What does everyone think about raw unsalted non roasted Sunflower seeds. I am looking for a inexpensive high calorie snack. They seem to fit what I am looking for with calories, protein, & fat. Or is to much of these things not good. Are there drawbacks to them, I have not seem much discussed about the seeds.

I have lost 20 pds since going back to raw(6months). I was 180, now 160. I am 6'1, so i need to start eating food that have more calories. I would like to get back to 175 on raw.

Thanks for the input.

Also you can soak them and then sprout them and they are even better for you. Another way to make a great snack is to soak them in your favorite marinade and then dehydrate them. My sweetie can't get enough of them.

You REALLY do want to sprout them first.
The enzyme inhibitors make it very hard on you otherwise.

I do not think that you need to sprout them fully. Just soak them for a few hours

I just sprinkle them on my salads, they add a yummy nutty crunch. I love them! I also love raw sesame seeds, flax and pumpkin seeds for variety.

They are wonderful sprouted and then ground in the food processor with parsley, lemon juice, basil, or any other herbs you have around. Then eat with lettuce leaves. Very tasty!
