My vocal quality has improved so much in the time I've gone raw. Clarity, pitch, depth, range has all improved and I’ve hardly practiced and haven’t sung in almost a year (classical, mezzo soprano and choral soprano). Its amazing, I cant believe it! I'm actually thinking about auditioning and joining a group again.
Is this typical of singers who go raw? I’ve never heard of this being a side effect of going raw---I doubt my improved vocal quality is a coincidence, especially if I haven’t worked at it.

I used to sing in punk and hardcore bands (which shredded my voice when I would spend months at a time on tour)...diet could make or break me back then. But to the point...all the antioxidants and good things you're taking in may be triggering the balancing of your hormones, and even collagen production. That makes for supple vocal cords. Loverly!

Hi Carla,
Cobgratulations on your expanding vocal power and prowess!!! :D I almost posted something in my blog about this...hmmm..maybe I did..LOL.. I am a classical singer, a contralto..and have noticed (among other things) that i am moving through my lower passagio with a lot more ease..and that I am just more relaxed vocally.. I think also, that when the sinuses become clear, it has to (positively??) affect resonance and also, since eating raw generally reduces inflammation, the chords would be less likely to become inflamed. I am looking forward to seeing the full affects, since I just got a new teacher and will be doing some auditions soon..
I think that part of it for me is also a spiritual/psychological thing..I just feel more at home in my body and with myself..more free.. Like a contralto bird!!! ;)
I have been having all of these ideas for programs and venues...and there is a composer who is interested in working with me and writing a piece for me.. I am very stoked!! and feel for the first time in a long time (maybe ever!!) that I will be able to sing and Be freely, and not let fear or nervousness interfere...
I think it is an amazing thing, going Raw and it affects us on every level and has the potential to make each communication, whether spoken or sung, more intimate and genuine, as we feel truyly at home in/with ourselves and can share freely and unguardedly... I have been thinking of doing some throat chakra work... have you ever done anything like that??
:D

You sing! Hah, you are so my west coast twin! :D
It's weird you should mention this today... I was driving and instead of NPR, put on some Cocteau Twins (my can-I-trill-like-Liz? benchmark for keeping my voice in working order) and I was SO phlegm-y! I haven't had milk of any kind for almost a year now, I have no idea where it's coming from. I could barely crack out the high notes and got to wondering if I just haven't been singing enough lately or something I'm eating is making me congested :(

:( Could it be some sort of detox?
Lately, I've noticed more mucus as well and wonder where its coming from.

The past couple of days, I've woken up and it's been really bad. I never get sick, so, to be this congested without having a cold is extremely weird
Only new things I've added lately have been cherries and raw corn. Hmmm... it better not be the corn! I gave up kale for my thyroid, the universe can't take my cobbs!

I was also going to post something about this a while back. I think it has something to do with clearing of mucus. Yay Raw!
