I took the home test from one of the other threads and it showed that I have a candida problem:eek: ..does anyone know of a cleanse for it..preferably one that does not involve juice fasting or really fasting in general..maybe some herbal pills or just herbs?..I just am really bad with sticking to any kind of fasting...thanx everyone:)

My daughter had a problem with Candida - a yeast buildup that can cause a ton of problems. We went to the health food store (we are in Canada so there is likely less available here) and got a product called "Candida Bust" which is capsules that you take for 15 days - you also need to take sugar, wheat and yeast out of your diet for a month or so - be careful with some fruits that have a lot of their own sugar - the sugar is what feeds the yeast - if you are not 100% raw be careful of sweeteners by other names.
going raw will clear that up for you and you will feel great - try it because it is worth is - I have been raw for 6 weeks and never felt better than now
good luck

Lovelife,
I used to have a horrible candida problem--I literally thought I was dying. My hair was falling out, I had no energy, etc. After going raw, any candida just went away. I'd suggest getting started on a good, strong probiotic. Take it on an empty stomach every morning. And just eat lots of fresh, raw fruits and veggies. Stay away from dried fruits--the concentration of sugar is a wee bit too high. And go easy on nuts; be sure to soak them before eating, and don't go overboard. Your system needs to clean out right now and it needs to have as efficient a process going as possible.
Other supplements that help immediately are Caprylic Acid, Cayenne tablets, Biotin and Garlic tablets. :)
There's no need to cut out fresh fruit, though. But I think you'll notice a big difference just from the raw. And basically, you need to boost your immune system and put more good flora (from the Probiotic) into your gut. Good luck!
I would suggest checking out a good traditional healing book, like Encyclopedia for Natural Medicine or Nutritional Prescription For Nutritional Healing just to get a very broad treatment plan and further educating yourself in general...or even looking it up online. You may have to at least cut out more of the really sweet fruits. A modified raw diet may be needed.

Just get the book SICK AND TIRED: RECLAIM YOUR INNER TERRAIN by Dr. Robert Young, PhD (in pleomorphic science, i.e. candida!)
It honestly depends on how systemic it is. If it is, a 15 day herbal addition, or something like Threelac, won't cut it.
Many say to eliminate all fruits - ANY kind of sugar. The Body Ecology diet has a lot of great information in it, my friend knocked his out with it, doing it raw vegan (the book is sadly NOT vegan or even all raw).
Mainly,
1) Don't eat anything to feed the candida
2) Take your probiotics daily, ideally in food (cultured veggies, etc), but in supplements, totally (Primal Defense is great)
3) Take antifungals - Some GREAT ones are: Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Grapefruit Seed Extract (but is only palatable in OJ or Grapefruit juice to me, which means it's a no-go if on the candida diet), oregano oil (diluted!), Samento & Cumanda (sooo great - Nutramedix makes the best best brand, it's at www.myherbs.net, olive leaf extract, FRESH GARLIC, and there are more.) You want to rotate these as candida changes face to survive, the nasty buggers.
Note: natural hygienist/fruitarian Doug Graham has supposedly had luck by getting people off fats and on to all fruits for candida. This defies all we know about candida. Not sure these people had candida to begin with, could be something else. There are many more critters out there.
I would get the raw food cookbook RAINBOW GREEN LIVE FOOD CUISINE by Gabriel Cousens. They take you through the increments of a strict, less strict, then less strict diet. Totally raw vegan candida diet, plus educates (note: a whole chapter is devoted to the book SICK AND TIRED by Young because it is so landmark)

Hi there,
I resolved my candida issues following Dr. Grahams approach, a high fruit, low fat diet. Some people experience healing just from going raw.
I hope you feel better soon!!!
All the best,

Thanx for all the info..I'll definately look into it all..is there any way to tell how bad u have it..cuz I only tested myself just for kicks..cuz I pretty much never get sick since being Vegan..and since going raw I have more energy..the only symptom that some people said they had that I might..is when I gained weight it went to my stomach in an unusual wasy..not fat all around more resembling pregnant fat..so I thought I'd see if I had candida..well guess I'll look into it and figure out what will work for me..I've never done any cleanse of any kind so maybe this will be my first of many..now if it does work..will the candida come back?..I heard it's from antibiotics..so if I never take any again will it never come back?

If you get rid of it, you have to eat a maintenance diet. Basically, keep probiotics and fermented foods in the diet, regularly. And the rest you got down as a raw vegan. ;-) The main issue is getting rid of it. To test your severity, funny, we are talking about this in a yahoo group right now. Not really. You COULD do terrain testing with a reputable natural doctor, if you want. Mine tested with saliva. I came back with a lot of candida, parasites, bacteria and stealth viruses. :-(

Attended/Hosted Victoria Lecture last night: She states:::::::
" Candida" is due to low or no Hydrochloric Acid !!!!!! that's it::::::::and now it's beginning to make sense; why so many remedies don't work and why getting off fruits does not work and doing plans does not work. We must re-build hydrocholric acid !

Very interesting! How do we re-build our hydrochloric acid? I assume it is by consuming greens.

Do you have the Green For Life book? There is a whole chapter on Hydrochloric acid. And yes; by consuming greens via Green Smoothies.
Such a Simple Solution and we can end the CANDIDA EPIDEMIC and be well !

I would agree there is a connection between hydrochloric acid & candida, but for me it isn't as simple as green smoothies. I read her book a year and a half ago, and drank the smoothies regularly for about 3 months. The fruit ones make me feel ill. At first I thought detox, but it persisted. Personally, i think it's WAY too much fruit for very little greens. Now i like my greens in savory green smoothies and mostly juiced.

Hi all,
I am new to the boards but I am bumping this thread because I have some level of candida in me (not sure how much). I failed the spit test (I have taken it twice in the last month - second one didn't look as bad as the first though).
For the questions on the online tests I have taken that ask about long term antibiotics for acne and urinary tract infections I had to answer yes ( I am assuming they mean if you have EVER taken them before in your life not just recently - my antibiotics courses were a long time ago but I did take them esp the acne antibiotics for many years).
I have one thing that definately tells me I have candida. "Yeast rashes" called Pityriasis versicolor. Mine aren't all that bad compared to some of the pictures I have seen on the net. I have mostly near my bikini area and a little on my neck and under one arm pit.
I have been treating them with tea tree oil for the past two weeks and they are fading ( i am using the diluted verison by Desert Essence). On my neck, my skin got too irritated from the tea tree so I switched to coconut oil so I am alternating that on the rest of my spots too.
I also have a few other "symtpoms" that may or may not be related to the candida which are hearing loss and tinnitus - I have had these for several years. Tinnitus is only in one ear. And I believe my hearing loss was due to several bad ear infections I had due to wax buildup about 10 years ago. I do not have chronic yeast infections - it has been a very long time since I had one at all.
I am doing a probitoic in my Pau D' Arco sun tea with Cats Claw in the morning. Than I am TRYING to do more green smoothies ( I miss sometimes and I admit it) and definatley up my greens with more salads. I am avoiding all fruits except I am allowing myself some pineapple. (My favorite fruit!). I normally use alot of coconut in my smoothies anyhow but I am trying to up it since I read good things about the coconut oil (it has caprylic acid in it right?). I am staying all raw. I did slip once so far.
I was reading Alissa's Living on Live foods book and it said if you had candida you should avoid the SWEET fruits. I also noticed she also has a chart where there are several sections of fruits: ACID, SUB-ACID, SWEET and a few others.
Question: Am I supposed to just avoid the fruits under the SWEET FRUITS section or do I avoid all the others too?
I know there are many different theories of what can get rid of this. I am trying the "sweet" route first. (I have read a few of the other threads on this but not all of them). I am not really interested in the 80/10/10 theory at all. I need some fat or I feel week.
But I am definatley uping my greens because I KNOW I do not get enough of them. I eat a relatively good variety of veggies though and the non-sweet "fruits": cukes, tomatoes, several kinds of onions, peppers, mixed greens, etc. I am also trying to included more fermented items.
Another question is: What about things like vanilla and agave nectar I am assuming those are a no-no for being sweet? I heard that yacon syrup which is available raw is actually a anti-fungal. I was wondering if that would be a sufficient replacement. I don't have access to raw stevia right now. Also how about raw cacao?
FYI, I am not a 'sugar craver' for the most part. I normally would have bananas in my smoothies just to add some "thickness" but I stopped eating them. I crave bready and salty things.
Also, how long is a rough estimate of how long I can except it to take if I follow the diet well enough? I am assuming several months.
Is the spit test really a definate way of telling it is gone?
Sorry so many questions...I guess I figure if I have to do it - I want to do it right. :) I think I am doing pretty good so far but any other new advice would be apprepriated too.

Hey, fluff. It's RawVee from the other board. :)
Don't worry about vanilla and agave. Vanilla is just a flavoring agent, and agave has a low glycemic index (diabetics can use it), so you'll be fine. I truly found that going raw cured my candida, and I had it BAD, girl. Also, yeast infections are just one of the ways candida shows itself in our bodies, so you won't necessarily get them when you have candida.
If you're avoiding all fruits except pineapple, and fruits are tripping your system up, the pineapple isn't going to help you, as it's a really sugary fruit. I continued to eat fresh fruit on raw, just didn't do the dried fruit. Like I mentioned to you before, I would suggest biotin and caprylic acid supplements, along with a probiotic.
Hope you're feeling better soon!

Hey V!
Great to see you on here too! :) I am still following your advice - it is awesome. I still have to answer back your email. I will soon.:)
For the fruits, I don't really know if the sweet fruits are my problems (or any fruits for that matter). This is just something I am trying. I see more info on sweets being the problem than fats or other things. I am just trying to place it 'safe' I guess. I am going to give it a couple months and than see.
I was esp. wondering about all fruits vs. sweet fruits as Alissa states in her book. I guess maybe I should email her personally for clarification on that.
Doesn't coconut oil contain the caprylic acid too? I am eating more of that and using it on my skin too. I would rather take a food source of it than a supplement.
I am still taking the probiotics and tea. Thanks! queen
I had to lessen the tea tree a bit because my skin was getting irritated.

Thanks for this info. I haven't tried this yet. Will the Grapefruit seed extract dry out my skin if I use it topically? I am having this problem with the Tea tree so I had to lessen the use of it.
I will read the info at the site. I have heard of using the Grapefruit seed extract but haven't tried it yet.
Did you have a "yeast die off" reaction? Or are you not taking the higher doseage? I am just wondering how will I know if I have a "yeast die off".
