Excuse the alliteration.
Hope this thread isn't premature, but something about getting a start on this thread 9 days before the start of the new month appealed to me.;)
I had every excuse this past month to throw me off track including a delay in the CSA Shares program I was due to participate in and a cycle of "nothing taste good!
Looking forward to June and all the juicy fruits of the earth:p
SO lets getting an early bird roll call going complete with health, personal, spiritual or whatever sort of goals you would like manifest during this time.

Count me in also!
My goal, like RawVegan4Health, is to be 100% for 30 days (with the exception of some herbal teas).
I also have the goal of gaining more muscle weight, lifting 3x/week and doing yoga 3-4 x/week, daily meditation for 20-30 min, and doing something each day to get me closer to my long-term dreams/career goals.
I am so excited! I plan on meditating starting at midnight on June 1st on the full moon- a perfect time to start.

I enjoyed my 30 day challenge last year, but failed in trying to be raw in UK hotels for business. I did not managed to make 100% this month, but it has been one hell of a month.
I am preparing for June 1st now and am excited to be part of this challenge. I have a business meeting in France... which will be hard to do 100% easily... cant carry much and have to follow others choices... but I think I have found someone to go by car... and take my food and equipment... Oh I think I will be 100% in June... fantastic.

I am so excited for June 1 to be here. I am going to camp outside that night, make a fire in my firepit, meditate and sleep under the full moon. I can't wait!! Only 8 more days!
Actually, I am seriously contemplating starting a Juice Fast/feast at that time all the way to my birthday, on August 26th! I think the summer would be a perfect time to do this. Two of the weeks, we will be vacationing at the beach in the Outer Banks, NC. How wonderful to wake up with the sunrise and take a walk/run on the beach as the waves crash around my ankles, then return to the cottage to make a yummy juice!!
I know my family will never "get it" but I honestly just don't care what they think. I am very used to them thinking I am extreme and eccentric. So while I cleanse my being and they eat their grilled animal flesh du jour and drink their numerous margaritas, while questioning why I am not partaking, I will just smile contentedly, bless them all and take another gulp of my green juice.
No time for a long post right now, but count me in! :)

Morn, I wanted to congratulate you one all of your accomplishments. I just read your website with the monthly updates. That is really something to be proud of. I haven't really taken the time to read everyone's personal blogs/sites/etc that they post in their signatures, but I am going to start making some time. It's really encouraging to be able to see progress like that on someones journey, and see that it even continues further past the point where I am at now on my journey.
Sorry about the off-topic post. Carry on people!:)

:) Only seven days remaining. Not sure what my next week will look like but I do not it will be animal product free. These warm summer days make even my favorite slip up, CHEESE, unbearable! Anyway:p Going to stock up on Kale and oranges at the farmer's Market this weekend and probably make up a good batch of flax crackers. I haven't had a 100% week in a while so ....
By the way my interfaith studies/path have brought me to
http://http://www.projectmelody.com/longhealingprayer.htm
give it a moment the press the play button and give it another moment. it's a healing prayer that I have been using in my AM devotion time, listening now and it is absolutely beautiful.
Hmmm think i'll go for a swim today and maybe do some senna tea over the weekend.

thanks Raw Vegan4Health! That is too funny as I just read a lot of your journey and you are doing great! I need to get my 8 month photos updated as there was a significant change from 7 to 8 months for me!

I started 100% raw on April 29th and am feeling great. Though there were a few bumppy weeks in the beginning. Going off caffeine is hard. I will however add some good quality home brew beer into my diet as well as organic sulfite free wine, but other than that I will be raw, it tastes and feels too good to give up. I think tastebuds begin to change, because I have never been so satisfied with food in my life.
My goals for June are to:
lose 5lbs
keep up my fitness routine
fast 1 day a week for every week
And wake up every morning saying a positive mantra for the upcoming day
pinkrosebud - come and join the June exercise challenge too!

:D KUDOS TO ALL WHO ARE ALREADY RAW
For those who are not, I encourage you not to gorge this holiday weekend! Last meal syndrome, makes cravings and withdrawl worse. Keep it simple and get ready to RAWK:D
rawnpawgirl
05-26-2007, 11:49 AM
Sixteen of us thus far- ready to RAWK!
I have never ever been 100% raw up to this point. Only 95% for several months last year. I have never been able to give up my Starbucks or the occasional wine/beer/margarita. I feel like such an addict. I also noticed that if I indulge in even one junky thing then I am all of a sudden out of control with binging.
For example--- last week my neighbor brought over homemade chocolate chip cookies. I couldn't reject her niceness, so I said Thank you so much for thinking of us! I had one, then two, then three. I felt gross and guilty! Two feelings I do not like feeling.
I am committed to this challenge. I am ready to overcome my food addictions! I am very motivated, but a little scared too! I believe I am finally ready to deal with the emotional detox that comes with eating raw!
I thought it would be fun for each of us to write a little blurb/overview including the following: (I'll go first)
Age- 40
Married 12 years w/three kids (age 9, 11, 13 - girl, boy, girl)
First introduced to raw- December 2005
Motivation for eating raw- emotional and physical health!!!!!
What percentage raw I eat now-- 50-85% depending on the day
Biggest SAD temptations- coffee, yogurt, cheese, salty snacks like chips
Current weight- 121 lbs
Height- 5' 5"

On my way to the pool. Taking my vegan zuchini muffin so I can contemplate how to make it raw.
Ran to Farmer's MArket today form Kale, zuchini, lemons and then Wild oats for Raw flax seeds so i can make crackers tommorow:p
rawnpawgirl
05-26-2007, 10:07 PM
Let me know what you come up with re. the zucchini muffin.
How about a combination of walnuts or pecans, soaked dates and/or raisins, zucchini, ground flax and or almond meal, cinnamon, salt, vanilla? Then put it in a muffin shape and dehydrate?
What are the ingredients in your vegan muffin?
Conscious Midwife
05-27-2007, 02:45 AM
I was considering using soaked oats groats for the base. I've used it for pizza dough in the past an it was kinda heavy like wheat flour, so i thought that might work, an then maybe spirall cut zuchini lots of cinn and nutmeg plus dates to sweten and walnuts. Not gonna use muffin cups though probably will try just making thick flat bread or something.
Can't remember the vegan ingredients, but it's a W.O. variety vegan muffin, the labe is on the bin. I'll check next time.
NO major memorial Day plans here, will have some boxed vegan ribs as my "last cooked supper" item and maybie veggie flavored pasta and EVOO.

i know what you mean! i was thinking, maybe i should go eat some vegan cake or something before starting, but i dont have any desire to! when i think about how i feel after eating cooked for those few moments of "satisfaction" it just doesnt compare to how bloated and gassy and tired i get afterward. i need to keep that in mind.

:p So, what strategies will y'all be using to keep yourself on track? I'll be meditating, checking in here with you guys, spending time in sunshine. The more sun I get, the healthier my appetite is. I'm on the coast of Oregon, sunshine is a commodity. I'm excited about this challenge! A little apprehensive about the committment but excited. I'm really digging deep about what this is about and challenging my own thought patterns, right down to the comforting idea of coming home to a crock pot of beans. Now I'll be coming home to sprouted beans. I got sprouted wheat berries in the dehydrator to make the cinnamon rolls with. I'm going to have fun with Raw recipes! Strategies for the month of June's raw challenge? That's a really good question Stina.
I'm going to use meditation too! I like to meditate first thing in the morning when I'm sitting down with my lemon water and the tea is brewing.
Exercise works for me too, especially if I make a schedule and stick to it.
Friday nights are my toughest nights for staying raw. We always had popcorn on Friday night when I was a kid. My DH makes it for me now. So, I'll plan for a long walk, or cleaning out some closets, no plopping down on the couch to watch TV all night.
Preparing foods ahead of time - chopping and cleaning veggies, soaking nuts and seeds - all the prep "stuff" - so that when I get home in the evening I can do the fun "stuff" for dinner.
Packing my green smoothie and lunches to take to workThat's it, that's enough . . . .
Forgot the most important one! - CHECKING IN WITH EVERYONE HERE!

I have been a raw enthusiast since Nov. 2005.
The longest I have been raw was 5 weeks and I lost 30 lbs!
However, I gained it all back since...
Emotional detox has been challenging for me in the past but I KNOW and BELIEVE that this time is THE time that I finally am able to become a 100% raw vegan FOR LIFE!
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better.
I'm 31 years old
married mother of a 4yo boy
massage therapist, Reiki master, natural foods chef, feng shui enthusiast
5'8" tall
am in the process of releasing 150 lbs. of negativity that no longer serves me!
I am so greatful to be among you!

Ok ok I'm in too. I've been raw for at about 3 months and I'm not having trouble staying raw but I AM having trouble eating the way I think is best for me on raw. So this month my goals are:
More greens/ green smoothies
Use hemp protein powder in smoothies
Maybe start rock climbing again???? or at least do other excersise
No avocados or nuts/seeds (personal reasons)
No Dates or mangos (possibly heat treated)
Other than that, tons of juicy good fruit and lots of positive thinking and healing

I am new to Raw Food Talk, and would very much like to be a part of the June challenge. Never having done this before I'm not quite sure how to keep involved with this challenge through this site. Any Information on it will be most helpful to me. I have been eating according to Alissa's book for the past two months and am at a point of needing support as I continue with my desire to remain a raw foodist for life . Thanks.

:) I am ready to take the plunge! I have been about 80% raw for the past month in preparation.
I am in the process of healing Lyme Disease, Hypothyroidism, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and Mercury Poisoning. Truly a mess, I know! I have been sick for 6 years and am recently much better with an herbal protocol. I believe the raw diet is the last stage to my healing. I have had a major paradigm shift over the past year and am certain that nature is what will heal me not allopathic medicine. I am looking forward to getting off my last anti-biotic and thyroid medicines soon.
(Lalakis- I am also in Baltimore and plan to participate in the Yabba Pot's raw challenge, although I am doing the basic registration of $25. The 35 meal program costs $250. Maybe you will still come to some of the events

Hi guys!
I'm in. But I'm going to be traveling in NYC for the 1st and 2nd (and making the rounds to 3 raw restaurants!!:) ). Then I leave for a week in the carribean from the 5th-12th. So I won't be posting a whole lot in the beginning, but I know I'll need you guys when I get back from vacation. I'm not worried about staying raw in NYC, but I am worried about my trip to the Cayman Islands. And I have had a hard time getting back to raw after my last couple trips then I cheated on. Though I am not *planning* to cheat.
BTW, I've been raw since December. Did December and April 100%. Have been mostly 100% the rest of the time with a couple weeks worth of cheats mixxed in. I love these monthly groups...they help so much. :D I can't believe it's been 6 months already!

It is time to recommit myself. Boy, is it time!
I've been "raw" long enough to know not to cheat! To know I will end up paying the price somewhere in my body, as I am now!
I want, want, want to be 100% raw. I want, want, want to loose 10+ pounds. I want, want, want to feel radiant inside and out.
But, I must start now, not wait another day or else tomorrow will never come, cause believe me, I'll really blow it on the 31st!
My goals: Sit to eat (I like that one). Continue to exercise daily. Pray/mediate daily. Absorb the sunshine. Love myself enough to do this for me. And report daily.
Thanks!

Rawnpawngirl: LOL. Yeah I know, woe is me. I just know that on my last trip to the carribean as a vegan I pretty much lived off of french fries, fruit and bread. But the fruit was way harder to come by than I'd expected...those small islands actually don't grow much other than coconuts and have to pay to ship it all in. I'm determined though!

COUNT ME IN! I SOOOO NEED ANOTHER CHALLENGE!!
Female, 36 years old (I just turned 36 on May 30th!)
Married 13 years (14 on August 21st anniversary)
kids: s12, d7, s9 homeschooled
First introduced to raw- July 2005- high raw...a couple of challenges with a goal this year of STAYING 100%. Not quite as successful as I want to be, but I'll keep at it, because it's when I feel the healthiest
Motivation for eating raw- Emotional, Mental, Physical health and weight loss.
What percentage raw I eat now-- Changes almost daily. 100% most days...occasional slips...so then it would probably be 80% on "slip" days.
Biggest SAD temptations- bread, sweets, coffee
Current weight- Around 135 right now.
Height- 5'1 last time I checked, but is it possible...I think I'm growing...I'm as tall as my mom (who used to be 5'3)...and I noticed last night that DH doesn't seem as tall as he used to be!(he's 6 ft.) A few inches would be nice. NOT THAT BEING SHORT IS BAD....I LOVE BEING SHORT...BUT Alittle taller would be nice.
Anyway...I'm in for the challenge. Going to the beach around June 16...so I won't post for a week, unless I can find a computer somewhere. I definitely want to get in some weight training...cardio, yoga....and lots of water to flush out all the cr*p I've eaten lately!!
Peace...STARFIRE ^~^~ (waiving to you!!)
Welcome everyone, I'm looking forward to making new friends.:D \

Hey Starfire- do you have any sapotes, black sapotes in particular?
I've been wanting to try one(or fifty :p ) and those little buggers are harder to find than a durian!
Anyone else a tropical fruit fanatic?
Vegan princess- Next time you go to the islands try St. Vincent or Dominica. They grow much of the produce for the rest of the Caribbean. My husband is from St.Vincent and we are planning to open an eco-tourism, holistic healing retreat center there within the next year or so. Can anyone say raw vegan vacation?

Good luck everyone! Let's frickin' do it!

Don't know if I can go the entire month...but I'm willing to see how many days I can make it 100%. It'll be tough...gotta prepare SAD for my dad and my kids...I'll just up THEIR raw and hope I can get them somewhat on board.
I'm also going to plan the menu for a week at a time. That should help a lot.

Hi all,
Last minute decision, but please count me in.
Just came back from Disney yesterday and feels crappy with nasal congestion (hubby and son not feeling very good either).
So, I'm actually starting raw today (so far just had apple and bananas - will have some nuts/seeds in a while).
Age- 33
Married - 5 years with 21 month old son (pix of him eating apple)
First introduced to raw- Read a lot but never did until I got sick and tired of eating crap - did raw for 10 days (5 days on fruits and veggies only and 5 days juice fast) about 3 weeks ago - got scared with below ribs pain so I stopped - will try again!!!
Motivation for eating raw- Allegies, Skin, Energy, Weight, Mental outlook, hoping for orgasmic birthing in the future :o
What percentage raw I eat now-- probably 25-50%
Biggest SAD temptations- muffins, pastas, RICE (I'm asian :) ), meat....OK almost everything - I LUV TO EAT!!!
Current weight- 114 (I was 118 lbs last month before I did the 10 day raw, lost 8 lbs. then gained back about 4 lbs so far)
"Happy weight" - 108-110 lbs muscled
Height- 5' 1/2"
I also need to sleep and wake up earlier (meaning no more web surfing - just limit computer usage to writing to this forum ;) ) and go to the gym every weekday (lift weights 3X/week, swim 2-3X/week, and walk/run 2-3X/week)
Till Tomorrow,
Adeline

Hi everyone,
I haven't posted for a while, I've been so busy lately. But I decided it was time to challenge myself again and go for 30 days at 100 percent. In the past, I've made it about 3 weeks at a time. Then something would happen to throw me off track, and it would always be so hard to get started again. So I decided to just be content with being at about 80 percent raw for a while, but I feel at this point that I really need to experience 100 percent for a while and the healing that it will bring. I recently found that I'm deficient in vitamin d and have a low red blood cell count, so I'm hoping I'll be able to heal myself this coming month. What I want to regain most of all is my ENERGY.
I'm 38 yo, married almost 15 yrs, have two boys, 10 and 12. My youngest son has posted a few times on this site - Magicparrot (thank you to all who responded to his posts, he was very excited to get replies!)
What has helped me the most in staying raw in the past is PLANNING AHEAD. If I take the time to work out a week's menu ahead of time on paper (not just for myself, but for my family, too, which include some cooked vegan dishes), I find that it's soooo much easier during the week. I'm going to really commit to doing that in June.
What helps all of you stay raw?
Many blessings and best of luck to you all!

Where was it located? The only raw stuff I have found at my Whole Foods so far is in the bulk aisle. At the end of the bulk aisle they have a bunch of dehydrated stuff like flax seed crackers, raweos and some other cookies. I haven't seen these items however. Just wondering if I should be looking somewhere else.

Hi! I'm in this month, too. And probably every month for the next year. I've been doing 1-3 month long 100% raw stints since August but I keep falling down.
Stats:
Age - 33
Married w/3 kids ages 9,5,3
SAHM, homeschooler, and everything that pertains to family except cooking and taking out the trash:p
My goal is raw for life + other specific goals
Biggest temptation is fast food
Weight/Height - 5'4" 132
I hate the way I feel when I eat cooked. I don't do steamed carrots. I go all the way with Jack or Wendy or anywhere. My biggest trigger is stress. DH travels alot = stress for me + kids = convenience of fast food and comfort.
I'm laying it out for the first time and not looking back. I'm doing grapefruit juice/smoothies until Monday. Then a group green smoothie cleanse for 7 days. I'm going to try and talk dh into doing it w/me. He's so much more supportive now than in August when I started this journey. I feel so much clearer, energetic, beautiful, and alive raw. I'd like to share it with him. Plus, my back kills me when I eat cooked now. I don't know how I dealt with it before.
So yeah, I'm in.

Fantastic Friday!
Again, just like last month... I'll post when I can...I have many journeys in June..... This is the 1st day of June and there are already over 100 posts... WHOAH....I see the June Challenge began May:) . Oh well, I'll read them later.... In the meantime.....
6 a.m. melon
9 a.m. melon
12 garlic bread sticks with marinara sauce (left over bread)
3 p.m. salad (romaine lettuce/cherry tomato slices/red onion/sliced avocado/
sprinkle of chopped pecans w/ acv/olive oil based dressing)
6 p.m. sliced red, yellow and green peppers with dressing
I'm going to try a dressing that I noticed on this link:
http://www.rawbc.org/raw_dressings.html
I'm using the one titled: Woody's Caesar Salad Dressing
I'm going to omit the items I don't have (tamarind paste, nutritional yeast, maple syrup/dates)... I think it will still be a good dressing... I'm going to add a plop of agave to instead of the maple syrup and dates.
I may end up opting for the Russian dressing instead which is on the link posted above (if I can crack thick coconut today)

Good Morning! this morning I haven't had anything YET...I've been checking e-mails, etc. and haven't taken the time.
Starting off with 10oz water, barleymax, tea.
Lunch will be something full of juice...maybe a fresh apple....maybe some carrot/veggie juice first and THEN the apple.
I'll post later. Also I GUESS I'll change my signature to reflect weight RELEASED this month.
I'm nervous about that, as EVERYONE will see my weight everytime I post...
I'll do it for ya'll though!!

Morning everyone!
I can see everyone is rivveddddddddd uppppppppppppp to go this morning! Myself incuded. I had a quart of juice for breakfast, including: wheatgrass, apple, cucumber and carrots. That will hold me for a good while. I did get on the scale and it wouldn't register:eek: It goes to 330, so I guess I am starting this challenge at 330+ and I think I will weigh in everyday, hoping this will keep me motivated! Also, am doing the picture thing and measurements. Check back with you all later!:D

Hello RawVegan,
Okay, I checked on foodology.com and it looks like they may only have this specific brand at the Los Angeles area Whole Foods. I'm not totally sure, but you can always go to their website and plug in your zip and see if they have a place nearby that caries foodology.
Some Whole foods or other health related groceries carry raw prepared foods in a special refrigerated section. At the one in Pasadena, it is close to the pastas and olive oils as well as the baking goods and health and beauty area. ????? In glendale CA it is just in the ordinary refrigerated area. You can always ask the whole foods worker if they carry prepared raw foods meals and they should know where they are located if they have them.
I hope this helps. Some of these meals are really quite good.
Best of luck this month on your journey.
~Liz
Happy June!

Shortly, will be having a large salad for lunch.

Okay! So I got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning but didn't let that send me straight to the non-raw food. Instead I made a smoothie! All organic fruit (Kiwi, blueberries, banana), water, ice and agave to make it sweetish. I'm drinking it now.
I know my struggles will come later today when I have to meet my sister for the day. I am going to stop at a local health food store called Mother's and buy some fruit and pre-made raw food to bring to her house. She is pretty health conscious so she will enjoy eating it too!
Good luck everyone!

Hello,
It is June 1st and I finally have put my foot down to try the 100% raw for 30-days. I am so glad there is this challlenge and place for me to post. (now I have to begin reading everyone else's so I can get to know each of you).
Here is some info on me:
33 y/o female
married
2 kids (2 1/2 y/o daughter; 8wk old son)
Occupation: Pilates Instructor
Hobbies: Running, Traveling, Scuba Diving, and PILATES
Why Raw: I have for years eaten about a 75% raw diet as it is, I never cooked my veggies but I have never really focused on eliminating cooked grains, sugar, or Dairy products. Now I am nursing my newborn son and at about 3 weeks of age he became extremely colicy and fussy, constantly grunting and clearly having issues that were painful. I attributed it to my diet and decided to cut out dairy; this has helped but not completely. So I decided to revisit the raw food diet which I began to introduce myself to last summer. So for the lst 3 weeks I have been preparing for 100% raw, by buying and reading Alissa's book, ordering some raw foods, and buying a food dehydrator. Now June 1 is here and the stove has been turned off.
I am excited to see how the Raw diet helps my newborn, and to lose weight.

Happy Friday Everyone!
Last night I went to Alive (http://www.aliveveggie.com/)in the city for food and wine. The dinner was excellent to say the least. I think all the yummy veggies I had last night put me in a secondary detox this morning! I never had a flatter stomach, LOL. I had a lot of food overall yesterday and I feel so much better today then when I have a miminal amount. Isnt that twisted?? Overall, I lose more weight when I eat more food. I long for the day when I can eat very little and feel just as alive as when I eat a lot now.

Feeling good today. I had melon for breakfast and a wonderful salad for lunch. I told my mom about going raw and she borrowed a raw cookbook from me so that she could make my daughter and I a raw food dinner tonight. I'm a lucky girl. I feel that by the end of this weekend I'll start to feel the true benefit of going raw.

hey guys!
I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to get over my matte addiction. I am recovering from Lyme Disease and have very little energy. I am fine with eating 100% raw, but my challenge area is putting down the matte. It gives me the extra bit of pep I need to function in life.
I am hoping that the longer I am raw the more energy I will have and eventually have no need for caffeine. Any thoughts?
thanks!

Greetings Everyone,
It's Day 1, I am ready for this challenge. I've been 100% raw since March 1, 2007. I haven't had much weight loss since I started. This June challenge will help me to restructure my eating. I can't imagine what I'm doing wrong. Maybe I make my salads too big. I am so proud of everyone for completing the May 31 day challenge, Congratulations!!!. Even though I was 100% raw, I didn't do so well. I gained about 3 pounds in the last few days. So far today, I haven't eaten anything except for a few sips of Kombucha. I think I will have a cup of Dandelion tea to rid myself of excess water. It may be that I am retaining some fluid.. I know tea is not considered raw, however the herbalist in me feels I need to make use of medicinal teas.
Good Luck Everyone!!!

Hey Dahlila,
Yerba Mate is actually chock full of antioxidants and has many benefits. The caffeine in it, or shall I say "mateine" is no where near as potent as coffee. Plus, coffee is very acidifying in the body and Mate is not. If you want to give it up, that is your choice, but in my humble opinion, I think there are FAR worse evils than a cup of Yerba Mate!
Of course, this comes from a total Mate lover and almost daily mate drinker. I love it in the a.m. while I meditate. I am a huge coffee addict, so if I can do Yerba Mate or green tea (love the Yogi Tea- Green w/super antioxidants), then I will be incredibly proud of myself!!
Now, if I stuff my face with a donut, THEN I will feel bad!! My goal this June is to EAT 100% Raw Foods. I love, love, love hot beverages in the a.m.- and I will not settle for any herbal tea just warmed slightly!! NO WAY! I just don't have the conviction it is bad for me.
Onto day 1 of the challenge-- it has been a very good day, but I can already feel some detox in the form of tiredness and a slight headache, plus I have a weird pimple forming on my shoulder. No BM today, BUMmer (ha ha, get it?) In conjunction with this challenge I am doing the Colonix Cleanse by Dr. Natura. This is the 2nd month doing it and I am not all that impressed, to be perfectly honest.
This is what I have had so far today:
Apple Cider Vinegar drink
Kombucha- a little cup of it
16 oz. Green Juice with kale, chard, carrot, cucumber, celerly, apple, lemon, ginger
YERBA MATE
green grapes
pineapple
Green Smoothie with blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, acai, banana, and spinach
Tonight for dinner, I plan on having avocado, lime, dulse wrapped in nori and a sesame coleslaw (the one from Rainbow Green Live Food Cuisine)

This is from a site about mate on the internet:
Truly a drink for body and soul, the Guarani Indians – the ultimate experts – have relied on the drink for centuries as a principle part of their diet. They believe it is good for:
boosting immunity
detoxifying the body
reducing blood pressure
toning the nervous system
controlling appetite
curing insomnia
retarding aging
reducing fever
Plus, research now supports the claims that yerba mate can help:
diabetes – by balancing blood sugar levels
constipation – by stimulating digestion
hypertension – by relaxing peripheral blood vessels
high cholesterol – by inhibiting the oxidation of LDL
allergy & hay fever – by reducing symptoms
A natural stimulant – without the side effects and toxicity of coffee – remarkably, it induces better (not worse) attributes of sleep.
It invigorates both the mind and the body promoting an overall feeling of well-being... and is a great natural source of nutrition.

Jes checkin in on this beautiful June 1st! I'm on Hawaii time so - all I've had so far today is a grapefruit (but it was a HUGE ONE!!) LOL ;)
Lunch will be a lettuce wrap with veggies inside
dinner - I'm planning a big beautiful and colorful salad! Dressing ... probably Goddess dressing (gotta check the ingredients - I think thats raw but I'll make sure first). if its not then raspberry vinegar with a dash of braggs!
might have room for some blueberry pie later! :p
so far - today has been RAWKIN! I started out my morning with a brisk walk - watched the sunrise over the ocean, came home did my ab crunches and showered... so I'm feelin frisky and rawmacious!
I got a really good feeling about this month -- somethings in the air - and it's wonderful! ;) :D RAWK on everyone!!
Ok I wasn't going to mention it but I didn't want you guys to worry about me. I know I was a little vague in my blog yesterday about what was ailing me. But I didn't want anyone to think my health condition had anything to do with my eating raw. So here it is. Today I went to a specialist to get my hemorrhoid removed. I begged them to get an appointment since I was still in a lot of pain today and couldn’t sit or exercise. So they did an emergency appointment and got me in. Thank God! So now I am in pain from the laser surgery and hopefully it will feel better and heal well over the next week. I am not going to push myself with the exercise. I will just have to take it a little easy over the next few days. Oh and another thing I forgot was I officially hit a new low today and am down to 160 which is officially at the 70 pound weight loss mark. Yeah for RAW! Foods eaten:
Garden salad with pinenuts & raspberry vinegarette dressing
garden side salad
Hummus with veggies
Tangerine green tea

Just checking in: doing great for the first day of June.
Breakfast: 1 quart of juice from kale, wheatgrass, apple, carrots & cuke
Snack: banana/apple
lunch: red pepper/vidalia onions/mushrooms marinated w/sea salt/a little olive oil/lemon juice with some flax crackers I dehydrated last night consisting of raw salsa I froze from my garden last year and some carrot pulp left over from juicing, they turned out pretty good. I will remember to do them again. Also, had 1/2 avocado
Dinner: vegie salad w/O&V& some lemon juice and for snack tonight I have a watermelon waiting or maybe a fruit smoothie or maybe both? :D
I agree with you starfire about this being a good month. Maybe it is my time to make it this time.:)
Oh I almost forgot - my husband also updated my website and I finally posted my eight month raw pictures.

So today was great. I had a bunch of watermelon, some green juice, Rooibos tea, celery and almond butter, dates and pecans. Not all at the same time! I was going to make a great salad, had it all planned out and everything but got sidetracked, like all day... Also I have been making lemonade like crazy (just lemon juice, stevia, raw honey, water and lemon verbena from my garden.) Man, is it hot here in Florida, perfect lemonade weather, except for the rain...:p
Peace to all of you. Hope everyone had a great day.

Hey all! I just wanted to post. I did not eat very well today. I started out great, but around 1:30 pm, my pregnant sister called. She had passed out at a local restaurant and wanted me to come and pick her up and take her to the Dr. Well, DH just happened to be home and we rushed to get her. I had not eaten all day...just tea and barleymax...and was getting ready to eat....but totally missed a solid meal until 6pm tonight...where my parents took us out. I ate a vegetarian meal...I won't list it...but it wasn't a salad...I was just too famished for that. I have to remember, now that I'm dedicated to getting through June, to keep granola, or a raw bar in my car and purse for emergencies. Can anyone recommend a TRUE raw bar???
By the way, my sister is FINE...they think her sugar is spiking and then diving. When she did her gestational diabetes test, she was borderline. The Dr. recommended for her to NOT eat fruit...and cereals and things she's been eating that she did not realize was high in sugar. Lots of protein and veggies for her. She is a SAD eater.....but when I went to visit her tonight...she asked ME all kinds of questions about what foods to eat. My family and friends always ask me...like I'm a Dr.....I guess REALLY I know more about food and nutrition than just about any dr. I started studying nutritionto when I became a vegetarian at age 17. Anyway....scary day...tomorrow is a new one...NO MORE SLIPS FOR ME!!
TIP TO MY FRIENDS IN THE CHALLENGE
ALWAYS BE PREPARED!!!

Hello!
So far, so good! I love drinking smoothies and blended fruit juices! I love creating my own fruit&veggie combinations too!
I am completely new to the raw food lifestyle, so I hope you don't mind if I ask a question.
I went grocery shopping for the first time yesterday, for raw food! I came across an "Organic" brand (President's Choice Organics) and they had products like organic cereal, organic milk, organic juice, etc... My question is, are these products 100% organic, and can you trust them? When I looked at the ingredients, they certainly seemed to be organic, right down to the sea salt, but since I am new, I just wanted to double-check with all of you.
Thanks!
lavendarj, I recently had a friend who suffered the same devastating misfortune. I am praying for your brother and sister-in-law. May they be comforted and given peace at this time.

Wish I could tell ya, but I have no idea.
Yesterday was the first day of the june challenge, and it was great! I had a banana and some carrots for breakfast, two bananas, a whole bunch of pineapple and a bunch of raisins for lunch, more carrots as a mid afternoon thing and ... I don't remember what I had for supper. Oh yeah and I ate two apricots somewhere in there today.
TOday for breakfast I had some carrots and ... geez, I don't remember what else I ate, but I know it was fruit.
I had these people that I work with comment about how I eat so much fruit, and they were really nice about it, but it made me feel good that people are noticing my good eating habits and commenting on them in a positive way!

Congrats to everyone that made the first day, including myself!:)
Today I feel is going to be as successful.
I am kind of happy with myself. Last night met sister & brother-in-law at funeral home for a mutual friend and was invited out for dinner and declined because I was afraid I would be to tempted with SAD. They insisted, so I went and ordered a simple dinner salad, no cheese and just plain Oil & V & L. My sister-in-law even laid a piece of a SAD pancake w/butter & syrup on my plate and when she realized I wasn't going to eat it, she took it back! I tried to explain to her that I really need to lose this burdening weight and get healthy. And then this morn my hubby wanted breakfast out, two friends appeared and we invited them to join us - they all had SAD smorgasboard, I had a beautiful cantaloupe & honeydew melon plate w/herb tea. I did so good! I felt happy and contented. Not like I was being deprived and of course that is what I keep telling myself is that SAD would make me deprived. We went and walked around a car show afterwards and I just listened to my body. As I was walking I was winded and it was hard to maneuver and hold my balance, but, at the same time I was joyful for the answer to my dilemma and that is to continue with living foods. Right here and right now, I feel good. Thanks to everyone here, I need you.

Good morning everyone!
I hope you all are doing fantabulous on the 2nd day into the raw challenge! I am drinking my non raw tea at the moment but everything else that has gone into my mouth has been raw!
Our family is going up into the mountains to go hiking today (I live in gorgeous Colorado) so I really need to put some thought and planning into what I am going to bring to stay raw and fulfilled in my tummy. I don't have time to do any trail mix stuff cuz I have no nuts soaked, so I need to go to Plan B.
I am going to go look in the fridge now and see what I can come up with. The rest of the fam is packing a oh so SAD picnic lunch.
Last night, we made a fire in the firepit on the deck and the kids were roasting and eating marshmallow after marshmallow which was grossing me out. I hate seeing the one's I love shoving that *$#@ down their throats but they have to figure it out for themselves, especially when my hubby is right there with them driving them to the store to get marshmallows.

Hello....
Happy Saturday....
Thanks Morn, Raw, and Angie.... it's so hard to see them sad right now but I believe that joy is on the way.
So far today, I had some yummy prunes for breakfast. I don't know what the rest of the day will bring. I've been doing some abdominal massage because something feels stuck and I noticed I'm a little bloated. Whenever, I'm under a lot of stress I always get constipated and I get bloated. I bet I gain 1 or 2 pounds when I weigh in everyday. Too bad I can't be like my cousin and lose 2 or 3...anyway, it's only momentary.
Depending on how much they cost, I may have watermelon today.. going to the grocery in just a second. I think I may also have some tuna with this celery and bell pepper that I need to eat.

Stick with it and know that your body has been changing so much in other ways over the past several months. I won't promise to read every entry and respond to every entry..but I want to be here :D
Yesterday was day one for the family as some of you know from my post in the Raising Raw Kids forum - not sure how my eldest son did all day as he ended up going over his friends house yesterday evening but far as I could tell, most of them did okay. The only non-raw thing I know that my little one ate was a small bowl of organic cereal (that I'm allowing them to finish off) with nut milk. After that's gone, they'll have the option to eat raw cereal I'll make or just fruit or smoothie :::shrugs::: But most of them ate stuff like fruit, smoothie, ice cream and I think baby carrots. I don't think my eldest ate much of anything at all. But I DO have to go shopping today.
For me, I had (the following are all raw): green smoothie, butter-pecan ice cream, vanilla-banana shake, baby carrots with onion dip, a banana, fruit cereal (bananas, apples, raisins chopped in bowl with almond butter, agave, cinnamon and a little water).
Today so far only a few cashews but I'm about to make a green smoothie.
LavendarJ, I'm sorry to hear about your family's grief - peace and comfort to all!

"OMG - LOOK AT HER - DAMNnnnn HER HUSBAND MUST BE SO THRILLED - LOOK HOW SEXY SHE LOOKS -- WOW SHE'S BEAUTIFUL!!" SLAP...SLAP... "WHAAAT???? WHAAAAAT DID I SAY???" Hi All,
So far I've been 100% raw today - still need to consume some greens yet.
Magglepie and Sweet Pepper,
Thanx. I'll try to figure it out later. Just thought it would be great to attach the blog's link so I don't have to re-write all my food intake
Rawnpawgirl,
I know what you mean about getting grossed out when your kids eat "unapproved" food. Whenever my mom-in-law or grammy-in-law feed my son cake or pastries, I just turn my head away as it pains me to watch  :D
Tuliza,
What do u usually eat?
Rawchicky,
10 mangos? Wow...and I thought i eat too much fruits :D
Starfire,
What did u put in your smoothie? I'm still trying to get used to the idea of blending spinach... I should "just do it", huh?:)
OK, enough typing for me and start blending,

Hi there, I'm mamabird. I started with you yesterday.
I'm 53 yrs old and healthier than most women my age that I know. I don't feel as good as I could. I've followed the "fit for life" on and off since his book first came out.
I have a beautiful son whos almost 20. I home schooled him till 17. He moved away and lives with his long time and only sweetheart. And after 20 yrs. I left my unhappy marriage. I'm back with my boyfriend from 27 yrs ago. Been together 2 yrs. And he eats absolutly horrific. He's diabetic and has high blood pressure. Over the two years, I started eating junk again and all my aches and pains came back. I'm also exhausted and have aged from this unhealthy life style. I'm feeling depressed as well. And hate my job, never having to work before.
I want my health back and want to be a good example for my man. We're the same age. He is 15 minutes older than me. I'm finnaly happy and want to live a long time with him. So, I'm wanting support. You seem like a dedicated group. I'm Looking forward to getting to know you and this lifestyle.
I had a boring fruit day yesterday. Not much money to spend on my food till next week. So, I had bananas, apples and nuts. Today I'm going to make some almond mylk and add dates and bananas and what ever else I can find to throw in.
Thankyou for being here.

any way.... RAWBIES... GUESS WHAT?? I JUST HAD TO SHARE with all of you ... that RIGHT NOW - AS I TYPE THIS -- I am eating the MOST WONDERFUL AMAZING tomato! My landlord here at work just walked into my office and put a small vine rippened organic tomato on my desk - still got dirt on it! :D (my office is in the country - and he has veggies and herbs growing right outside my office door!) so I wiped it clean and I'm munching on it right now -- and my landlord says - want some salt with that.... Nooooo..... !!! I WANT IT JUST LIKE NATURE INTENDED - RAW AND YUMMY!!! Okay - I just had to share my bounty with you! ;) :D

What did u put in your smoothie? I'm still trying to get used to the idea of blending spinach... I should "just do it", huh?
Okay - I haven't done a green smoothie yet - Im right there with ya thinking -- oh my gaawddd... its green! will I turn into the green hulk or morph into the creature from the black lagoon...(oops showing my age there!) lol!
Plus I dont' have a super dooper mixer that will do veggies... and I just can't imagine drinking a green smoothie with chunks... blehchhh.... :o
so - this morning I just had some fresh squeezed OJ with a handful of organic strawberries, a dollop of honey (organic) and one applebanna. (that's NOT one apple and one banana.... that's the NAME of the banana! I don't know if they have those on the mainland - it's a very small short sweet/tart kinda banana - a local treat!) I know easy smoothie - not very adventerous - but hey - I'm borrowing a blender from the 1800's... I gotta kick start it and pump it to turn at all!! (j/k;) ) I'm grateful for the use of it!
good luck on your green smoothie - !! Brave girl you!!

OMG!! OMG!! OMG!! tomato is GONE..! :D :D ! but it was really wonderful! Talk about fresh huh?? just picked... now that's RAW! LOL!!
and this is my first smoothie cuz I didn't have equipment either - my friend finally took pity on me and loaned me hers - I swear it's an antique - I think it runs on donkey power... dangle a carrot infront of the donkey's nose and as he runs after it - the blender moves faster !! lol!! ;)

Anyways, I had to go out so I didn't get to do the green smoothie (yeah, excuses :D ) I used to mix banana, OJ, and Vitamineral green, so I guess that's considered green smoothie???- it was pretty good....
I think I'm just going to make veg juice for now - I need some celery/carrots/spinach in my system.... now, I wish the juicer would just clean itself.:D
In terms of blender, have you seen Magic Bullet? It's retails at about $60 - I used 20% off coupon at Bed Bath and Beyond. Very easy to use and clean.

to get your blog in your signature, go to "User CP" and click "Edit Signature". Then typ in the text you want to appear for your link. Then highlight that text and look along the top of the edit box menu for a picture of a globe with a little chain link under it. Click that and enter the URL for your blog and hit the OK or whatever button it is. That should change the text you wrote into some code, and when you hit "Preview" it should show the text you entered as a link.

We are back from the hike which was loads of fun, except it started to thunderstorm at one point. We hiked to a waterfall and saw amazing views.
For our picnic, I ended up bringing a cucumber salad with cukes, cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, dulse, lemon juice and a spash of ACV.
I also brought some cashews, sunflower seeds, raisins, and prunes.
It was very yummy. On the way back, we stopped at the store and I got a big bag of cherries on sale for $1.90/lb. (they were 5.99/lb- eee-gads!) and I gnoshed down on plenty of those.
I just loooovvvvveeeee cherries!
For dinner, I am making a big salad and some Cleansing Corn Chowder from Raw Food- Life Force Energy book by Natalia Rose.
Starfire- you crack me up! I totally relate to your sense of humor! And btw, I am sooo jealous of your swimming hole! Wow is all I can say! My DH and I went to Hawaii for the first time last December and I honestly did not want to leave. We went to Kona and to Maui. The fruits were so delicious. I had a delectable smoothie from a little roadside stand and saw fruits I never knew existed! MMMMMMM.
Also, I agree with RV4H- You guys have gotta get over your wimpiness and eat a darn green smoothie!!! I hate my blender though and I never created one of those beautiful SMOOTH green smoothies that are created by the Vitamix. They look blissful. Mine always has some chunks and bits of spinach, but they still taste great!
Morn- I also showed my husband your photos. He is like "Yeah, great" cuz he is so tired of me calling him from some other part of the house to see pictures and read this and that. He sometimes thinks he is losing his wife to the computer cuz I am up late sometimes responding/reading posts from RFT and he goes to bed alone feeling sorry for himself cuz he thinks he isn't going to get any "action", if ya know what I mean! ha, ha. Poor poor man.
Anyway, waaaay off topic-- my initial point was that Morn looks GORGEOUS! Such an incredible transformation!!

So day 2 was no problem for me, the food part at least. I'm going to wait until I've completed the 30 day challenge to weigh myself. Too stressful otherwise. I'm pretty much still eating mostly watermelon, but I did make a dandy tomato-basil-sunflowerseed pate' that I put on romaine leaves. It was really good but I couldn't eat too much of it.
OMG!!!!- I almost forgot...
A MIRACLE HAPPENED TODAY!
My dh brought me home some killer (literally, it could probably kill you, grease, dairy, white flour, all the nasties, except meat) West Indian Rotis from this great Trinidadian (or Trinny, if you are into ethnic slang) restaurant. I DID NOT EAT THEM!!!!!!! You have no idea what a big deal this is to me. I am VERY proud of me'self.:D
Oh, also, me and Linc (my 4yo ds) made blonde brownies today (raw vegan) and they came out great. I'm so glad he loves my raw goodies at least... He however, did eat his roti...:(
Hope you are all having a glorious weekend.
ONE LOVE!

We took off our pool cover today and our water was completely green with tons of algae. Completely disguisting! And of course our pool pump went out the same day and now we need to install a new one. Luckily we ordered one a few weeks ago since we knew last year it would be on its way out. And then all the cabinets we are building for the library have tons of screwed up pieces so we are at a standstill with that project too and have to wait for the company to ship us out new pieces. My whole house is torn apart and I am behind on laundry and behind on writing out the bills for the first of the month. Everywhere I turn is another project. I feel swamped. Help I am drowning! But glad to be here with you all instead of turning to SAD food to comfort me. When I ate a SAD diet I used to run to food when I was stressed. I am proud of myself for not doing this today! Foods eaten:
A few Veggies with a couple spoonfuls of hummus
Raw cashews
cherries
Veggie sushi rolls with ginger
Small garden salad with ginger dressing
Miso soup

Day 3 for me and I did it! I am so proud of me! In fact, I am putting smiley faces on my calender for every day that I do 100%. I also put little red hearts on the days I exercise. Am planning on a very colorful calender come June 30th.
First two days I had a caffine headache -- dang that forbidden chocolate! Today, though, no headache! And I managed to loose 1 and 1/2 pounds.
I'm so happy, see me dance a little jig around the computer??
Rawvegan4 Health - Thanks for the encouragement! I like the idea of spinach with pear in your green smoothies. I haven't had pears in a while. Anyway it sounds good! I have also shared with my husband about you. Do you have some pictures you could post. Like some befores and afters. You are doing so good!
Magglepie - So happy others are noticing your healty eating. Maybe soon you will rub off on them. Alot of peole want to eat healty but don't take the time out of their lives to make a plan to do so!
Sweetpepper! Thank you also for the encouragement! Congrats on your 2 eating out victories! We need you Too!
Tulzia - Thank you for your kind note. I don't think you are doing anything wrong. Since you have been working out you are probably now gaining muscle and that weighs more than fat. Don't be alarmed. I wouldn't concentrate on what the scale says as much as how do you look and feel in your clothes. Maybe take measurements of yourself as another way to gauge your progress. Your body will come around! I know you won't give up. We are going to meet our goals together! I remember One month only losing a few pounds but I took off a ton of inches. Exercise will do this. Hang in there!
ThnkyouJesus - If you are serious about wanting to add more exercise into your life, join us in the June exercise challenge. http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=27448 You set your own goals and just post when and what you do when you exercise. Hope to see you there!
Rawkinlocs - So glad you have graced us with your presence! I would love to know how you make the butter pecan icream. Sounds awesome!
Snowdrop - congrats on the weightloss so far.
Starfire- you have me laughing so hard!:D Tell your husband my husband is estatic! Actually he is the one who made and updates the website for me. Also tell him thanks (and you) because you guys made my day! That was a huge compliment. By the way I tried to view your pictures the other day and I couldn't get to them. Can you upload them and attach a few in one of your posts in the 30 day challenge section like I did. I would love to see them.
Mamabird1953 - Welcome - So glad you are with us!
Rawpawngirl - Thanks for the compliment. Yeah I know what you mean about the males feeling like that are not getting enough action thingy. I laughed at your post cause I have been there done that. My husband hoards the computer and sometimes I can't get on here until late at night and then he is upset that I am not upstairs with him. O well if we want to keep up with our goals we have to stay focused and converse with likeminded people so I figure I really need to be here. Trust me my DH gets taken care of too though! They just have to wait a few. And we are worth waiting for!
QueenB - Good for you - We are proud of you too!
Bdraw - you also need to join us in the exercise challenge thread for June. I love the little red heart thingy. Just post what you do and how long you do it. It doesn't have to be a long post!
I didn't get to name everyone by name but I am so glad we are all in this together. There are so many of us in the June challenge it is hard to converse with everyone all the time. But everyone is important and we all need each other! I am so glad to be with you all!

BDraw - Good call on the calendar. I like tracking my progress and achievements on my blog. It's nice to be able to look back sometimes and see what you have done. That is good motivation sometimes.
JeannieH - Great to have you here for this month as well!
Queenb - That is great news that you overcame such temptation. So rewarding!
rawnpawgirl - that sounded like a great view from the hike! Nothing like that here in Kansas!
Morn, I really wish I had the foresight each time I changed my diet (vegetarian, vegan raw) to have taken photos for before/afters. I guess I just never thought about that! I started realizing this just a bit after starting my blog to record my progress. I started changing my diet on 2/5/07 but never started recording progress on my blog until the first week in April.
Once I realized I didn't have a true "Before" shot, I was a bit discouraged about using photos for some reason since I didn't have a complete record of progress in terms of pictures. I'm just such a dang perfectionist sometimes!
I know there is a photo of our house from late last year with me standing in front, basically showing my whole big old fat self!:p, but I am kinda small there. It was a 6 megapixel shot though, so I may be able to work with it anyway. I'll track it down since it's probably my best candidate for a "Before" shot. I lost a lot of photos on my old computer that crashed back in December or January. I found a head shot (looks more like a mug shot) of me on my phone taken late last year. It's just a head shot, but my face looks a lot thinner already. I'll ask my wife to take some pictures of me tomorrow, but until then this "before head-shot" is all I have. I couldn;t get the picture to show up in the thread for some reason, so here is a link that will show it.

Great job everyone! Also, thanks for the love! :D
Rest of the day was all raw for me. My afternoon/evening intake:
Kale chips
Grawnola
Grapes
Watermelon
Cashews
Peach cobbler and ice cream
Green smoothie
The kids are doing great. They did have popcorn, though because I am allowing them to finish off what I had bought last week at the co-op...there's only enough left for one more go-round and then that's the end of that! I know they've been eating a lot of watermelon amongst other fruit. They also had a few kale chips...gotta make more!
Morn, the butter pecan recipe is here on the forum...here's the link to it:http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=2171&highlight=butter+pecan+ice+cream

Drumroll is in order! This is my 3rd day! I feel good and positive. Remember I stated my scale would only go to 330? and it wouldn't register my weight? So, I started at 330+. Well, it registered this morning at 329. I am so happy and I want to keep it going down, down and down.
Yesterday I had 2 large green smoothies/spincah, bananas & apples. Avocado with flax crackers, couple apples, bananas, watermelon, walnuts, brazil nuts, sunflower seeds. Just pretty much snacked all day.
Planning on going to see Matt Monarch in St Louis today. If I don't talk myself out of it. Gas prices and 1.5 hours into the city, yadda, yadda, yadda. I have been waiting to see him for several months now. Why am I trying to talk myself out of it?

WELCOME TO DAY 3 EVERYONE!!!
I ate really well yesterday. I had...
a Green Smoothie
handful of nuts
raw coconut when I found out how to open it :P
orange
LOTS of water
AND THEN...
I went to a graduation party and there was absolutely nothing raw to eat...and I was so hungry. I ended up eating a few of the cooked vegetables that they had and immediately stopped because I figured "what's the point...it's DEAD!!!". It really tasted horrible to me. They were bbq'ing carcas and I thought I was going to be sick...it's so strange because I used to LOVE meat...I never EVER thought I could live a raw lifestyle. And now just 2 weeks of living this way I can't believe I waited this long to eat this way.
Anyway...I came home very hungry and ate sprouted grain bread with some almond butter on it!

Hey gang. Happy Sunday! It is so beautiful outside. The sun is shining, finally, with only some clouds, so I am going to be spending a lot of time out doors today.
So far have only had breakfast, as it is only 10 a.m. I had a banana, some pineapple, a whole bunch of raisins and some carrots at 6. Just now I finished off some more raisins and my favorite drink ever: Water.
Morn, I too am glad that people are taking comment of my healthy eating. I hope that people will see how healthy eating is changing me and realize that stuffing their faces with junk is not good!
Rawkie, are any of your kids all raw? Just curious. I am always wondering what it would be like to raise raw kids, because so many kids in this modern society are used to filling their stomachs with the SAD diet. It makes me happy to see parents who teach their kids to make healthy choices.

It's never too late to start!:)
Rednurseceo - WooHoo! I thought you might enjoy it! I think most everyone that tries it does. It's dang healthy and real easy, so just had to try and say something to get you to try it!:o Wasn't trying to be pushy....or was I?:D
Had a fruit smoothie for breakfast, and about to have a green smoothie so I can turn into the creature from the black lagoon. The creature has webbed feet and should help me when swimming at the pool this afternoon. Can't wait to spring out of the water on some unexpecting people with my hideous greenishness!:p

WELCOME BeaTx
Rawvegan4health - you are a good looking guy even in your before picture! Only better things to come! Now aren't you glad I asked you? One day you will be able to show everyone your progress. Also hang on to your largest size shirt and pants so you can take a picture of yourself holding them up when you get down to your goal weight. Or my husband said I should take a picture actually in them. The only thing is if I truely get down to my goal weight they may fall off (cause I want to lose 100 pounds)!
Rawkinlocs - thanks for finding the thread for me. I was craving something sweet last night but I was to lazy to get up and make something so maybe I will try this later tonight!

Uh Oh, I had a snag!
I had a latte this morning because every Sunday my husband and I go on walks to the dog park and we always stop at our little cafe and get lattes.
Well, I justified to myself- "Is it really a big deal to have a latte once a week?"
I didn't even really enjoy it going down and then afterwards I felt shaky, anxious, and irritable-like my blood sugar was way out of control. I knew that eating fruit would not help at all, so I ate a rice cake with almond butter and blueberries with some yogurt and granola to try and calm down my blood sugar.
Lesson learned, big time!!!! I wish I could bottle that feeling and feel it each time I was even thinking about cheating.
I am not bashing myself though. I am just moving forward and continuing on eating raw 100%!

I did okay yesterday but I had a major slip up in the afternoon....I explain it all in my blog so I won't tell the tale again here =)
Today I starting off well....I'm drinking a green smoothie right now. I am trying to up the greens in the smoothies but just knowing that there is green in this smoothie is enough for me right now.
I am planning on making nori rolls today for dinner....I used to eat those a lot with my husband when he was alive and they easy and cheap to make. I'd also like to dig my dehydrator out of the garage and make some crackers I think. I feel like I need to really plan my meals more than I have been doing so today might be a good day to do that.
I'm going out to lunch with my friend today but luckily we are both vegan so it's easy to pick a raw friendly place. We are thinking Native Food's in Costa Mesa, they always have something raw on their menu.
Okay, time to shower and finish my smoothie and get moving!

Slipped up? So what. Here's a new day, a new moment! =)
We went out for tappas with friends last night. I had one slice of a crust with some fresh veggies on it... tiny. A transgression, sure BUT....
just home from grocery shopping. I dropped $160 at Trader Joes... oh boy, is it ever fun with all of the new produce coming out with the season.
I'm working on some new recipes and am so jazzed about raw. Glad to have refound my spark. =)

Just getting a chance to check in.... okay so my brother and sis-in-law (I hate saying that...but I guess brother and sister would seem strange :) )... requested lasagna (not the raw kind).. and so here I am at their house waiting on it to finish baking so I can top it off and garnish it.... I didn't say nothing this time because you know they are going through right now... so I held off on the lectures. I was just thinking at the grocery store... this is the first time that I actually traveled throughout the other isles in a long time (since I embraced raw last August).. it took forever in the grocery store to shop..it's so fast when I shop for myself because I only go to the produce section....wow, I forgot how long it took to grocery shop... so anyway, when I was making the sauce, it came time to check it after about an hour of the spices and tomatoes and everything mingling, I didn't want to taste it but knew it was inevitable; I had to make sure the sauce tasted right so I put a spoon in my mouth and swished it around and then spit it out in a little disposable cup I had.. I also swished my mouth out with water afterwards... I just have to laugh at myself... I'm like either I'm really anal or I have really transitioned my mindset... the old me would have broken down and eaten something I was preparing but now it's not even a thing which is pretty amazing I must say... the only thing is I felt bad about feeding them this cooked when my raw lasagna is so much better but with the situation with the baby and everything I just said "okay"... there will be another time for a raw food lecture; all in good time
Anyway, I ate some cherries early this morning and I haven't ate anything else... I guess that would explain the growling... I just don't have the appetite with the situation going on here... I was right about gaining weight...I gained about 1.8 stressed pounds... I know it's stress and so I don't even care...here's what is so neat about this weight gain thing; I felt myself gain the weight earlier in the week..It sounds weird but it's like I notice any little changes now. I just knew it and I think this is cooooool... while no one who is losing weight wants to gain it's like since I've been raw I am really in tune and in sync with my body on a far deeper level compared to when SAD foods ruled my world. It's a blessing to be in tune with my body. In the meantime, I am going to try to eat something because it's definitely not healthy to not eat... my body has gotten used to me feeding it every 3 hours...

Hi Queenb aka Rawmama,
I checked your latest blog. That salad looks scrumptious.
How do u make the blonde brownies?
Do you live close to Tampa/Clearwater/St. Pete area?.... we had the much welcomed rain yesterday PM and early today.
Take care,
Adeline
Hi Adeline-
Thanks for the love!
We live in the Ft. Lauderdale area and it rained like crazy!
The blonde brownies are still in the experimental stage. They taste really good but are still a little crumbly/soft if you don't freeze them. I think they will be better if made with dates but I was all out. So here goes:
2 c. pecans
2 heaping tbsp. raw honey (substitute 1/2 to 3/4 c. dates)
1/2 c. gogis (you could substitute raisins, or maybe dried apricots, or all 3)
1/4-1/2 tsp. salt
process for what seems like eternity in your food processor until doughy
put in a 8"x8" pan and freeze
unmold and cut into any size pieces you want.
I think that they would also be good with some walnuts tossed in at the end of the processing but I try not to mix nuts because the digesting becomes problematic for me.
Thanks for everyone who supported me in not eating the junky take-out food!
You are all so great.
Hope you are all having a fantastic Sunday!
Well I had to try the butter peacan icecream that Rawkinlocs had yesterday. I must say it was fabulous! A must try for everyone! Foods eaten so far:

I am going to have to spend some time searching out everyone's recipes. You guys are eating well!
I'm doing a green smoothie cleanse starting tomorrow. Since I'm still amazed at the power of my new Vitamix I've been doing a lot of smoothies, watermelon soup and fresh fruits. I haven't made the effort to plan my meals yet - I'll do that over the cleanse. Until then, I'm doing raw the simple way.
Hopefully, I'll get my blog started soon.
Have a good week everyone!

Hi all!
After my slip up this am., I picked myself up by the bootstraps and have had a green smoothie with orange, pineapple, strawberry, romaine, and parsley.
I have also had a few pecans and a Lara Bar when I was hungry during grocery shopping at Whole Foods.
For dinner, I am going to have a nut milk smoothie with carob and hemp protein. I am more in the mood for a salad but I really need to use up my almond milk while it is still good.
That is it for now. RAWK ON EVERYONE!!!

One more day down and 99.9% raw -- had to test that stuff I made the family for dinner -- glad it tasted uck to me!
I'm so proud of me -- especially when I look in the mirror. It amazes me how 100% raw takes away my belly. (I keep doing a double take. ;) )
It is so neat to see so many involved in this challenge -- we can do this!

Hi all,
Made it today - whew!!! I'm going to bed right after I post this so I don't get tempted by anymore food.
RV4H,
You pushy? Nah, never - just reminded me of a certain drill sargeant. HOORAH!!!!:D
Rawkinholics,
How do u make kale chips and peach cobbler? Is it is in Allisa's book?
Rawnpawgirl, Beckla, and Xinmiwayx,
Just think about it: overall, you're still eating much healthier compared to maybe 95% of the US population.... "slip-up" or not - be proud of yourselves!!! (that's what I thought to cheer myself up the first day of the challenge - i had sardines and rice :o )
LavenderJ,
Lasagna...hmmmm....I can almost smell it...."taste and spit" is a great idea...I would have to borrow that when cooking for my son :) .
Rastadawta,
Welcome!!! Just post on this thread - and if you want, also write on your blog.
Denise,
Welcome and Happy Birthday!!!
Queenb,
Thanx for the recipe. I'll try the brownies sometime this week (along the famous butter pecan ice cream). I need some comfort food :)
LifeAgift,
Thanx for the beautiful arts.
Till tomorrow,

Hey you guys- I'm okay. I can't believe it. I had a banana shake for breakfast, a huge green smoothie for lunch, nuts for a snack, and yet more raw cocoa/avocado pudding for dinner. A few times I felt weird this afternoon like heat was emanating from various body parts, joints, now that I think about it, but I'm okay. That's interesting actually, considering that Raw relieves the pain of arthritis. God, I'm praying detoxing will be manageable! Thanks for the support y'all! Love, Stina
p.s. green smoothies with cilantro is a very interesting taste experience

Hi All,
just checking in.
I'm on day 16 of my own personal challenge and loving it for many reasons. Mostly because it is so difficult. I'm mean really hard. I fight the urge to eat all of my old favorites. Especially in times of stress. ; )
Here are the stats:
SEX: Female
AGE: 34
Family: Married for 13 years; 2 Daughters: 13 & 10
First introduced to raw: Many years ago. I had been vegetarian for 10 years and worked in the health food industry. I just never had the nerve to give up all things cooked before.
Percentages: 100% RAW- Day 16 on my second run. This time with my husband
Biggest SAD temptations: Pizza, bread and olive oil, Thai food
Current weight: 183 I think (starting weight 186)I'm not really losing weight which is really upsetting.
Before you ask..... No, I'm not consuming too many nuts. I have drastically reduced my intake since my food processor broke. I also exercise often. But I'm open to suggestions if you have any that will help. I really try to take care of myself and I feel as though I deserve to fit in my clothes. Right? ; )
Height: 5ft. 6.5in.
Power to all the raw foodies out there.
there is power in numbers.
Cheers

Hey peeps! Listen, I am REALLY lazy when it comes to doing a lot of writing/typing and it's just a bit much to write here AND in my blog. So, I'll just be blogging from here on out and if anyone cares to see how things are going, you can visit my blog. :) Thanks for understanding!!
Oh...Rednurseceo, there is a kale chips recipe in our recipe section here on the site. But basically you just wash and break the kale into pieces (I remove the stem and as much of the vein as I can) and marinate (you can use nama shoyu, a little olive oil and seasonings of choice) for about an hour or longer (I like overnight because the flavors absorb better) and then drain and dehydrate. The peach cobbler recipe is on my site - http://eatlivingfood.com/recipes.htm
Had to fill out the bills today and work on laundry. It was a productive day even though I am still not caught up yet. I figure another 5 loads or so. I was really behind. And of course no one in the family can wear things twice. I also love my 2 daughters who wear things for a few hours and then change. I also made butter peacan icecream for the first time and some cheesecake that I haven't made since Christmas. I may be freezing most of it cause I don't know who is going to eat it all if I don't. Foods eaten:
Butter Peacan Icecream
Tangerine tea
Corn Salad (revised from Rawvolutions recipe)
Handful of raw cashews
Raw cheesecake
Welcome Liz - sounds like we have similar temptations! I love all that you mentioned

Hi Stina-
FYI when I eat raw chocolate I get that heat in certain body parts thing too. Don't get me wrong, I love the stuff, it just seems to have some really powerful effects on me. You are not alone in this experience!
I am doing well, still raw. Having a little headache/toothache today but I think it is just the detox thang goin on... I'm going to go and have a swim and a sun and hopefully that will make me feel all betta!:)

Hi all!
Lavendarj: I'm soooo sorry to hear about your brother and sister-in-law. I have suffered 2 miscarriages, I know these were the saddest times in my life, but God brought me through! My relationship is stronger with God because of what I went through. I will be praying for them...and the rest of your family who also has to go through the pain of loss.
To the rest of you, congratulations on what sounds like a great weekend. Sorry I've been mia. I promise to do better.
Today I've had:
barleymax, 10 oz. water
I plan on having a carrot/veggie juice snack and then lunch.
Trying to keep it simple.
I have a class at a church tonight that was sponsored by Hallelujah Acres...the whole program incourages a RAW lifestyle, with maybe 15% cooked, coming only from vegan sources. I hope this will help keep me excited about my journey. I've gotten alittle down the last week...I guess slipping is harder to come back from than I thought. I'm making it though. My weekend was good....just looking for more excitement.....I'll plan a gourmet meal/dish for later this week. That should do the trick.:D Guess I've just gotten alittle bored.
Sorry to sound "whiney"....I'll do better. I AM excited about the class tonight. I have a non-raw friend (she's not even vegan...a really SAD eater) and my good friend who introduced me to raw...but is struggling now...we are all going to this class together....that should keep me happy and focussed today!!:D
Have a great day!

Hey everyone.
Home today, helping DH with some mother-in-law stuff.
Sooo... took some advantage and have tapenade stuffed shrooms and cherry tomatoes as well as the vinegar/sea salt potato chips from A's book in the dehydrator.
Had a big salad for lunch. Hummus for breakfast (it's not great to do, but I'm in a habit).
Tonight dunno. Maybe some fresh corn on the cob and a little of my new watermelon/dill/honeydew soup. That stuff is like desert for me. =)
Hope you're all doing well!!!

Hey Everyone! I am still hanging in there - Today was my first day for a chem course I am taking, been busy: Up at 5 a.m. and made 3 quarts of green smoothie, consisting of bananas, spinach, a few dates, sunflower & pumpkin seeds. I also brought some of Alisha's salmon (nut pate'), an avocado and a couple of bananas with me. I put everything in a cooler. I just didn't want to get stuck at school without anything to fall back on. I only drinked 2 quarts of green smoothie and ate about 7 brazil nuts. Not hungry right now, I am tired and I am fighting the urge to eat something cooked. I think I just need to take a nap.
