Hi all,

If you experience inflammation in the form of R.A or O. A. I would like to know if you still make nightshades a part of the raw foods you eat? I am particularly curious about the pepper and tomato family. Has anyone stopped eating all nightshades and found relief? Has anyone stopped eating a particular nightshade food and found relief? Is anyone still eating (raw) these foods and still getting relief? Has anyone not noticed anything?

Also, people that have done a MC that are intimate with R.A/O.A. what did you experience physiologically if and when you included the cayenne in your lemonade? Please, share your experiences. I'm sorry also if this has been discussed previously as I haven't done a search.

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi! I have never been diagnoised with RA, but definately had sore finger joints, wrist joints and hip joint on my right side before raw. Raw really helped, then decided to cut out night shades ---- yes, it helped! But, I really love fresh garden grown tomatoes and couldn't resist them one year, as you know, I still must grow them, cause what is a garden with out fresh tomatoes -- within 20 minutes my wrist hurt! And it had not hurt for months. Yes, I still eat occasional night shades, and yes, I pay the price for it. . . in minutes or the next day.

Hope this helps!

Yes, thanks BDraw. I really miss tomatos. Nothing like a nice salsa with some raw chips. I do feel that tomatos are one of the culprits among other things. I haven't been "diagnosed" either though I do know my joints get swollen and this runs in my family.

I have osteoarthritis in my shoulders, hands, wrists, knees, and hips. Pre-raw, I often had to get cortisone shots to help relieve a frozen joint/pain and could not sleep throughout the night without getting up several times to reposition myself.

The difference now, since going raw (without any restrictions), is like night and day - just put up over 200 feet of 6 foot frontier fencing (and painted it, both sides) with dh! What's more, I am sleeping like a baby - one minute my head is hitting the pillow, and the next, it's morning!! ~ Cathy

Cathy, that's so wonderful. I'm very happy for you. I know how debilitating OA can be. Thanks for the feedback.
