Hi!! I just wanted to see what everyone eats. for example, whether you're a fruitarian, raw vegan, follow the 8/1/1, or just eat any raw food?
I'm trying to find a way of eating that is the best and will be most beneficial.

What form of eating do you apply?
I eat for healing. If it doesn't benefit my condition ex: arthritis, I try to eat something that will, If I don't keep up the foods that prevent inflammation, it will come back :(

How long have you been eating this way?
Since Dec. I fell off the wagon and recently got back on.


How has it helped you?
I feel better. More happier. I will start to feel down if I eat non-raw foods. When you know something makes you feel good, its a shame not to do that for your self!!!

What exercise do you do and how many times a week?
Right now, none. I have a gym membership but I dont have an instant sitter when I feel the urge to go. I should make out a game plan.

What is your favorite snack?
Right now, Pink grapefruit peeled and skin off. Juicy!!

Do you have good bowel movements?
Oh yes, more frequent. I used to go once every 3 days.. now its typically shortly after most meals.

How long do you sleep at night?
I get a full nights rest most times. When Im in school I get about 6 hours.

How do you get rid of cravings?
I never get "rid" of them, I will still get them but if I avoid what I crave, it gets easier.

Do you eat when your not hungry?
Yes!! When I am happy, bored, tired.. I eat all day all night long :o

What is your opinion on dehydrated foods?
I don't mind them.

Do you take supplements?
I was taking a probiotic and wheat grass and I thought about taking a daily vitamin but I stopped because I thought about all those chemicals I am taking with them.. fillers and etc.. I wonder if an organic liquid vitamin is okay??

Do you feel you have a "glow" to you?
Much more so than last year! People have told me how beautiful my skin looks and how it looks smoother and clearer. I still get acne but its very little.

How much water do you drink?
2-3 bottles a day. Im working on it.

What form of eating do you apply? It's different each month. Right now, my body only wants fruit or vegetables that are fruits.

How long have you been eating this way? over 8 yrs

How has it helped you? Shedding your false body for your REAL body cant be described. No words do it justice. You have to experience it.

What exercise do you do and how many times a week? Sometimes I go running, but it's something I WANT to do. It's never something I HAVE to do.

What is your favorite snack? Apples

Do you have good bowel movements? Yep

How long do you sleep at night? 4 hours

How do you get rid of cravings? at 100% raw, I dont have them

Do you eat when your not hungry? Yeah... my comfort foods always seem to be nut milks/butters. Something thick & heavy.

What is your opinion on dehydrated foods? I dont care for them myself. I work better with a simple & mono diet.

Do you take supplements? no

Do you feel you have a "glow" to you? In my eyes, I do. When I enter a room or store ppl always look my way. I think it's a form of energy.

How much water do you drink? Depends. Not nearly as much as I did when I was SAD. Must be all the fruit I'm eating.

I WOULD LIKE TO ADD::: I did not have success until I stopped looking for it in others. Also, dont let other ppl's misfortune reflect on your future.

Around ten or eleven months.

How has it helped you?
I have lost a lot of weight and tried some new foods.

What exercise do you do and how many times a week?
I walk to work and sometimes ride my bike to church.

Any of several fruits.

As long as no one tells me sternly that I should go to the poop deck instead of the head ;)

How long do you sleep at night?
It varies. Sometimes 8 h, sometimes I wake up early, sometimes I have to sleep more.

How do you get rid of cravings?
Not totally sure I've had a craving.

Do you eat when you're not hungry?
Sometimes, but not much.

What is your opinion on dehydrated foods?
I might try making them someday. For now I'm content with a wide variety of fruits, veggies, and seaweed.

Yes.

I must have, to get the compliments I've gotten :)

It varies with the seasons.

take it easy and have fun. If it tastes good (hello bananas) I'll eat it. If it tastes yuck (goodbye tomatoes) I won't.

almost 2 months

How has it helped you?
clearer skin, better moods, better bm's

What exercise do you do and how many times a week?
I guess right now I don't really have what would be defined as a regular workout routine, but I walk places as much as I can, spend a lot of time running with the kids at work, and swimming and playing at the park during the summer.

What is your favorite snack?
Raisins and nuts

Do you have good bowel movements?
Oh yeah. Much better now that I've incorporated more raw foods.

How long do you sleep at night?
depends. Some nights 6 hours, some nights more.

How do you get rid of cravings?
Hmmm. I usually just eat some fresh fruit and that satisfies me enough that I don't worry about the cravings.

Do you eat when your not hungry?
Sometimes

What is your opinion on dehydrated foods?
I try to eat as much fresh food as I can, but occasionally I will have raisins b/c they increase my calorie intake.

Do you take supplements?
Never have, never will.

Do you feel you have a "glow" to you?
Not yet, but I'm getting there. (Although sometimes I feel like I am buzzing on the inside after eating a bunch of fruit)

How much water do you drink?
8 to 10 glasses a day.

What form of eating do you apply? I consider myself a vegan. I eat about 80-85% raw.

How long have you been eating this way? Only a short time. I am a reformed SAD eater.

How has it helped you? I have notice a sharp decrease over the last few weeks in my rheumatoid arthritis activity. I also seem to require less sleep and am not in such a "fog" all the time.

What exercise do you do and how many times a week? Currently, housecleaning is my only exercise :D I plan on taking up yoga again this summer.

What is your favorite snack? Apples with almond butter or Alissa's Almond Butter Balls. Anything with almond butter!

Do you have good bowel movements? They're getting there. :o

How long do you sleep at night? Around 6 hours, down from 10!

How do you get rid of cravings? Almonds (can you tell I'm an almond junkie!?)

Do you eat when you're not hungry? I do, when I'm bored. But I'm much more concious about what I'm nibbling on them - usually fruit or nuts.

What is your opinion on dehydrated foods? I don't have a dehydrator and haven't had an opportunity to try dehydrated foods other than dehydrated fruit, which I love.

Do you take supplements? Yes

Do you feel you have a "glow" to you? Getting there.

How much water do you drink? Usually somewhere in the neighborhood of 80 oz. a day - I'm a big water drinker.

My cholesterols went from 385/31/160 (triglycerides/HDL/LDL) to 92/29/23.

What exercise do you do and how many times a week?
Mostly incidental exercise like walking around the zoo, swimming or other such things. About 2 times/week I do DDR with the kids specifically for exercise.

What is your favorite snack?
Banana, Pear, Nuts, Dried Fruit, or Celery and some sort of dip

Do you have good bowel movements?
Yes. Prior to doing this I had infrequent and mostly uncomfortable if not even sometimes slightly painful bowel movements. Now I have no more discomfort or pain, and I have 2 to 3 movements per day at regular times. They are of a good healthy appearance and firmness/softness as well. I know, gross, but you asked!

How long do you sleep at night?
If allowed to sleep in, aobut 9 hours. On most nights I get 7 hours. Sometimes I am tired when I get up, especially during detox periods. However, once I get moving around I wake up. I am no longer a morning zombie for a few hours like I used to be on a SAD diet.

How do you get rid of cravings?
I evaluate the craving, try to determine what my body is asking for, and eat something that has that in it. If that does not work I take a multivitamin.

Do you eat when your not hungry?
No.

What is your opinion on dehydrated foods?
They are dry.:D I do not think they are "alive" anymore, so I do not eat them in much of a quantity.

Do you take supplements?
I take a multivitamin on a mostly irregular basis, but try and take it at least every 3 days for the most part.

Do you feel you have a "glow" to you?
Yes. A glow is the best way to put it. There is something that happens to your appearance. You can see this when walking among large groups of people. Look for the people who look radiantly healthy. They have somehting about them that seems to make them stand out form the others. They look mroe radiant.

How much water do you drink?
Actually not very much. My body doesn't get thirsty much anymore. I guess I am getting lots of water from the fresh produce I eat so much of. On some days I will have 3 glasses of water, but some days I may only have one.

What form of eating do you apply? I try to do a low fat/high veggie diet, but I have a sweet tooth and that tends to get in the way..

How long have you been eating this way? 100% since March, 80% since August

How has it helped you? My stomach/digestive issues are gone, more energy, less sluggish, I hae become much more stable in my moods, I have a more positive outlook on things

What exercise do you do and how many times a week? Not enough :(

What is your favorite snack? Dates...dates...and more dates

My favorite way of eating raw is high fruit, lots of greens, a few nuts.
I do follow other ways of raw eating that are not on-topic for this board so I don't really discuss it much.

I'm not a fan of dehydrated foods. For me fresh is best.
Any time, any where, I completely will snack on, meal on, etc, RED GRAPES.

What form of eating do you apply?
I subscribed to the 'Eat Whatever You Want As Long As It's Raw' philosophy until I realised that just dosn't work for every body. I gained over 6 sizes! I mosly lived on greens & fats, low fruit. My body was able to heal in other ways because I was not eating the standard stuff, but the fat was clearly too much for my body. Then I heard of eating 811 and it made so much sence for me. Worked great too. I didn't even have to be all raw to get amazing results, thoug all raw is the way to go for sure. I very much resonate with being totally fruitarian and am heading towards that.

How long have you been eating this way?
I have always struggled with food addiction, especially to the very things that hurt my body the most, so I havn't been able to stay a certain way for more then 6 months at a time yet. I discovered raw in the summer of 2002 and have been on the path since then.

How has it helped you?
Eating real food has helped me in numerous ways. I don't even know that I can do it justice here! If you take an animal out of the wild and contain it & feed it something other then what it was designed for for long enough that it has many health problems for many generations.. then return it's offspring to the wild where it is able to eat normally for the first time and start to heal.. that is how I feel! Like I am free for the first time! Like I can finally heal, feel good & reach my potential! I AM FREE!

What exercise do you do and how many times a week?
I go to the gym at least once a week for weight bearing excercise. I play DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) at home most days for cardio. I swim laps and hit the sauna pretty frequently lately. I do workout videos sometimes and work out at home through the program I set up at sparkpeople.com

What is your favorite snack?
Mangosteen, jackfruit, lychees, figs, concord grapes, durian smoothies, tangerines, tamarinds.

Do you have good bowel movements?
When I eat raw, yes.

How long do you sleep at night?
8 hours, sometimes less sometimes more depending on my diet.

How do you get rid of cravings?
I found that eating low fat gets rid of them after the first day or so of adjusting. If I eat even the slightest bit of steamed veggies I get massive unbearable cravings that I can't control and I end up eating all kinds of cooked stuff again and have to wait till i'm sick enough that I have to go back to raw. I also have intense cravings if I eat too much fat.

I definitly have other reasons for eating that I need to work on. Eating low fat pretty much takes care of this though because it's just not addictive to me.

What is your opinion on dehydrated foods?
Transition foods, or for special ocassions. Not a good choice because they lack the natural water our bodies need to function optimally. They are like cooked foods kinda. Only with enzymes. But enzymes are not the only thing that's important.

Do you take supplements?
No. Not as in vitamin pills anyway. I believe I get everything I need from my foods. If you feel you need a pill or potion, ask yourself what is really lacking from your diet. I also believe a healthy body produces it's own b12. Supplementing with little pills dosn't make sence at all to me. It's not in a form your body can even use and it just gets flushed out while creating unnessary burden on your system. Look to the cause, not a quick fix that dosn't even work.

Do you feel you have a "glow" to you?
I can FEEL it when I eat right! People definitly notice it.

How much water do you drink?
Depends how i'm eating. When I eat low fat real whole foods I pretty much can't even make myself drink water. I'd rather just eat an orange. I have always drank a ton of it my whole life and I love water especially when I eat unnaturally or lots of dehydrated and/or fatty food. I think my body demands lots of it so I can dillute those toxins and flush them out.

How has it helped you? I have more energy, lost more weight, my skin is not as dry

What is your opinion on dehydrated foods? Its fine in moderation. I'm a "foodie" and love "cooking" and creating new things. That part of me isnt going to die just because I've gone raw.

What form of eating do you apply? Raw-Vegan, and I naturally lean towards fruits and fats, but I get my greens in with at least one big salad a day. I try to limit the nuts.

How long have you been eating this way? Since last summer 2006

How has it helped you? It aided my weightloss of 25-30 lbs, got rid of cravings and has eased my binges tremendously, it's given me energy, mental clarity (I get all A's!), and a change of mind towards the world. I'm MUCH LESS grouchy, and it just clicked after 2 months of raw that I realized how awful it is to eat animals. Before I couldn't even comprehend why someone would object to eating meat, but...I guess my brain cleared up without me even trying!

What exercise do you do and how many times a week? I walk on my treadmill at the highest incline at about 2.7-3.2 mph, for 1/2 hour at least 3+ a week. I also take a yoga class once a week, and try to run around and act as childlike as I can in the outdoors. (I love playgrounds! But it's kind of embarrassing to be going up and down slides, swinging, and doing the jungle gym when people are looking at you. My goal when I grow up is to create adult playgrounds (with an extensive liability release form thinger) where adults can run and play with abandon. I think that's whats wrong with the world...people stop playing due to peer pressure.

What is your favorite snack? I love apples with Tahini, basically any grab-and-go fruit, and dehydrated mushroom slices with cayenne and garlic powder on them.

Do you have good bowel movements? Very good! Unless I eat too many bananas, I have at least 2 BM's a day.

How long do you sleep at night? 8+ hours. I sleep VERY well when I don't have school, but when the pressure is on, I don't do well.

How do you get rid of cravings? Eat what I want. Or drink water, walk a mile, listen to music, go somewhere.....

Do you eat when your not hungry? Occassionally. I've linked it pretty exclusively to my stress levels, which is partially why I took up chewing gum again recently. That's about the only thing that stops me from cramming something in my mouth when I'm flipping out.

What is your opinion on dehydrated foods? I eat them every so often, but they really kill my digestion and make me feel bloated etc.

Do you feel you have a "glow" to you? Eh...yes? I don't know :)

How much water do you drink? I get most of my water from foods, so I don't feel thirsty often. But I drink a very large glass of water upon waking, and then another one later in the day.

I follow the Living on Live Food approach of eating whatever I want that is raw vegetarian (I won't say vegan as I may have something with honey on occasion) and allowing my body to lead me into what and what not to eat.

How long have you been eating this way?
Since 2004

How has it helped you?
I lost weight, clearer skin, got rid of candida, improved digestion and bowel movements, lighter periods, joints stopped being stiff and achey, no more chronic headaches and migraines, more energy

What exercise do you do and how many times a week?
I try to do something in terms of activity everyday...but if not, then at least 3-4 times a week.

What is your favorite snack?
Currently, my favorite is Alissa's Rye Bagels (made into flat bread) with almond butter and agave on top!

Do you have good bowel movements?
Eating raw gives me GREAT bm's!

How long do you sleep at night?
If I get into bed on time, I sleep about 6-7 hours

How do you get rid of cravings?
It's sometimes hard living in a household of family who are not all raw - but that is about to change in June! (YAY!) - but for the most part, making SURE that I am well-stocked with my favorite foods. Also, FruitarianOne has advised me to get active when cravings come and this was confirmed through Alissa and Revvell's Radio Show #7 - so getting out of the present environment, not giving a lot of thought and energy to the craving and doing something else helps.

Sometimes.

What is your opinion on dehydrated foods?
I don't think they should be a person's PRIMARY diet...but they are good for transitioning from cooked-to-raw AND for those who have been raw for a long time who want little change of pace every now and then - it's good for a nice variety and to keep from possibly getting too bored or stuck in a rut!

Do you take supplements?
I do use Alissa's Green Powder in my smoothies (with fresh greens, not in place of them) as well as Spirulina. Other than that, nothing else.

Do you feel you have a "glow" to you?
I think so...I know I've been told so as well as that I look like a teenager (I'm soon-to-be 36 with 4 children)

How much water do you drink?
Not a WHOLE lot as I feel I get a lot of my water from fresh fruit. I do notice that when I'm eating dehydrated stuff I crave more water (no duh) but when I eat an abudance of fruit, I don't want water much at all.

How has it helped you? My swollen glands have gone down and my eyes are getting less yellow

What exercise do you do and how many times a week? I usually rock climb 4 times a week, but because of a wrist injury I have been stuck rebounding

I’m living on green smoothies. I think low fat raw is optimal.

How long have you been eating this way?
Since March 5th.

How has it helped you?
I’ve lost 67 pounds and cured myself of IBS.

What exercise do you do and how many times a week?
Stretching, abdominal crunches, and 5 minutes stationary bike riding twice per day.

What is your favorite snack?
I only eat green smoothies.

Do you have good bowel movements?
Yes. Normal & daily.

How long do you sleep at night?
About 7 hours.

How do you get rid of cravings?
I’m not rid of them, but they have gotten progressively less intense the longer I live on green smoothies.

Do you eat when your not hungry?
Yes, I drink three quarts of green smoothies a day on schedule whether I’m hungry or not.

What is your opinion on dehydrated foods?
Not optimal for weight loss as it’s easy to eat a lot of calories fast.

Do you take supplements?
No.

Do you feel you have a "glow" to you?
No, but I’m hoping I’ll get this down the road.

How much water do you drink?
About 48 ounces mixed into my green smoothies and at least another 48 ounces apart from my green smoothies.

How has it helped you? hard to put into words...lots of things...I feel all around better mood, clearer skin, lighter, (not necessarily weight but I have lost weight)

What exercise do you do and how many times a week? I walk

How long do you sleep at night? go to bed around 10 and wake up at 5

How do you get rid of cravings? I haven't yet really...I'm not 100% raw...I think that would help the cravings
