Alohaa all, just wondering if anyone knows where to find raw whole hemp seeds, not the hulled seeds. I know it's quite tough to find these... And also, what does everyone think about hulled hemp seeds, hemp oil, and protein powder? From what I've learned, hemp seeds should be consumed whole as they turn rancid quite quickly, and rancid fats equal bad fats. Just wondering if anyone has an opinion or information on this matter.

I used to used pre-shelled hemp seeds then I switched to unhulled hemp seeds (i'm in the UK, so can get them easily). I noticed a major difference between the two: the pre-shelled were actually very rancid tasting in comparison to the unhulled, they were kind of fusty tasting. Whereas the unhulled were fresh tasting and had none of that funky off-taste. So it does seem that hemp goes rancid very quickly once shelled. So I would say that the pre-ground (and sometimes de-fatted) hemp powder is even worse than the pre-shelled seeds. I have, however, now had to stop using any nut or seed products at all because I just can't digest them, even made into milks, which makes RV really difficult.

I've seen in Canada whole sprouted and dehydrated hemp seeds, so they must be starting to be available. I found them at a health food store called the Big Carrot. So if you're ever in Toronto.....

This place is in Toronto? Beauty, cause that's exactly where I live. I'll check it out. Ridiculous to have to search so hard for something that is so amazingly beneficial to our health and the environment...

If you can not get them then www.detoxyourworld.com will ship them to you.
They ship them to Ireland to me.
I have just planted my first small experimental crop today after sprouting them for a few days.

The Big Carrot is on Danforth Street, If you're downtown on Bloor Street and go east it's about 5 minutes out. It's part of an orange brick building complex with all kinds of great stuff (on the north side of the street). The cafe there has some raw goodies too. And a little past that is another eco shop with organic cotton, paper, and more household products.
I love the Big Carrot and go there every time I'm in Toronto (I'm from there but live in Australia now).

Forgot to mention I read recently that Canada jumped ahead of the states and legalized industrial hemp.... the USA is still holding back. That might be why we are first seeing whole hemp products in Canada.

Canada is THE PLACE TO BE for hemp :p (mutters about stupid American policies)
Did you know the first US patent was for a machine that harvested hemp!? *le sigh*
Living Harvest is really good. Nutiva comes a close second. Those are major brands I can think of off the top of my head, but, yeah... I'd imagine you could prolly find cheaper/local sources.

Yep, Canada is really smart becoming the provider of hemp for the US. You take a product which is becoming increasingly popular and a country that can't grow it and you have yourself a huge money maker.
We take tons of Canadian garbage and store it the US to make money and yet, because of our policies, we lose millions to Canadian companies because we cannot grow one of the most perfect crops in existence.
I guess I should just be happy that Canada has their heads on straight to grow it and at least we can BUY hemp products here
Btw, you MUST watch this if you're reading this thread.
