Hello everyone,

Today is my first day of a long 40 day juice fast. I am fasting for many, many reasons with the top reasons being:
* To end food addictions
* To lose 30 lbs.
* To eat 30% raw as part of lifestyle
* To better embrace my new life of being single
* To gain the courage to eventually change careers to something I'm passionate about and stop being afraid of losing a great salary
* etc............................................

Does anyone want to join me on this fast? Either way, I will report in at least once a week on my progress. I also want to show others that you can do it without gaining the weight back.

I should be fasting the same period. I'm on day 8 of a 40 - 5- day Master Cleanse/Juice Fast.

Hello SchoolOfRawk
So glad to have something company and wish I was already on day 8. What does 40-5-day mean? May it should be obvious but I don't get it. I also plan to incorporate MC sometimes but mainly to cut down on cost since I buy my raw juices as oppose to juicing myself.

starting tomorrow...for many of the same reasons! i fell off the wagon and feel like crap, i have 35ish lbs to lose, and i want to break the food addiction and detox. What do you mean by mc/juice fast? are you mixing both? i think that may be my plan because mc is so easy and quick, but i do think i need some vitamins thrown in as well. i know you detox less with fats but what are your thoughts on adding a tablespoon or so of coconut oil in a day? i think it may benefit my skin and my metabolism?

Sbaker - Yes I plan to mix both master cleanse concoction and live raw juices. I did a 28 day juice fast back in November of 2006 and I did not include any added fats since I focus a lot of detoxing plus weight loss. I see no problem with adding whatever works for you. To be honest, I don't tend to focus a lot on what to include in my juices. I just focus on drinking live juices and supplementing with master cleanse (which still consist of live lemon juice). I do a lot of coconut water because it's so easy. I add a little raw cacao powder to it for a chocolate drink. I like to use the phrase "whatever works for you" because I am big believer in every body's different. During my last fast, I walked/jogged up to 8 miles several times a week and worked out 5 to 6 days a week. But for some people that is too much on their bodies during fasting.

Needoll, I am so glad you'll be doing this with me. As for juices, I buy them as much as possible. However, my budget is $50 per week and by supplementing with the MC it will last all week. Also, I can buy a case of baby young coconuts for $8.00. Technically, I could do a week of fast on a case a day totaling $56.00. So, I don't get too fancy but instead try to plan and take it one week at a time. I can't wait to share with everyone what I do around week 4. Last time around it was so inexpensive, delicious, easy, and live. I say week 4 because it might be too tempting to do prior to week 4. I know I might have peaked your couriosity a bit but use it to your advantage to make it to the beginning of week 4 so you can hear STAR's best kept secret.

Happy fasting!

the coconut water is a good idea! and the cocao, because i read so much about how good it is for brain function and such, and boy is it a much needed treat! Im really lazy about juicing greens etc because its such a process that i couldnt do it 4-5 times a day, and keeping up the supply of veggies needed is a pain in the butt!!! I was only adding the coconut oil/fats because if i go for 40 days i'd feel much safer getting some fat, even though i'd like to detox and lose weight too! How much weight did you lose on your last fast? I am like you, I can still hike for 2 hours and be active, no problems! LETS DO IT!!!
I am starting tomorrow because today i am eating tons of fruit to clean out the system:)

Yes, coconut water is awesome and convenient. Don't worry, I got you beat on the laziness when it comes to juicing. But on the flip side, I don't mind using energy to workout and do other things.

I only lost 19 lbs. on my 28 day fast. I say only because I believe if I had not initially invested 9 days of fasting and breaking it for about 5 days before starting all over again, that I would have lost more. During the 5 days of breaking it, I piged out and gained all of the weight lost back and maybe 2 additional lbs. So my metabolism was already a little slower when I started my 28 days. Also, I am very, very happy to report that it's possible to maintain the weight loss without hunger and without being 100% raw (at least for me). The only reason that I eventually gained the weight back ( almost 3 months later) was due to other self destructive emotional issues that are a thing of past. So, this is a jump start to my new and improved life.

BTW, I also did 6 days of fasting about 3 weeks ago believing I was ready to do 40 days. But it turned out that I was not ready. I thought it was a good idea to do during the week of my divorce but it too much stress and I caved. But I know that I am ready this time so I am starting with a slightly slower metabolism just like the last time. But that's okay because my biggest goal is to end my food addictions with the weight loss being a close 2nd.

As you said, LET'S DO IT!!!

I have a lot of the same reasons, totally. Plus, it's summer. Everybody's dressing cute and minimal - I cannot fit into my cute clothes right now. But I'm on day 10, and getting closer! I can get a case of coconuts for $9, so I thought about that, too...

But I'm so lazy, the MC lemonaid is fine for me. I dryfasted like 2 days, too lazy to even make THAT. So, I have you both beat. :D

I'm going out tonight to buy all fresh vegies and fruits, I've started writing out a plan for this coming week of what I'll be doing, cause that seams to make sence to me and easier for me to follow.
The only thing is I'm a little confused about how much I should be having during the day? This is the first time I've fasted and I want to do it right and not deprive myself of anything.
I can't wait for the secret!

Hey Ya'll, I'm gonna join in on this thread as I'm on day 55 of my own juice fast. Can always use the encouragement.:p

This has been quite a road, a good one, but a huge learning process.

Recently I've been experimenting with different liquid combos and I'm about to start incorporating Psyllium and Bentonite Shakes to clean what ever remains in my colon. Shouldn't be much.:rolleyes:

Wish everyone the best!!!:D

Gwena, I've never used bentonite so far. I'm very keen on knowing how well it works for you, especially if you use large doses, or larger on an increasing basis. I know it can be a somewhat personal in nature, but keep us posted, or pls email me on it. Thanks. :o

Hello everyone. I am happy to be on day 4 but double digits would be even better.

OKay SchoolOfRAWk, I got me beat but I'm assure you I'm not that far behind. As a matter of fact, I probably don't intake enough juice because I don't want to make the MC when my purchased juices run out for the day.

Gwena, are you kidding me? You're on day 55? Oh my gosh. You give me so much hope that this is possible. Please email at a subject line at my junk account alyceaka@hotmail.com and I in turn will email you from my non-junk account. I would like to ask you a very questions.
