so i just have to confess my major slippage action, that happened and is still happening this weekend...
well...after a full 3 months of being 100% raw, more or less (controvercial items like wild rice and cacao included)...i slipped big time...
yesterday, after a normal day of raw food, i came home after work and saw this chocolate on the shelf (i live with non-rawists :) i didn't pay much mind to it, just ate my usual salad, but then just couldn't get that chocolate out of my head...so i went downstairs and made the concious decision to eat it...so i did..hahaha...well...that was the beginning...then i thought it was an excellent idea to order pizza...so i did...my roomates thought i was going insane, but didn't argue with me as they were getting pizza...i ate so much pizza...oh my god...i thought i was gonna die...i even told my roomates "guys if i get really sick and pass out, don't bring me to the hospital...drugs is where i draw the line" hahaha....but seriously, my stomach felt like a rock and still does today...because....i just ate everything i wanted today at work (i work part-time at this little cafe) i had cheesecake, chocolate cake, cheese n' crackers, samosas, oreos, banana bread, Bailey's and even a cigarette (after 3 months of not smoking) that cigarette was really bad though...i didn't smoke all of it...my roomates just asked me if i wanted to order chinese and sure thing i did...oh well...i feel like shit already...might as well go all out...tomorrow i will start another 3 months of 100% raw...so it's all good...i'm not too upset...my only worry is "oh my god...i have to dance tomorrow morning...i feel so fat right now...no way i'm gonna get into a leotard by morning...ughhh :P i'm probably gonna be sick tonight...oh god help me...
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhh :o

Amethyst,
Don't beat yourself up
Don't dwell on it too heavily if at all
Learn from the experience
Dust off and keep going!
We've all been there/done that and it happens...just do what you need to do to get back to where you want/need to be!
Peace and Blessings,
Cherie

Hello Amethyst_Rain
I know how you feel. I cant resist chocolate and that's why it's not allowed in my house. It would drive me insane! I made a few raw treats with carob in them to help me with my wild thoughts about chocolate. So far I havent slipped off the wagon but I've only been raw for 6 week now! Who can say what I will do after 90 days. You've done really well for yourself being raw for 90 days; you'll be back there in no time.
Best of luck
Dennis

I don't sweat the slip-ups I've had bc it's all part of the process. Like when you quit smoking, sometimes you have to quit several times before you finally quit for good. . . it's all good, we learn more each time, three steps forward two steps back.
Here's hoping your body bounces back relatively quickly.

(sorry) why does the bad stuff have to be so addictive? hughhhhhhh...oh well...i know i can do it..so here i go :) thanx again to everyone for posting :)

amethyst: I slipped last week and ate sushi. . . had awful indigestion for 3 days and headaches. When it was over, I was so thankful for the lesson that my body was teaching me. Better to have that lesson now rather than later in the form of some awful disease. The few minutes of pleasure I had eating was so not worth it compared to the ensuing disruption of bodily discomfort.

And since I am NOT ALLOWED to go down the street for ANYTHING this week (I'm counting on you guys, I'm gonna come post every time I want to and, dagnabit, someone best talk me out of it!), I should be golden.

I did the same thing this last week, and am still feeling terrible because of it.
But we are raw foodists who ate some cooked food.
We are NOT cooked food eaters, trying to eat raw.
I hope this helps.
Love and brightest blessings

I went into the grocery store yesterday and on my way out you have to walk past the deli take out section where they have all this cooked food, it smelt so bad, it almost made me lose my smoothie I had for breakfast! Cooked meats and vegetables I dont miss, but junk food carbs I do!

I feel like all I did today was eat crap...got hit with a huge choc. craving..if it was in the house and choc. I ate it. I am determined that tomorrow will be better. I feel so much like crap now..I don't think I can even go to bed..so I will be sitting up tonight..just like when I used to eat all of that junk before.
I don't miss meat or anything like that. It's the junk..pastries, choc., veggie pizza..all the addictive carbs for my body. Wish you all luck tomorrow..as for me...I take some luck for myself.

It is 5 in the morning and I tried to lay down a little bit ago. Everything is still sitting like a lump in my stomach...I guess if you eat crap...you feel like crap. No matter how good it was at the time..I don't think it is worth the after effect. I hope anytime I reach for something bad..I remember how sick and tired I feel right now..and run the other direction.
I wish us all a great and RAW day!

I was sooooo tempted to eat junk crap day before yesterday, even though I realized that I didn't actually want that particular food, I just was wanting something familiar to eat again, something that seemed like "normal" food. I decided that what I wanted to dwell on was the idea of familiar food, that I didn't actually want to eat something that I knew would only make me feel horrible.
I picked up Alissa's book to look for a recipe, and it fell open to chapter 21, "Don't Indulge the Thought!" which was just exactly what I needed to read at that moment.
She makes an excellent point about your subconscious mind being unable to tell the difference between positives and negatives.
"I will not eat that chocolate cake."
"Chocolate cake is an unhealthy food for me."
"Chocolate cake will make me feel bad."
She's right that all you are doing is reinforcing your craving by thinking in ANY sense about that cake.
Get rid of thinking about specific foods by use of "feel good" statements.
"My body is healthy on raw food."
"Raw foodies eat raw food, and that's what I am!"
"I feel fantastic when I keep eating raw." etc.
Sure worked for me (well, after quite a while of chanting my "raw mantras" over and over ;) ), but the important thing is that it did work. Next morning, after a good night's sleep, I was back on track and loving my day-starter smoothie.

I love this Raw Priestess!
Ok I am here to let you know Amethyst Rain
that I just had a major slip up too--3 days of eating/binging on cooked
foods and wine and beer. Don't know what happened.
I feel so disgusted with myself and ill.
It wasn't even as good as I thought it would be, yet I still kept
on eating.... old habits, old triggers...
It's a process and we'll get past this ;)
I miss my raw foods and how light and good i feel afterwards.
Hope your feeling better!

Glad you are starting to feel better Amethyst Rain.
I gained 3lbs. and am bloated :o
Yes, bike riding weather is here! Sounds like you really enjoyed
the day. Well we don't get snow rarely
and it doesn't get that cold around here, but more sunshine
and warmer weather really does make for an uplifting day.
Smiles,
