to whip this body into shape one way or another....losing 80+ pounds has shifted things around and so I've got to stay on top of this cardio and strength training because I don't have the money or the guts for plastic surgery:D (some of my friends were teasing me about getting a breast job because the "girls" have disappeared-among other things).
For cardio day today, I'm doing my "wing it" option - I think I'll just alternate between jumping jacks, walking lunges, and kick boxing moves. I am going to throw in a little pilates and call it a night.

Hi Ladies - last night I did a Christi Taylor video and tonight was Kung Fu class.
I think I'm maintaining about 80% raw these days and feeling really good. I noticed the whites of my eyes are brighter - which happens everytime I up my raw food intake.
Breakfast was a hemp protein smoothie
Snacks were raw trail mix, apple, carrots
Lunch was a big salad (some chicken on it - sorry about that!)
Dinner was sprouted bread with almond butter and honey
Today's Exercise:
25 minutes of rebounding
10 minutes abs of steel
Hey Cindi1 - don't apologize for your menu. WE are all on different paths and journeys. If you are comfortable with being at 80% raw than good for you. I think the goal of this website is to promote eating healthier and more raw food. But there are many on here that are not 100%. I strive to be but I don't ever think I will attain that status and I am ok with that cause I know I am eating 99% healthier and differently than I used to. But I still consider myself a raw foodist even though I stumble occasionally.

Thanks, Morn.
Just finished P90X Chest and Back and did two segments of Alison's new Core workout from the FIRM - it was good and tough!
Eating was good today. 80% and holding steady.
I haven't felt any dip in my energy - quite the opposite! I think the hemp protein shakes give me a great boost in the morning.

It has been raining hard the past three days... it looks as if we are in for a break..if so, I'm exercising outdoors...a nice brisk walk.
lavendarJ
06-28-2007, 08:22 PM
Okay so the walk isn't going to happen due to the weather...I think I'm going to do some standing and walking lunges and jump rope a little. I will do my ab work and some pilates. Off to go out to dinner with a friend (taking a salad) and then will return home and do these..it will be late and so I'll settle for 40 minutes if I can't get an hour in tonight.
Exercise: 1 ˝ hours
1 hour of cardio kickboxing
Abdominal and buns floor work
50 Chestpresses at 50 pounds
100 leg presses at 110 pounds
