ok i've read and re-read and rere-read alissa's book and it makes a lot of sense to me. but she makes detox seem like nothing at all, and then i read the story about the woman on all the antibiotics who just stops them cold turkey, feels awful for a few days then is boom all better and i'm wondering...
i have to take medications each day, and there really isn't a way around them, but i'm committed to this diet in every sense, if i can't cut out these medications and continue to live successfully will i remain in a constant detox state?

That's a good question. I was on daily anti-histamine allergy medication, and on Zocor to reduce my cholesterol. After starting raw I stopped the allergy medication, and when my cholesterol dropped I stopped taking the Zocor. I could notice a difference after stopping. However, I was not on any medication I HAD to take, if you know what I mean. For me eating raw helped with both conditions I was taking medication for, thus the medicaiton was no longer necessary.

One should never, never, never just "go off medication" without the supervision of a professional.
I haven't read Alissa's book in a couple years, but I doubt she said to go off medication, and, "Poof" all is well.
If anything, you would wean yourself off of medication; not just stop immediately, unless instructed by your physician. Weaning off should also be done under the advice of a doctor.
Eat healthfully. Go to the doctor and get your progress. It will undoubtedly be good. Ask to reduce your medication. Your doctor will not be able to deny your progress.
Do not do anything dangerous.
I'm confident in saying that I believe Alissa would not encourage anyone to do something so possibly dangerous and irresponsible.
