Is there a smoothie/concoction that I can make that I won't be able to taste Spirulina. I made a smoothie and it literally made me sick. I used less than 1 tsp of Spirulina. I read the spirulina threads and before I continue with my green smoothie journey, I need to know that what I make is sweet and delicious. Some of the ingredients I used were agave and stevia leaves(sweetness), spinach leaves. The color is beautiful, but I am not feeling the taste?! Thanks y'all!!

I add maca to mine. You can also add cacao to it.

Typically I use 2 cups water, handful of greens - most of the time spinach, a banana, an orange, a lemon, some frozen grapes, or pineapple, or mixed berries. I use a heaping tablespoon of spirulina (Pacifica brand from www.naturalzing.com) and one heaping tablespoon of Alissa's green food powder. I sometimes squirt a squirt of agave into it. Maybe the brand you are using is very strong flavored?

I bought it, tried it once and gave it away.
I figure if something tastes as awfull as that, I was not meant to eat it and all the experts in the world will not get me to try it again.

the first time I tried it I felt like I was going to throw up. But... when you mix it with lots of blue berries! not only does it make it purple instead of green it taste wayyyy better. That is the ONLY way that I can have a smoothie with any sorta green food powder in it. The only thing I hated was that it still had a powdery feel in my mouth but it took away earthy taste. I heard lemon can do the same thing but I prefer sweet blue berries.

It's a new taste. I hated greens the first time I tried them. I had to hold my nose!

I find with spirulina, you have to find a recipe that will be harmonious with the natural taste of it. It doesn't mesh with everything. Try this:
2 ripe peaches
2 pears
heaping spoonful spirulina (or work up to this)
spoonful coconut oil
cinnamon

it's delicious. My non-raw mom got into making this recipe daily. It's also grand in berry smoothies, once again with the coconut oil & cinnamon. Start small.

spirulina rocks!!

The brand of spirulina can make a huge difference in taste. Try a few and see what works for you. You can tell alot just from smelling them!

I use mine with a mixture of blackberries, blueberries and strawberries, usually. I also add vanilla to many of my smoothies, as well as stevia. This seems to cover mos taste issues. If you were to add banana to the mix, it would be a real treat.

If you can find a way to make the smoothie taste good to you, you will find spirulina to be a great addition to your cupboard!
