I've been trying to find a middle ground for meeting socially with friends, and smoothies seem to be about it, except for MAYBE a salad bar.
Anyways, I found Jamba Juices website, clicked on "all-fruit smoothies", and read the ingredients...and it goes like this:

Strawberry Whirl
Ingredients: Apple-Strawberry Juice Blend [Pear Juice (from concentrate), Apple Juice (from concentrate), Natural Flavor & Strawberry Puree], Frozen Strawberries, Frozen Bananas [Frozen Bananas, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) and/or Citric Acid], Ice

What does that say to you? Is that still raw? Or is the word "concentrate" bad and pasturized?

I wish I could find somewhere that would just blend me some whole fruits and call it a day.

They do have several yummy all-fruit smoothies on their menu, as well as total flexibility for the design-your-own smoothie requests. I, personally, love the Orange-A-Peel (or is it Orange Apeal??) smoothie with the frozen yogurt omitted. And their new pomegranate smoothie is really tasty, too. They also have pure wheatgrass shots, which is always dandy for me. :D

And I love walking in to their store and inhaling the strong orange smells!

The downside is that there are no smoothies there that do not use juice as a base, and all of the base juices are pasteurized.

Oh, yeah. . . an amendment to my PP ~ I don't do concentrates, ever. That limits things quite a bit, because they mostly use concentrates. The Jamba orange juice, however, is not from concentrate.

The pomegranate smoothie does have concentrates in it, however. (I know that it's yummy only because I've tasted someone elses'.) If you don't mind concentrates, then it's a more-pure offering there than others of their concoctions. :)

Thanks so much! I'll look into that orange thing, and ask them to throw some extra banana in there in place of the yogurt or something :)

SmilingRawDancer - I love Jamba Juice. But if you're after raw, most of it is not. You can tell by the equipment on hand. And if they did everything fresh & raw, the prices would be driven up phenomenally.

But like VitalHarvest said, The Jamba orange juice is not from concentrate. That's what I have ordered. Once, I also asked Orange Julius to just do the fresh OJ and leave out the "stuff."

Have a beautiful day!

I go to Jamba Juice all the time for fresh squeezed OJ or fresh squeezed Carrot juice.
There is nothing sweeter than OJ anyway. I can't even finish it. But they juice it right in front of you. Don't except juice that was previously juiced. Make them do it fresh or else it's already been oxidized.
Also, I get my wheatgrass shots from there. Always a good addition.];) ;)

So do they cook the fruit? I dont get it - how isnt it raw?

Note: I cant drink Jamba Juice because the high sugar content, but I'm just curious.

I see. I haven't been to a JJ in about 5 years so I didn't realize they had bottled juices now - just the smoothies and fresh juice.

Cooked as in pasteurized. I just came back from a jamba Juice and was pleased to see that they have fresh carrot juice, as pennypower mentioned. Funny they call it "sqeezed." I looked at their big commercial contraption for the carrots and it appeared to have a chute. I think it's a juicer, tho they call it squeezed.
